Redknapp claiming Steele has been fantastic…every shot on target has been straight at him. The only danger would be if he was a polo mint

Very entertaining half. We've made a lot of chances but as usual can't finish. I can somewhat excuse Rashford and Martial's misses as they were on their weaker side, but Antony's miss was inexcusable.

Defense is holding up somewhat. Brighton have been restricted to pot shots apart from the Mitoma one. But now that Casemiro is on a yellow, we'll need to be more careful.

The big concern is if we can keep the energy in the second half. Past patterns say no but I'll remain hopeful. We'll get more chances due to their playing style, so the game is there to be won.

Typical theme lately of feeling like we should've scored.

We're playing well but the midfield is too loose with the ball especially Casemiro.

Martial getting more stick than he deserves tbh. The 5 the MEN gave his is unfair as well, probably been a 6.5, nothing special but had a couple of openings which is what you want from a striker.

If we can get him in again in the second half, then we're doing the right things. Hopefully he takes one.
What I want from a striker is goals. Energy and effort wouldn't go amiss either.

Brighton are a fecking lucky team, the ball bounces their way and they get every call. Feck them and all the hype around them
They’re very good at the press and also creating the right shape to find each other well for tiki taka or quick passes in general.
Brighton are annoyingly good, I'll be glad when the they go down eventually.
They’re gonna make a fortune with a couple of sales, if they keep this manager for a season or two their fine.
Odd feeling he could*** be up for the city job when pep leaves if he keeps this up. I’m just trying to think if the team he had now had one of Haaland, Graelish or Gundogan what the score would be.
got to sell big I feel
Maguire, McTominay and Fred. Who else can we sell realistically for anything decent. But FFP means us getting people off the books right, so maybe even people on big wages just getting rid for free almost. Could be 150 then

Once again I feel like the opposition have a playing style, and we just have a bunch of players on the pitch hoping to find a pass to another one. Their passing and movement is far superior to ours.

Also, Casemiro looks well behind the pace - slow and clumsy.
I think Casemiro's been fine apart from some rushed passes at the start. He's not going to be outpacing 18 year olds.

In terms of style, as much as it hurts to say it, Brighton have players who are more comfortable on the ball and better at precise short passing than a lot of our players. When you have Fred randomly slicing the ball with no pressure, you can have whatever style you like, you'll look bad

Think we're playing well but man this season could've been different if we only took half our missed chances.

Dalot, Lindelof, Bissaka and Fred are playing not well at all, sadly. Casemiro also not at his best (but could have scored a header). Attackers were wasteful

People opine that we’ll get our arses handed to us this lot and then when we play well and should probably be beating them at half time people opine that we’re not good enough. Make it make sense :wenger:
It’s different people, maybe? That’s the thing with people.

Get Fred off and Sabitzer on. Fred is a liability and appears to be worse than usual. Otherwise we are doing OK but letting Brighton run through us on the break.
Fred has won the ball back multiple times and linked up well. Literally just that 1 bad pass in his own half.

What is Redknapp smoking? Acting like we've been completely outplayed.

So what's this new trend of teams allowing skys cameras in their dressing room about?

I've never liked Sanchez personally. If we are going for a PL keeper to replace De Gea I'd prefer Raya
I like Sanchez and think he would do a decent job for us, but he'd be a downgrade from De Gea.
Sanchez has been benched because he cannot use his feet and pass out from the back which is essentially the main complaint with DDG. He is a decent player but he would not offer any sort of upgrade at this point.
Good to see some likeminded opinions on him. Seems like renewing DDG as a backup but knowing Raya is first up as the potential number 1, knowing Raya could be very cost effective, is the way to go.

That half time show is a disgrace. We had more and better chances and they’ve just made it look like a one sided battering by Brighton

Just realised the Brighton keeper is Jason Steele, he was terrible at Middlesbrough

The worrying aspect is that we are always shite in the second half and it’s only 0-0

I have to say I'm a bit worried this scoring rut we are in is gonna be a big problem in the run in.

Could really do with Garnacho to help out

I don't think the club will really allow him to leave because he's a very good player from the academy and all that narrative. It'll take a massive call under EtH or whoever to bin him off for the greater good of the team, which I'd be fine with but it's obviously no guarantee.
I'm not saying bin him off, because he's a good player, but I don't think he's the level of player that we should always be taking into account when considering ways to improve the team as a whole, if that makes sense? Like if we think the team as a whole improves significantly with a particular player, but Rashford might not mesh well with them, we shouldn't put who he would have chemistry with over who would be better for the team as a whole.

Can’t believe we’ve kept the the mighty Brighton 0-0 in that first half.
Gotta go play the lotto tomorrow

Whether its Martial or Wout we're severely handicapped with the shite forwards we have. Top 4 would be done and dusted if we just had a semi-competent striker

Fred is absolute chaos, for us. Cannot retain possession or press coherently with the rest, he's a disaster waiting to happen.

He needs to be sold in summer and a player brought in who's much, much better on the ball when being pressed.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
If Brighton decide to bypass their midfield and go long they will cause us so many problems. With them playing from the back, the pitch becomes extremely big for them and we are pressing them effectively. I dont if it's only me but it seems all second balls fall for Brighton players.

But we are playing well everything held constant. A elite striker and 2 controlling midfielders we will transform this team immensely.
This is something we seem to see almost every game. Our squads desire to win lose balls is really lacking and it makes things more difficult to for us in every game.

good 1st half, created some decent chances against a good team, most shots Brighton have faced at home in a half. We have a bad habit of a good 1st half then poor 2nd, I hope we can maintain this into 2nd half

Casemiro really annoys me with his passing, why is he playing like Bruno at the base of the midfield?

We tend to collapse in away games in the second half... gonna be a tough 45
