Ten Hag obviously doesn’t want tempo setters, he seems to want pressing and hard working machines in midfield.
To me it’s obvious we should be looking more towards prime Liverpool as to how Ten Hag wants us to play than any sort of City knockoff.
Possibly so but I think from a defensive perspective Gini and Henderson are vastly better than Mount and Bruno. I know there's not a carbon copy template and this could work in some scenario but I'm not convinced the balance is right. If we're going for a more defensive/hard working midfield I think Caicedo or Rice would make us a lot more robust in midfield.

Yeah? Tell me who that player is apart from Frenkie de Jong.
Am I a scout for the club? No, this clubs inability to find suitable alternatives is why our squad is a disjointed mess and Mount is just going to add to our midfield players who crumble under any sort of pressure when we come up against more technical sides.

Looks like it is done. Not sure about this, feels a bit of a Donny signing. Also if we are paying over 30 million we have been robbed.

Annoying that City are after Kovacic. I think he’s the one Chelsea midfielder I would want!
Get that but he has not been great this season, is 29, a bit injury prone and price is apparently £40m. If it’s to replace Gundogan then I’d say it’s a downgrade but they have to act as Kalvin Phillips is a dud.

Got to make us an increasingly attractive prospect for Kane too you'd imagine. They have linked up well for England.

I'm not convinced by this lad. Just been browsing the Shed End forums and they reckon it's good business to offload him. The mood there seems to be that he's solid but not spectacular.

Haven't seem him play enough to make a judgement, apart from when he's turned out for England, he's been...alright, but unremarkable. I guess we'll see.

Don't the majority of Chelsea fans complain that he's too slow, or at least not quick enough for any pace not to be counteracted by his (relative) lack of strength. It's not quite a Mata situation, I guess, but then again Mata looked a much more creative passer. Mount just seems so midrange at best
Mount is not slow at all, much faster than Mata ever was. He is not an 8 either, doesn't have the defensive awareness and positioning of a natural central midfielder. He is an attacker who plays behind the striker or off of either wing, and his defensive abilities come from pressing from the front.

ten Hag obviously has a plan for him as he loved Mount when he was at Vitesse.

I will be so disappointed if we don’t get him now. Excellent signing and exactly what we need.

If you're not a scout, why do you say he's going to crumble under any pressure? Do you know better than our scouts? Or Ten Hag?

Maybe you should wait and see how he performs before whining over signing him. He may turn out to be a fantastic signing. He is already a CL winner and POTY twice.

There's a lack of midfielders of the kind you're looking for these days, and nearly all of them are unavailable. You could say any random exciting youngster from another league, but chances of them actually improving us are not massive.

I think he will surprise a lot of people here with what ETH does with him. He's a system player that ETH has had eyes on since he was on loan at Vitesse, I think he will be a revelation for us personally

Not that excited about this (I’m not a football expert though). And it’ll probably be for a big fee.. And don’t think Chelsea would be selling him to a rival if he was that good.

Up to £60m? Really? Depressing way to start our summer business with a player who has massively underwhelmed this season.

£80m gets you caicedo, there’s Kone and Thurman on the market too. Anything over £40m and we’re having our pants pulled down.

Not seen a breakdown of these stats but would be interested to know how many come from set pieces
Checking on WhoScored, 13 goals total, with 12 goals from open play + 1 penalty.

On his assists breakdown:

Closest thing to a Kante regen. Caicedo will be world class, if he isn’t already.
I’d rather see us go all in and fix the midfield and GK positions this summer. Patch up the forward position and RB with some unknowns and then sign Kane and a world class CB/RB next summer

While Kone is an exciting prospect, what has he ever done in his career and what guarantees do we have that he will improve us?

What the hell are these numbers! Didn't we try to sign FdJ for 80M just last season? Or am I dreaming?

40M tops and anything over that we're getting fleeced. The McT transfer should pay for this one.

I would suspect he’s a shiny new name prospect and that he’s not english.

I'm not against mount and in all honestly think he'd be quite a useful signing but the talk of 55+ million pounds seems mental when he has a year left on his contract

Would be an upgrade on Eriksen and Dvb. Think he will be a good squad option and shouldn't cost much either.

There’s no guarantee anyone will improve us, look at Sancho, Maguire, Pogba, Schweinstiger etc
That's my point. People are crying over Mason Mount and how disappointed they are, only to then suggest 21 year old player from any league because he has an exotic name.
