Can't blame Brighton for celebrating like that. After the penalty heartache for them, they were up for this game.

City 87 goals, Arsenal 81 goals, Liverpool 66 goals, Spurs 63 goals, Brighton 62 goals, Newcastle 61 goals, Brentford 52 goals, Man Utd 49 goals.

Anyone who thinks we can settle for less than a ready made, world-class striker in the summer is delusional. Our lack of goals is embarrassing. Only Everton and Chelsea have underperformed their xg more than we have. Neither of the strikers we have are good enough to be at our club and aside from Rashford we have no reliable finisher. Impossible for a team to ever challenge until they fix that goalscoring issue

The players looked very tired in the second half. Some of our decisions and passing were awful. We will get top four but it might go down to the last two games. Not having a world class striker is killing us right now.
We also need a no.8 to dominate the midfield. We are too dependant on Casemiro. And he starts every match with a yellow.

Positive we didn't lose by a large margin.
Hopefully we will use attackers to lead the line next match.

We are so reliant or Bruno or rashford conjuring something from nothing. Other than that stupid short corner routine, we don't seem to have any patterns of play... Also noticed fred playing much further forward than bruno all game, which is just stupid and obviously stupid at that.

I don't think we were outclassed. First half we were the better team, they were reduced to long shots and a Lindelof brain fart.

They were much more on top in the second, but still it was mainly long range efforts they threatened with. They have a lot of skillful, tidy players who just run with the ball a lot. Not much end product though. You could tell which team has played about 15 more games this season.

Horrible way to lose. It definitely hits his hand but it looked more like Shaw was being man handled, it wasn't one of those ones where a player jumps up and punches it off a players head. Mariner couldn't wait to give it though.

And it was never a FK against Shaw in the build up to their goal. All the pressure in that last minute came from the ref giving them soft shit like that all match.
Dont agree there, they have looked a far better team than us in both games, we looked half dangerous at times on the counter, but the fact we're reduced to playing on the counter says it all really. A really intelligent, tidy team against a team with some better individuals but thick as pig shit.

Did Brighton win the Champions League or something. Why the OTT celebrations with Sky? What did I miss?

I honestly can't believe that second half performance. Absolute garbage from the kickoff. Couldn't pass the ball around for three seconds before it ended up at a Brighton players feet. Absolutely incredible, how they can shift that fast. From being the better side in the first half to completely giving up during the break. I just can't understand it and it's really annoying me right now.

And for Gods sake Shaw, why even attempt to lift your arms in the box at the end of the game. Had a very good game other than that, but man, come on ffs.

I've not been this mad since that fecking game at anfield. fecking cowards.

At least we usually bounce back from losses. Thankfully only two more away games left, need to win one and draw one at a minimum.

This team always finds new and spectacular ways to let you down. It’s almost impressive how consistent they are at it.

Then go support them. We've played almost twice as many games and had to play midweek fixtures consecutively for almost half the season. Do you honestly not understand how that can affect the players?
Relax man, all I’m saying is they play great football. I understand that we have injuries and fatigue. We should have taken one of the chances in the first half but overall Brighton deserved the win.
Its frustrating, but we just have to win the next few games, and they’re much more winnable.

The ref didn't really need to go look at the monitor. One look at Shaw's face and he would have had no doubt.

Typical overreaction on here. We were seconds away from a decent point away to a (supposedly) good side. Bad luck.
Shit happens. If we got the point it would have been a decent result.
Our attack was poor it has to be said. Midfield not good either. Nothing to do with the result but I was disappointed with Brighton. Especially Mitoma, the diving prick ! Yeah they had most of the ball but they created SFA . The fact remains that we need 3 more wins to get top 4 and we are in the cup final having already won a cup.
Not too shabby.

First half was a really good game from both teams, second half we just could get no control at all on the match and we probably deserved to lose. Very close to a couple of red cards from our Brazilian hotheads.

Was ready to say what an exceptional performance from Luke Shaw it was, and it was up until that penalty :wenger:

Oh well, bounce back against West Ham and then the Wolves and Bournemouth matches will probably decide our fate.

Disgraceful. The foul leading it up to that passage of play was ridiculous. And Shaw gets booked to go with it. We had some good chances though. And if you can’t finish those then shit like this happens.

No one had a good game, so it's probably harsh to single out any one player, but I thought we lost this primarily in midfield. It looked as if we generally set out not to press the ball but to clog the passing channels, and Brighton still got plenty of joy playing around the blocks - and we never seemed to have a good midfield shape defending the runners - though some of that could be attributed to a poor tactical approach. That said, we were also incredibly sloppy on the ball - I thought Casemiro used the ball particularly poorly, and we couldn't get Bruno on the ball enough. Our passive away performances are certainly worrying, and in what has been a very good season from Ten Hag - this is a definite area for improvement.

