There is a weird narrative currently that De Zerbi joined Brighton late in the season. He joined in September!

For me it's Pep. Proved he's the best in the division and the best tactician of all time. The tactical switch midseason to an innovative system that we've never seen and no one else uses was a masterstroke and for me the reason why he should win it. Yes other managers had bigger surprises. But when novel tactical innovations take place and they have such a resounding impact, it's a clear sign of managerial knowhow. If not him, Di Zerbi, for similar reasons.

The league is over but not the whole season. If Pep does the treble you simply can’t deny him it.

De Zerbi and Howe have also performed near miracles.

Sorry I don’t mean to, I just think history books will show them as being a very successful club in the pep era regardless of what we think.
The whole “All of city’s trophies have an asterisk by them, no one takes the trophies they win seriously“ is just a coping mechanism. As you said, history will simply show that they were the dominant team of this period.

Yeah, in much the same way that history simply shows that Juventus* were the dominant Serie A team of the early to mid 00s.

The ones i've been most impressed with are: De Zerbi, Howe and Emery.

Howe probably. Lost to us in the league cup final and ran us close for 3rd, all with a squad that cost significantly less

What exactly did he switch?

Has to be Pep. Arteta second. ETH not getting a lot of love. He’s transformed us this season whilst also dealing with issues like Maguire and Ronaldo and improving players like Rashford, AWB and Lindelof. We also beat Howes Newcastle with ease in the final and finished above them

I think you can't look past pep for number 1. How do you applaud coming second and ignore coming first. Saying arteta due to improvement is somehow rewarding arsenal this season for being extremely shit last season.

Can't be Pep, he won the league last season then bought the best striker going, its only because of Arsenal the league was interesting.
If Utd win the FA cup then ETH gets my vote, if they don't then Howe.

De Zerbi - implementing attractive play style immediately while coming late to the league
Arteta - give Pep a run for his money without star player
Howe - Built a resilient team, truly an underdog, and managed to get a UCL spot

I'm surprised that some of you think Pep and EtH are in contention for Manager of the Year.

Pep has a freak goalscorer, and EtH has spent almost 200 mil for 3 players.
So if we managed to snag a great deal for kane or osimen and they proceed to score 40 league goals for us and we win everything ten hag automatically loses running for manager because he got a good player .... What is this logic.

Snagging the freak at a really affordable price is part of the success story. You can't just ignore it.

The difference here is let's say Ten Hag got Kane and won the league, he's winning it against the most financially doped football team in history.

Really affordable? If you ignore the agent fee, his Dad's fee, his published wages and whatever he's getting paid under the table then sure. It's almost like a real life fairytale.

De Zerbi and Howe. Overachieved massively.

Arteta third, nobody expected them to be first at any point but he's spent a lot and I don't think they'll be anywhere near next season.

While we are living proof money alone doesn't buy success. You need great management as well.

Unai Emery for me. Villa's confidence was through the floor under Gerrard and they were in the mix with Leicester and co when he took over. Turning that around and getting them to qualify for Europe is some achievement.

A poll for this could be intriguing.

Eddie Howe for me. De Zerbi, Emery, and Gary O'Neil are honourable mentions.

Who would yours be? Maybe a top three.

For me

1. Arteta - To transform Arsenal into title contenders, leading the league for most of the season from where they were last season was incredible.

2. Howe - No one expected Newcastle to be in the top four. Fantastic achievement.

3. De Zerbi - Brighton play probably the best football in the world.
Respectfully disagree. I don’t think Arteta did transform Arsenal into title contenders. I know that sounds weird and maybe my head needs a wobble but bear with me. (1) He tanked every other competition just so he could focus on the league. Playing a game a week, while everyone else was juggling a much more hectic fixture list and being competitive on multiple fronts. (2) When we got to the business end of the season, as in when we got to the point where there was actual pressure, his team folded like a cheap deck of cards. Yes, they sat at the top of the table for a long time, but I say that’s a result of (1). When it mattered, they were nowhere to be found. Finished the season empty handed, and to some degree demoralised.

i can’t count Pep in anything because I think he and his club are just abject cheats.

So that leaves me with:

(1) De Zerbi. Took over a Brighton team that had lost their manager and most thought were over achieving, was written off by pundits before he even started, and not only made them better, but made them way more entertaining.

(2) Frank. Really cemented Brentford’s place in the top half of the table.

(3) Marco Silva. Done wonders at Fulham with some smart signings and a really limited squad.

(4) Howe. Made Newcastle very hard to beat and to get CL football at the first time of asking is exceptional.

(5) Ten Hag. Got the club their first trophy in 5 years. CL football, another final. Brought back the belief, and has transformed certain players. Has a clear vision and leadership. Would be higher up this list if it wasn’t for some shocking thrashings.

(6) Emery. Endured a difficult start but has really turned Villa into a consistent side who are now in Europe.

(7) Hodgson. Palace were in free fall before he arrived.
