how much free time you've got?

I'd say a lot.
Considering you replied… I’d wager you have time on your side as well
Unless you just wanted the laughs on someone else’s expense.

Argentina organizing a friendly against Curacao and Messi playing 90 min in it….
The reigning World Champions’ last 6 friendlies (FIFA-ranking):
Estonia (109), Honduras (81), Jamaica (64), UAE (70), Panama (61) and Curaçao (86).
Goaldifference: 25-0

CR7‘s not the only one doing hard stat padding for his NT these days.
…hope he‘s fit for Sundays match in the only tournament he’s still in, Ligue 1 (soon to be outside the top 5 leagues in Europe), with his sportswashing broiler team.

International football as a whole is so inflated these days. Romelu Lukaku has 72 in about 100 games, Memphis Depay is very close to becoming Netherlands all timer etc…

I don’t think anyone is angry about it, but it is worth talking about that Argentina are organising friendlies seemingly with the sole purpose of getting Messi to catch up with Ronaldo.

They could play against a team of fans from the stand and I would still enjoy watching Messi play football

I think its more about them basking in the light of being wc champions and enjoying the holiday. I honestly dont think Messi can or is looking to break Ronaldos international record.

Curacao are 86th in the world rankings, San Marino are 211th. Imagine being 125 places below Curacao.

Its not, because its a made up scenario among fans.

Argentina is arranging friendles to go on a tour of enjoyable football matches where the chances of scoring a lot of goals is higher. They are the reigning world champions. The purpose of these friendlies is to celebrate their World Cup victory with the fans of Argentina, score a lot of goals, celebrate and be happy. As you must be aware, football is more than just a game over there, its the next closest thing to religion. Leo Messi winning the world cup is the biggest thing that has happened to everyone too young to have experienced Maradona doing the same.

There is genuinely no purpose in attempting to friendly Brazil and potentially lose or draw a game at this stage, that comes later. Right now, the entire purpose is to put on a spectacle for the crowd who are loving every second of life when they are at the stadium watching their beloved La Albiceleste don their white and blue, with Leo Messi as their captain.

San Marino have started playing minnows from across the world. They lost to St Lucia last year and then drew the second game. San Marino should play teams from Oceania next

I wonder how many international goals he would have if he got to play the likes of Lichtenstein, San Marino and Luxembourg.

Remember Estonia?

Anyway, easy work by the World Champion.

I too received that statement from the official Messi fanclub.

To be fair he has hat tricks against panama, Haiti, Guatemala and Curaçao. And plenty against likes of Hong kong, Estonia, uae, Nicaragua.

As with kane, you can only score again ta what's in front of you,but I imagine messi would have a similar record in Europe

Who’s angry?
I just think putting the world champs up against cannonfodder in meaningless friendlies for Messi to score a few easy goals to embellish his stats is a bit, meh.
In their last 6 friendlies he’s scored 14… against teams ranked between 61 and 109 on the FIFA ranking.
He has 48 goals in 53 friendlies in his career for Argentina
He has 54 goals in 121 official games in his career for Argentina
See the point?

It’ll be interesting to see who Portugal books for their next friendlies.

If these friendlies didn’t count against the recordbooks, my guess is Messi wouldn’t travel half the world to play'em.

Yeah they organised a World Cup in which Ronaldo seemingly did not play and Messi scored 7 goals. All to bump up Messi's figures and get him closer to CR7. The absolute cheek of the AFA.....

Argentina's next match against Craggy Island will surely be a big test

Probably upset that Messi now has more international goal contributions than his great rival, having played 24 less games. The net is tightening, thanks to the AFA specifically organising games with the sole purpose of bumping up Messi's figures. Allegedly.

So, Argentina organises friendlies with the "sole purpose" of enabling Messi to score goals and then the ungrateful bastard goes and lets another player take a pen

If you take away his goals, technique, passing and creativity, he's nothing special as a player.

How can people believe that Messi is obsessed about Ronaldo's international record , after he just won the WC with Argentina.

So ridiculous, he even gave a penalty to Di Maria
