I think both Tchouameni and Bellingham were far better.

But don't take my word for it, let use some stats:

https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1697726/Preview/International-FIFA-World-Cup-2022-England-France

According to whoscored he wasn't the best midfielder, but the 4th out of 5. Only above Henderson.
Those ratings aren't for last night. Probably tournament average or something.

I only bothered to check because I was gobsmacked that Mbappe was somehow France's highest rated player

You're right, it seems the one I shared is the world cup average. The one you shared is for last night's game. Funny that he still is the joint 3-4th best tied with Rabiot.

Just proves my point further, he's nothing special really. Solid defensively but offers little to nothing in attack.

At the price quoted about, I'd be really disappointed if we were to sign him. West Ham would probably want north of 100m GBP to sanction any such deal.

Hopefully Chelsea blow £100+ on him.

His legs had gone for the 1st goal as well, Odegaard breezed past him. I don't watch him week in week out. I'm sure he has better games. But if you're a big club and planning on spending the rumoured numbers you're gonna be watching him in the big games like yesterday.

Just wanted to give him a shoutout. When Rashford went for that shot, missed, and collided with Rice, Rice immediately signalled to the ref that there was nothing in that. I feel like 99% of players would've tried to get him booked there so that was nice.

First half wasn't too special but really came to life as spaces opened up and he could power through our midfield like they weren't even there.

Predicted he'd be man of the match before the game. Dominated us as usual.

Should be top of our list for the summer but i doubt we can afford him.

Was absolutely fantastic. I think the worries about his ability on the ball are overstated - he is technically excellent, at least in this West Ham set up.

Have to say I was impressed by him. He really played intelligently and managed to intercepted most of our passes to stop an attack and involved in the counterattack at the same time. His style made me think of Carrick. No nonsense and keep everything simple. Read the game well and break off the opponent attacks with grace.
Unfortunately we arent going to get him unless we get a new rich owner.

Him and Soucek back in top4 form, or are does our midfield just suck so we can't beat one of the worst teams in the league without creating any clear cut any chances...

Not at all the sort of midfielder you'd pair with Casemiro so irrelevant to us as a potential signing, but he's good at what he does. Played well today.

I like Rice. Always wanted us to sign him because of his spirit, he is a leader and we don't have a leader like him

Exactly player that we need , hope ETH saw that today

Didn't look at stats for the game but it certainly seemed like he put in a great performance. Far too good for West Ham but also sure to be too expensive for most to justify.

Why not? He carries the ball, influences the game, intercepted numerous passes, calm and collected - sounds perfect to me

Wouldn't judge any player based on how they play against us. We could make championship players look class

We're desperately crying out for a press-resistant midfielder. That's why FDJ was so heavily targeted last summer. Rice isn't that, at all.

Someone like Caicedo wouldn't be perfect, but he'd obviously be a much better fit if even if we just limited ourselves to big money signings from the PL. There's no reason for us to opt to sign Rice as the midfielder we need.

Apparently his first priority is getting DDG extended after the game today :nervous:

Take central midfield performances against us with a pinch of salt. We get overrun and lose midfield duels every week. It’s how a target performs against the other big teams to see how good they really are.

0 assists, 0 goals, 1 shot, 2 tackles, 0 shots on target, 0 key passes, 64 touches.

Some of you have the lowest bar possible.
Yeah it’s like people automatically look for what validation they can find for their bias.

He had two runs on the left when they tried to break that ended up in sweet faff all. We were lionising possession but for a 15 minutes spell at the beginning of the 2nd half (which was expected).

He’s a glorified CB.
