Should Maguire be subbed on in the last minute if we're winning so he can lift the trophy?

I honestly like Maguire and I think he has a role to play at the club. Have him be 3rd choice who keeps Varane and Martinez on their toes.
I'm not convinced he is 3rd choice though. If Martinez is out I think ETH prefers Shaw at CB and in my opinion Lindelof should be ahead of Maguire too.

Still happy for him that he got to lift the trophy but I think for his and our sake he needs to go in the summer.

What 'constant abuse'? All of our players have gotten their share of abuse, Maguire might have been one of the top of the list, but it's not like it was undeserved. He's been a terrible signing and it's to be expected. If you are actively searching for people being mean to him on twitter or something, then that's your own fault, but I don't know what you expect. Why did you people have to bring this up right now? Let him be happy at, hopefully, his last season here
Deserved?

At the end of the day,
Is Maguire is a Man Utd player? Yes
Is he lifting the Carabao Cup? Yes

That's all that matters

Well handled by Ten Hag and Maguire.

Never deserved the abuse, it went well over the line.

Pleased for him and how skilfully his demotion/exit has been managed.

Clearly so we can send out his CV this summer with a massive picture of him in full kit lifting a trophy.

Genius.

I wouldn’t have done it if I were Maguire, just let Bruno lift the cup, but that’s me.

However, in my opinion, he deserves some praise for his mental strength.
He’s played well for England in the world cup, and bar a couple of hospital passes against Leeds he’s played well for us too this season, he got on with his job and did whatever the manager asked him to do well enough.
Even when he was asked to see out a win in the 88th minute, he got on with it.

The guy literally turned into a meme last season, even people who weren’t football fans knew who Maguire was at that point.
I mean, Joe Gomez has been absolutely shocking this season, miles worse than Maguire has ever been, his “performances” against Napoli and Madrid were the worst defensive displays I had ever seen at this level, but fortunately for him he didn’t cost 80m and isn’t the captain of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

I don’t know how I would’ve handled it, multi millionaire or not, I probably would’ve snapped, so credit to him for keeping his head and maintaining professionalism.

He probably won’t be here next season, but glad he managed to win a trophy as a Manchester United player.

Just let him lift a few more things this season and sell him quickly when the season ends. Could even ask for some more money because he has experience lifting a trophy and can share that invaluable experience with the squad of his new club...

EtH has managed it well. The season is still long. And with this, everyone is in happy mode and great for the harmony within the squad. There won't be any drama to feed of those wolves outside.

Harry has been true professional on and off the pitch, and I'm just happy he has good memory with United.

Almost like it is weird to make a thread mocking a player who plays for your club on the day the club wins a trophy.
Exactly. Some fecking weird people on here who just love to hate on someone. He’s the club captain so would have lifted the trophy in any case. Always has to be one player on here who seems to draw the haters.

He will probably leave in the summer but unlike Ronaldo has been getting on with it as a professional.

He is fifth choice though. Lindelof is the main deputy of Varane, and Shaw plays LCB when Martinez is not available.

I was very pleased for him

we know he will leave in the summer. and his time at Utd has mostly been difficult. (Although for his first two seasons I thought he was pretty good)

it was fantastic gesture from ETH. He could easily have brought in Lindelof who was good in his last game or malacia and move Shaw in. But it was the right thing to do I think
You speak with such certainty...

I'm delighted for every player at Man Utd and that includes Maguire and folk like Weghorst. Just be happy for everyone folk and that includes yourself too. Weghorst had won absolutely nothing in his career until now and if I can't be happy for guy's like then I'm just a miserable get. p.s I am putting Ajax on my Xmas Card List.

Happy for him? What are you even talking about? Happy for him and his defensive blunders? I am also not the one slagging Maguire right now, you guys brought him up for no reason when you should have been happy about lifting the trophy.
I can't believe I have to explain this but I think we should be happy for him and all the other United players when we win a trophy. And yes you are the one slagging him off, I'd call what you're doing intellectually dishonest but that's probably too nice of a way to describe it.

Us: We should be happy for him today.
You: So your point is that we should be happy that he's shite??!

Why should any player receive any abuse? Can't fans be decent human being who SUPPORT the club and the players? Is that so difficult?

Deserved in the sense that when he plays good (as rare as that is) he gets praised. When he plays bad (as often as that is), he gets criticism. Same as any other player in the world. Hell, even our best players like Bruno and Rashford have gotten their fair share of criticism over the years. It's part of the game. There's nothing really special about how Maguire is treated. If you guys are such humanitarians, why don't you go over the Glazer thread and start defending poor ol' Avi from the terribly evil United fans, as well? Or he doesn't have that special privilege?

He is crucified constantly on social media. Fair play if you stay off it but he has been the whipping boy of our club for at least a year, by our own fans and opposition fans.

I said nothing like that, though. Buzz basically said that the criticism towards Maguire has been unfair and I thought differently. Then he had the gall to call those criticizing Maguire over the years as 'fake' fans and then I asked him what makes him a 'real' fan and that's how the conversation snowballed. I never said I wasn't happy about Maguire lifting his trophy. I am. But to pretend he's been good for United and hasn't deserved his fair share of criticism as a player is pure lunacy.

Deserved given his performances. Not to mention the tone deaf posts and celebrations he's made over the years like that World Cup one.

Pleased he got to jointly loft the trophy. A nice farewell, the sort of thing we are good at doing as a club.

Have we not got better things to do today than slag off Maguire? He’s clearly on the way out of the club (and will go on to have a decent premier league career as he is a good defender for the right team) and I thought it was a nice touch by Erik.

The fact that you said something exactly like that is the reason I replied to you in the first place, then you did the same thing to me.

The amount of shit he’s taken from our “fan” base. He deserves that as a parting gift before he leaves in the summer. Happy for the lad
So what's your point? We should praise him for being shit?
Maybe we could try to be happy for him instead of berating him for doing what he's told to do.
Happy for him? What are you even talking about? Happy for him and his defensive blunders?

Genuinely happy for Maguire. I’ve criticized him a lot and am happy to see him lift a trophy. I hope he gets a good move in the summer and can find some form at another club.

No, there is not really anything special about how Maguire has been treated. Fred and McTominay have also got their fair share of abuse, sometimes even more than Harry. Look at Fred now - people are loving him. He found his place in the team and he's having fun. You're acting like people have it in on Maguire when the reality is he's just not good enough for United and that's it. There's nothing really all that deep to it.

The fact that you said something exactly like that is the reason I replied to you in the first place, then you did the same thing to me.
What part of what I said was wrong? I can't praise shit performances. 'Good one Harry, for giving that penalty.'. Is that what we, as United fans, are supposed to do? I never said anything about him lifting the trophy or him being undeserving of lifting it. The whole argument was about how Maguire has gotten slack for his PAST performances
