The 7 nil is even more atrocious when you think that Liverpool's annual whipping boys Evertons biggest lost was by 4 goals back in 2016. We lost by seven ...
Yeah fecking disgraceful

Do you think Klopp loses any sleep about the villa 7-2?
Sometimes it happens.
Every shot goes in, every deflection rolls the ball into the opponent’s stride.
Either you get over it or you wallow in self pity.
your choice.
That was not against rival, also there was no fans in the stadium either so doesn't compare

Weird performance. Seemed totally distracted and demoralised. Probably just an unrelated blip but i wouldnt be amazed to find out the club sale has fallen through in the next few days.

I reckon that's our title aspirations done, right
It was always a bit of a stretch really. If we can finish third or even fourth then thats a solid return in the context of recent years really.

7 goals conceded are 7 goals conceded, circumstances doesn't matter. Stadium being empty was even worse, there was no hostile atmosphere against them.

The "no big deal" gang is ridiculous. It is a big deal. The progress we have made has been put to shame here. I am sure ETH realizes it, unlike some of the true reds postin here.

Just watched back on the goals again for my own personal punishment. Would be an insult to schoolboys to call the woeful defending schoolboy defending. Alarming amount of basic errors it was like the last few seasons of giving away cheap goals all came roaring back in one game.

How many opportunities had United to clear their lines on the 2nd and 4th goals and what the hell was Shaw at for the 6th goal. Won't surprise me if Liverpool don't score at all in their next game against Bournemouth sure only last week they didn't score against Palace.

Errors will always be made. Fred made one error and we lost a goal. I don’t think you can blame the defeat on that. If our tactics were working and we were one or two goals up and you get basic individual errors maybe but apart from a couple of chances we weren’t on top.

I don’t agree that we don’t have the players to stop this Liverpool team from dominating the midfield. ETH didn’t select a midfield who could do it. Sabitzer should have played. Liverpool enjoyed playing against us and that shouldn’t have happened. As stated, the errors are, to some degree, caused by the tactics and team selection. Liverpool got their tails up and we fell apart.

I agree we need to strengthen, of course, I just don’t think we went about it the right way today.
We lost the game due to errors but the tactical plan was working in the first half.

And it wasn't about trying to get on top but rather about playing a certain way which has served us well so far this season where we've won 16 of the 21 games played since the world cup and drawn three. And if we had lost with Sabitzer in the team, then another player who didn't start should've played in a hypothetical scenario.

The truth is it was a very bad day at the office and we were playing a team that has been coached to build through the thirds starting with their goalkeeper. And you can't hand Liverpool a two goal lead on a plate like Fred and Shaw did with really basic errors at Anfield.

Let the "don't be stupid, our cieling is top 4 at most" brigade have their fun then. Some people have been quick to shut down any talk of further ambition as if talking about it is bad or something.
we are MU and we shall always have trophy ambitions. I am confident we will be contender next year. But this season, top 4 is our worth in the league.

And let's be clear. We may get top 4 and add other 2 trophies to this season, yet being trashed as a 3rd league team by Liverpool in our worst defeat since 1931 was a humiliation that will always hurt

Out coached, out played, out fought.

This team has some serious work to do to make this up to us all as the lack of professionalism in the second half was mind blowing. Everyone keeps telling me our defence is amazing now, yet we continually ship goals to the big teams. In Erik we trust, but he has a hell of a job on his hands if today is anything to go by

Yeah it's massive really. Don't get me wrong, any team can ship a hefty defeat. I'd take a 3-0 drubbing at Anfield every season if it meant we'd win the league in those seasons.

But 7-0 is something else entirely. The entire squad just stumbled into one of the worst defeats the club has ever tasted, and against our bitter rivals to boot. Bad individually, collectively, mentally, game management, subs, tactics when it started going pear-shaped... it all just went wrong.

This ridiculously heavy defeat could have been avoided if we went damage limitation at 3-0/4-0 but nope we did a City and kept attacking like dumb asses

Embarrassing and awful.

We're still years behind City.

The only result that can put this ruthless mauling out of mind is if we end up winning the Europa. I can't see us winning it.

My opinion is every player should be fined for that performance with the money covering the tickets and travel expenses of the traveling fans. The balance should go to charity,
definitely should be done. and goes a long way to getting the fans back on the team's side

Am I the only one who isn't that bothered by the result? I mean yeah it always sucks to lose 0-7 but I'm not extra disappointed beyond that. There's clearly progress being made this season and one game doesn't erase that. We've beat City and Barca so far this season, two of the top teams in world football and we've already won a trophy!

Also, I'm having big problems formatting posts on mobile today. Not sure if that's just me.

Yes it is a big deal, a complete mental capitulation in the 2nd half. And that is tremendously worrying. But we have a lot more information now than we did after two other similar disasters earlier this season - the Brentford match or the City match. It's entirely possible the squad implodes and this destroys our season. Changes are needed and it is their job to figure them out how to right the wrongs. But I think the manager and the players have done enough before today to earn the faith that they can rebound from this.

Worst performance in our history and joint 2nd darkest day ever with relegation in 74
It doesn’t matter that we beat Barca, it doesn’t matter that we won the cup against Newcastle thanks to this result.
You two need to give your heads a huge wobble.

At the end of the season, we’ll have silverware (hopefully more than just the CC) and Liverpool will have, um, what’s awarded for beating a team 7-0 again? Oh yeah, nothing.

Do you think any Arsenal fans will still give a shit that we demolished them 8-2 all those years ago if they win the league this season? Do you think any Liverpool fans today still care that the mighty Villa put as many goals past them in 2020 as they put past us today?

Come the end of this season, if we finish top 4 with the Carabao cup at ETH’s first attempt, that is really good. If we can finish top 4 with two or three cups in ETH’s first season that will be phenomenal, and one shitty result at Anfield won’t have changed a thing.

Not bothered by a humiliating 7 -0 drubbing by Liverpool?

When did you start supporting Utd?

If we lose a pre season match to them I am almost punching the walls , I just cannot understand how any Utd fan could not be bothered by a defeat to them nevermind what today's shambles was, and there seems to be a few of them here.

Pep in his first season went all out attack too, its the standard set.

I dont care about the 7-0 for me it's 3 points dropped pretty much every shot on target went in, and the players some of them won't be here long I don't think, we need big upgrades in pivotal positions.

Today won't repeat, it's just one of those moments imo.

I think United need the same targets we always needed and a deep squad.

Managers like ETH aren't happy to just sit back, nor are the likes of Pep

I dont care much for tribalism in sport, I have respect for Liverpool and their history and yes they're a major rival.

They're not a hollow club like City or Chelsea. Liverpool needed the win more than United, Anfield is always tough and United have had a lot of games, I thought a point was a good result pregame and the title was never going to happen

No we don't, just see that poster below who said even a defeat in a pre season makes him want to punch nearest wall

Wanting to punch a wall because of a pre-season friendly sounds like the reaction of a man-child. Do you guys seriously have nothing more important to care about in your lives?

I'm sure something like that is written in their contracts. Everybody signs contracts that include fines if you don't perform. Maybe your employer included it in your employment?

Trying to be rational, understand it's a one-off etc.....BUT. This is against Liverpool. No matter what, we should never concede like this. The performance was woeful. I get tiredness, I get that some are new, I have tolerance for defeat. I don't accept any United team ever giving up like this. No. Way. Ever. Ever.
