Dodgy penalty but Arsenal well worth the 1-1.

Neither Man. City FB is lasting this game, the hell is Walker doing just walking onto the pitch and booting it away when he hadn't got permission  ?!

Would push Bernardo back into midfield area and move Ake to LB.
Walker will be fine I think, Bernardo should probably be hooked for Laporte. He's prone to sliding in, even when he plays in the middle.

He already had taken the shot when they collided, really ridiculous.
That's exactly it. If Nketiah had nudged the ball past Ederson and been taken out it might've seemed reasonable. But when both go for the ball and the striker gets there first it's almost never given. Usually just an inevitable coming together.

Had the ref not blown I doubt there would've been much, if any, protest from Arsenal.

Penalty aside, Ederson’s importance is shown from his distribution. We need someone like him at the back.
It's a pen for me. Ederson has no reason to follow through like that, he simply doesn't even try to stop himself.

If a defender does that it's a penalty all day long.

Refs getting influenced by managers moaning shows how unfit they are for the job.
I called it after the Brentford game. The refs will take the first opportunity to give Arsenal something. They're a bit of a joke.

I think that's a penalty to be fair. However, how many times do you actually see that being ignored by the on field referee? He couldn't wait to give it. Normally a decision like that would've been initiated by the VAR.

It's a foul anywhere else on the pitch, so why not in the box?
Looked at it again. That’s a clear penalty. Ederson jumps in under Nketiah leaving him nowhere to land. That’s dangerous play and completely unnecessary. Should be a booking actually. If he had gone in with his body sliding in to try blocking the shot I might have had some sympathy. Bad error from Ederson.

What is wrong with City shadow of the team of last season.Mind you Pep being his usual too clever self playing Silva at left back!
Both City and Liverpool are having a year off of the PEDs. They'll be miraculously back next year.

pen or not??? how often do you see that happen and no pen is given
No pen. Had already taken the shot and the keeper can't disappear himself. Recent history has helped them get that call.

Even Nketiah wasn't appealing for it. He was appealing for the goal and started celebrating a goal when Taylor blew the whistle.

Look at the replay for the offf the crossbar incident.

Ake was being fouled at every point in the play. Holding his shirt then bodychecking as he went for the rebound.

None of those are ever given, but the goalie ones aren't either.

Its consitency that is the problem.
That is why managers moan. You moan and you are rewarded next game

For me, it's a blatant pen. Ederson comes across, moves his feet across the attacker and gets nowhere near the ball. If that's not a foul, I don't know what is.

I must be seeing missing something that everybody else sees.

If City lose to Arsenal side that is without Partey and Jesus then they can't complain really. My stream is shite so haven't even seen penalty decision yet but City have looked poor other than their goal that came from Tomiyasu mistake.

People are just using examples of what's normal. Goalkeepers take attackers out all the time and get away with it.

For once the ref is doing the right call, but it looks 'unusual'.

There's a big difference between a keeper going low to stop a shot and the attacker running into him, than the keeper flying out and whacking into the attacker.

The problem is, that these pens or fouls aren't whistling every time - thats the problem.

From the rules it's a clear one.

Yep, it’s not as if he denies Saka the goal scoring opportunity. He’s making himself as big as possible and him and Saka both collide with eachother. Not as if Ederson tackled him.

Traditionally, they pass other teams to death. The incorporation of Haaland has stopped that. I feel Pep has tried to gain back the extra man lost by sacrificing a defender and moving Bernardo to a nominal left back role, who then steps into midfield to create those passing overloads. It doesn't work.
I agree (also, they've played a midfielder at left back often between Delph/Zinchenko)

A lot has been made of Haaland disrupting the team, but they used to play with Aguero. Extremely well.

I'm starting to come around to the train of thought that City miss pace more than anything. As good as Haaland has been, he'd be more terrifying with pace around him to stretch teams and create space

what? Nketiah is taking a shot and Ederson comes flying over and clatters into him.

If Ederson doesn't do that they don't collide. The keeper has no right to smash into people.

Wasn’t a pen imo then either. However that was totally different - smalling was attempting to make a tackle - Ederson is literally just setting himself to block the ball and Nketiah keeps running.
I agree it's really soft. I don't think it was malicious by Ederson, the ball is gone, the shot has been taken but he does get him.

I don't like this idea that contact = penalty especially when the phase of play has moved on and the pass or shot has happened but that's the way it is now. :nervous:

Decided to pay attention to the keepers, and didn't notice anything special from him today. Every long pass has gone to an Arsenal head.
Ramsdale has had one decent medium pass - quickly wafted to the LB, and 1 punch from a corner. I think DDG makes the pass but not the punch, it was a little off his line.

yeah i agree with you on this. So as long as it is a fraction after shot can keeper just take out anyone shooting? Doesnt work that way.

Manchester united should send a dosier to the refs, maybe we will get decisions after that

Was it Nketiah? He’s coming out but not tackling him, I just don’t see it being a foul really. We won’t see another one given all season either.

i also second this. Although he prob is a huge help most of the time this certainly isnt the game to point to and try to say that he is such an important cog back there.

it's Ederson, so for me, it's a pen all day. That cnut.

in all seriousness, it's a close call. But if you do give the pen, I think it's a yellow too.

There is a reason so many people disagree on penalties these days…the lack of consistency!!

That play happens so often, and it’s never given. You could even see that in the players, nobody including the arsenal players knew what the ref had blown for.

If it was consistently given, most would agree but it’s not and now people question calls.

Hum it was Nketiah :nervous:
