Also, DDG wasn't on the verge of leaving last summer. Funny how people are what they want to see.
Yeah but even if De Gea were leaving last summer, Onana wouldn't have been an option. To add more context, he actually agreed to join Inter when Ole was still our manager which seems like ages ago now.

I think it was when Ralf was the manager. Ole was sacked in November.

Unless we buy a top striker and a top midfield partner for him, bringing Onana will do feck all for Casemiro.
It will the very least stop him from having to play heroball after clearances from De Gea goes straight to the closest opponent.

Why on earth are we doing face to face meetings with agents?

We're literally sponsored by a company designed to rid the need for such things.
I still feel, myself included, that face to face is better...

Plus, might be a few people involved, might be awkward with 10+ people crowded round a 24" monitor.

We like to impress them by inviting them to our state of the art stadium.

Meh

Costa will be a much better player than this drug cheat.

No thanks

Just having a goalkeeper half decent (let alone very good like Onana seems to be) on the ball will be such a drastic improvement on our buildup. Such a vital signing this will turn out to be.

Can’t get my head around this “oh we need to wait and see what happens with De Gea, and if he goes we might get Onana”. Just withdraw the De Gea offer and get whichever keeper you want in. Onana/Costa are both good options, but are completely different to De Gea.

Remember him from his Ajax days, and wasn't really a big fan. His style of play would raise my blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Guarantee it would be a mistake. There’d be 1 goal the Caf wanks itself over where he played a decent pass but all the late draws we’d concede without Dave bailing us out wouldn’t be worth it. Combine that with all the Barthez WTF moments. The Caf just want a shiny new toy unfortunately.

Yeah, our build up play should remain shite forever because David might decide to make a save. Or he might decide to pull a West Ham (away) or Everton (Home, FA Cup), or City (Cup final) or Chelsea (FA Cup semi)x2, or ....

If Dave isn't kicking the ball to the opposition every time he touches the ball or not coming out for the ball, maybe this wouldn't be needed in the first place.

Fantastic keeper. Very good shot stopper as well, less flashy then De Gea but his positioning is really good.

I've been a massive fan of De Gea, he's completely bailed us out in his prime, but this is how we move forward. The Tifo video in the thread nails it really.

I will say though, people will begin to reminisce about prime De Gea's handling and ability to push the ball away from danger. Onana doesn't thrive there.

The whole point of getting rid of De Gea is so we can play better football and not have to be holding on for 1 nil wins.
