Yeah because obviously the only problem with these posts is that they aren't wanking Mount off.

Moan, moan, moan. And the time between the first and last ones I've quoted aren't even enough time to play a game of football.

Criticism is fine, hence why I haven't picked up on any of your comments. But the ones where folk are just looking for something to bitch about like always? feck me, mate. It's bloody tragic.
Take it up with a therapist.

There's no way to answer this definitively as he hasn't had an extended run in a functional side as an 8. But he absolutely views himself as an 8, and I also think it's telling that when Chelsea were at our best under Tuchel, he was regularly dropping deeper into midfield. I don't remember who we were playing exactly, but Tuchel tried an experiment at one point where Mount stayed higher and Pulisic was the one dropping deeper and our attack was completely dysfunctional - as a linker between midfield and attack, Mount is elite no matter where he is lining up on the teamsheet.

People keep pointing to the CL run as evidence that Mount played higher at his best, but out of possession he was routinely dropping deeper next to Jorginho whilst Kante pressed higher (the best example of this is the CL semi in 20/21 vs Real Madrid; Tuchel had Kante pressing Kroos high to slow Madrid's buildup with Mount making up the numbers in midfield. Personally I have very little doubt that he'll take to the role Eriksen was playing last year like a duck to water and be a colossal upgrade. I'm still gutted we're losing him and I think he'll genuinely be excellent for you.
Thanks for the really detailed reply, you've made me excited to see him play! Got tickets to the second home game of the season so I am excited now. :D

Stop your whinging. You have a cheek calling anyone a moan. I don't think it's unreasonable to question £250-£300k a week wages for Mason Mount when we are supposed to be getting our wage structure under control after years of mismanagement.
There’s this annoying habit on here whenever anyone questions or criticizes some club decision the “all positive brigade” come with their pitchforks.

As you said, 55m pounds and 250k a week for Mount is crazy money and peak Woodward dealing.

The bolded bit is my main concern with this transfer. I like Mount and think he's a much better player than many here are giving him credit for - but I can't help but worry that we're ultimately going to try to pigeonhole him into a role he's not a natural fit for, as we've done with many signings in the past.
Supposedly #8 in the position he prefers and wants to play going forward. He's always had more established players ahead of him at Chelsea in that position.

Time will tell, but I think all those panicking about our midfield being overrun are being incredibly naïve. If it was really that obvious that was going to happen, then I'm sure EtH has already thought about that before making this signing.

I think it's a good signing and it'll be interesting to see how ten Hag constructs the build up phase. Because the stronger the build up phase is from deeper the better Mount will perform. So the progression from the back will be key and Onana's ability to take advantage of being the free man in the first phase has huge potential. But I do expect another midfielder to be bought, whether that is Lavia or another player who is comfortable in the build up against the press.

So at this moment in time a picture is being drawn but we have to wait until the end of the window to see the result.
Ten Hag sees something in Mount and i think He will give balance to the midfield and great press. Will be exciting to see him play with Bruno and Casemiro.

Hope you don't take offense if I say that I hope he does brilliantly in an ultimately disappointing high-scoring draw!

But in all seriousness, don't begrudge Mount for making this move and pushing for it. He's by all accounts a stand-up character and I really think he'll be excellent for you.

 no offence at all!

That's big of you, if it was say Rashford doing the opposite I couldn't be that big.

Ashwood City FC.
Excellent addition to the team (pending ), offers a hell of a lot more than people give him credit for.

Similarly to Rashford, Mount will be love by section of the fans and has likely already been written off by a section of the fan.

I think the opportunity to play as a more flexible modern 8 is a big reason Mount wanted the move. Poch got a lot out of the players he had at the position at Spurs but they were traditional 8s iirc.
Poch's best Spurs team was really 4-2-3-1 for the most part - with both fullbacks bombing on, Dier dropping back into defense as needed, and Vertonghen / Alderweireld splitting wide as at their peak they were both excellent 1v1 defenders and comfortable in wide areas. Poch by all accounts badly wanted to keep Mount - but the reality is he'd be a slightly awkward fit with Nkunku in the first team as both are at their best when dropping deeper. I don't think you're wrong though that Mount wants to establish himself as an 8 going forward - both for club and country. Genuinely feel like he's suffered at times from being almost too tactically flexible which allows managers to move him willy nilly.

No, he played in a slow style with patient build up under Tuchel,
I just can’t see where you got Mount = counter attack relying on moments when the opposite would be true.
Do you think Mount will bring us on pair with the midfields of City and Arsenal? How do you think he will enable us to play against those 2 teams except counter attacking?

I see it the other way. Pressing high and condensing the space would help Casemiro a lot more than having Eriksen fading beside him after 60 minutes every week.
Surely having a player who covers and works harder than Eriksen can’t be worse on Casemiro
We’ll have to get peak Liverpool-good at the press and not have it breached every 4Seconds for that to be the case. Our collective pressing tends to be dire, so it’ll have to sky rocket, or pure old Case is fecked.

Guessing you lot would properly value Rashford and not feck him over by doing a Mount / De Gea contract withdrawal!

Personally I have a lot of sympathy for Mount given the extent to which he's outperformed expensive imports on higher wages, only to have the club backstab him by withdrawing a contract for what had more or less been established as the rate for the team's best players. He's been a 100% model professional during his entire time and given that I completely understand why he wants to leave, I bear him no ill will. We'll always have Porto 20/21!

We do the same with non-English players. In fact, even more so.
No we don't, more often than not we pay only established non-English players that kind of money. Imagine a world we're both Sancho and Rashford are paid more than Bruno and Mason Mount just as much as him with potential to be paid more. It is a ridiculous wage. I can understand paying Harry Kane a high wage but Mount? Really?

Mount at Vitesse

Some good freekick deliveries as well. We need a striker asap.

Will be strange to see him a United shirt, always came across as one of Chelsea's own...

Would be similar feeling to seeing Rashford in a Chelsea shirt. Feels wrong. But I'm excited to see how he plays in EtH's system.

So glad our summer transfer saga didn't descend into Frenkie vs. Jason. What a nightmare that would've been.

Are you saying you wouldn't like "MOUNT" on the back of your shirt??!
