Liverpool are always capable of putting in these big performances. They had a rough start to the season then stuck 9 past Bournmouth. If you’re not 100% on it they can smash you, but it should never happen to a side like United with experienced players and high aspirations. We just gave up at 2-0.
Surreal. Not that bothered though because they aren't that good and we have been lately. A freak result.

We played well in the first half. Rode their early momentum and nearly scored a couple of times. We conceded 2 goals at the worst possible time.
Then it’s just a perfect storm or our worst half of the season and their best by a mile. After the double header with Barca and the cup final, our thin squad was always going to turn out a performance like this at some stage.

All joking aside, I understood at 3-0 what type of game it was.
Simulation glitch, every slip helps them, every slip they have, just misses us, random bounces land to their talisman 12 yards out, his shot hits the bar and goes in, their striker heads it off the back of his head, our player kicks the ball against his own man and it lands to their player for a tap in, our RB stands IN THE GOAL not on the line.

Well, but we bottled it big time today. Not often in the last few months we've had to say that, but that's what happened. Loads of players put in their worst performance for ages at the same time? Not a coincidence. Anfield has been a graveyard too many times for us in recent years, it feels like it's hanging over us. We looked inhibited from the start, never believed we'd win, and when it started to go wrong, we gave up. I'm sure tiredness didnt help, but that's no excuse.
Hard to know where to start with the poor performances. Keeper was repeatedly bypassed far too easily. Backline looked shaky as hell. Midfield never got a hold of the ball, and gave up when the going got tough. Front line made a few chances early on but failed to bury them when needed. Even ETH was off key today, his selection didn't work and we were 3-0 down before we made a change. Plenty of blame to go round.
That said, 7 goals from those chances was pretty freaky. If this had "only" finished 3-0 or 4-0 I'd have called that a more fair reflection. But when you stop trying, you give your opponents the confidence to start banging in goals every time they kick the ball.
Doesn't really derail our season, as long as we can draw a line under today as a bad day at the office and move on. We're still on course for top four, have a decent chance in two cup competitions and have one pot in the cupboard. But it's a huge reality check for us, and ends any talk of a title run. 16 goals conceded away to City, Liverpool and Arsenal show that we've another level entirely to find in these big games before we have a chance of stepping up.

We were actually the better side in the first half. Completely lost it when that second goal went in.
Just forget 2nd half and move on. Think its more a mental block for us rather than a lack of quality. The scoreline is not the true reflection of the game. We were good for a good 45 mins. We managed their high tempo at start of 1st half, but failed to manage their high tempo in the 2nd half. Thats all.
One of the most bizarre games of football I’ve ever seen. Were the better team first half and were unlucky to go in a goal down then every single one of our players collectively shit the bed in the second half. Every mistake we made seemed to get punished and they basically scored from every shot on target they had. Not one player gave an iota of a feck about that. Not one of them.
Some are either scared of hostile stadiums or treat a derby as any other game.
One of those where the players gave up and didn't care that United were on the end of a historic mauling, it's just us who have this burned into our minds forever.

I actually don’t feel that bad. Yes it was humiliating but we matched them in the first half. We just conceded a silly goal at the start of the second half and lost discipline as we tried to get back into the game by pumping players up front.
We played badly yes but only after the second goal. We should build on the first half positives. It’s only ETH first season and the rebuilding will continue.

Don't even know what to say. A Liverpool team that have been poor this year... United in some of there best form in years and that happens. We should never ever be losing 7-0 to any team and that is just stunningly bad.