2-3 games a week, virtually every single a week since FECKING JANUARY! Anyone berating the players without taking that into account isn't worth the fecking oxygen it takes to come onto this forum and spew their childish petulant garbage. Fecking cesspool full of children that can't wrap their brain around anything more complex than FIFA or FM. You should all be thoroughly embarrassed
Loser mentality. Oh poor us we are tiredy. Need some resty westy. Im sure thats what Roy Keane would have said in the changing room post match if he was playing. Its alright lads I know you are tired. Go home and dont worry about it. Its embarrassing

I try to console myself that 5th is okay because we are not a finished article but then again, if we don't get top 4 now with Liverpool and Chelsea is dismay, will we get a chance next season? I only watch the 2nd half and we were poor. Nobody could actually hold the ball. I think Utd is a 1st half team, but I rather we becomes a 2nd half team. Something that Eric needs to work on.
The problem is 5th means Europa, which brings a lot of extra fixtures, particularly if we don’t do our job and win the group. It hampers our league performances so much.

I really wish the club would do what all other English clubs do and sack off Europa League if we end up in it. Focus on the league, rest players in Europe. United should only care about the Champions League.

FA should look at VAR on giving free kick. What the point of players cheating to get free kick and the opponent score?! If it is a non freekick them VAR should overwrite the referee decision. In NBA, all teams are allow 1 challenge and if challenge is successful, the decision is overturn. I think FA needs to implement this. All team only get 1 chance. Teams usually only use it nearing the end of the game.

I tried to count how many consecutive passes we could string together in the second half, five was the highest we achieved it was shambolic.

I fully back ETH but to have not addressed second half performances and away from at this point of the season is a little concerning.

West Ham is a must win to ensure top 4 doesn't become a pressure cooker.

We've been on the downward slide since knocking Barcelona out of the Europa. It's just been a steady decline, a total loss in mentality and injuries to boot. We are going to quite literally crawl over the line and make 4th place, but we will make it as tough as it possibly can be for ourselves. There is a serious 2nd half issue with us that is as obvious as day. The issue is that it's not being addressed. They are clearly aware of it but it keeps happening. Playing the ball out from the back with a team that have a major problem with successful passing is a recipe for disaster, especially when the back line do not appear to have any confidence in DDG. It's just the same old same old with United. We play the ball out or the ball is kicked out into the midfield. If we win the ball we either lose it with a misplaced pass or the ball goes to the opposition from the get go. From time to time we will turn the play into an attack but it will be a half hearted attempt, void of fresh ideas and predictable. This team are extremely frustrating to watch.

Should have gone in ahead at half time, but didn't due to wasteful finishing. Second half was poor, we looked slow and fatigued, and could barely string passes together.

Brighton weren't scoring without that penalty, which was gifted by a ridiculous dive that the ref fell for, but we're forced to hang on because we aren't very good at holding onto the ball under pressure.
Shaws hand ball that gave the pen. Hes got no brains he knows having his hand up that high and flicking the ball will be spotted by var

They're creating their own history. They've scored a 99th minute winner and almost certainly got themselves a place in Europe for the first time ever.

It's understandable.

We done nothing in that second half except invite pressure. No out balls, no composure, nothing and it was only a matter of time before they scored. A sickener for Shaw who had a good game, unlike Fred and Casemiro who I thought were poor again. Ten Hag’s substitutions didn’t help either. Why leave Eriksen on the bench?

Bad result but all my hate and frustration is towards getting the parasites out this club because it’s the ONLY way forward

Fully deserved. Typical 2nd half disasterclass away from home. We start bad and then the subs always make it even worse, every single time.

But he's right. Our parasite owners have left us with no squad and we were still in for 3 trophy's until recently.

Shaw is being pulled back by Dunk causing arms to be in an unnatural position. Bullshit decision that never gets called up on.

You can’t compensate for Fred giving the ball away constantly, Martial dithering about the pitch, two players losing their heads at the slightest ounce of pressure, the ref being inconsistent and largely terrible, De Gea punting it back to the opposition over and over again, Luke shaw throwing his hands in the air for no apparent reason, weghorst being weghorst and having no attacking fullbacks… this is just what you end up with

No it isn't, not even close to being gone.
We need to regroup and produce a proper performance against West Ham, this is now a must win game and we need to dominate the ball, second to so many lose balls, our finishing is seriously worrying and this team just needs to win 3 from 5 games which is what we would have to have done even if we got a draw.

The fact is we have put ourselves again in a tricky position we should have beaten spurs easily and other results where we didn’t kill games off, I guess the only advantage of not getting top 4 and it’s certainly not as locked on as people think is that the Glazers will definitely want to get out of a sinking ship, maybe if it means getting rid of the goblins, most united fans would take 5th place right now?

Any pathetic lack lustre performances in the last 2/3 years is on them, average recruitment, the stadium and club left leaderless and clueless why they bleed dividends and debt out of the club and if SJR wants to keep two of them, he’s just as bad and all the Glazers must leave and leave asap.

In fairness to him the replay shows Lindelof basically jumped up into his arm, which sent it up into the ball. More unlucky than anything, as he was just using his arms to jump.

I was joking. Some of the negatively on here would have you think top 4 was gone. If Liverpool beat Brentford on Saturday then our game v West Ham is absolutely massive, win that and I think we’ll be ok.
