Dont think he is what we need certainly not a progressive style that we want to play so probably should go or second keeper would have been fine, but i do feel bad for him the way this has been handled it looks like yet another crap show from us surely if you arent gonna offer him new terms or in the case he will reject them you already have a replacement ready. Lets hope a new world class keeper is 100 percent coming in. I loved Da Gea but the cock ups against sevilla and west ham where my final straw.

One of my favourite examples of peak De Gea was that game against Arsenal where he made a ridiculous number of saves. We should have been battered that day and we would have been with just about any other keeper in goal.
There was a game against Liverpool during LvG era where we should have lost but he was unbeatable that day.

As much as I dont want De Gea to be given a new contract this is just classless. Just decide weather he stays or not, it's beyond ridiculous at this point.
He literally has a contract offer. It's up to him whether he wants to not take it up.

The agenda people have against him is really bordering on ridiculous levels right now

This is really poor handling from the club. Zero clarity on De Gea.

We are really terribly run. What a tragedy of a transfer team we have.

Really poorly handled a long standing player who has generally done excellent for us. He never even got a good bye

I will be surprised if Saudi's don't come after him
Yes, it is too bad of PR for this. It will be different when the fans and him knew that that is the final match for United after a long time service.

Actually that is just pure speculation on your part. His not signing a pre contract does not mean nobody has approached him or his representatives, it just means he has been communicating his intention to stay at United which would tie in with all of his public comments up until the end of the season. I would imagine if he does make it known he is not extending he will be signed up pretty quickly.
Well he’s now out of contract, has been told all we will offer him is the #2 position on massively reduced wages, and yet he hasn’t signed for anyone else. Hardly screams of a player in high demand.

 Someone posts a video of him making mistakes:

“You have an agenda against him!”

Mate, it’s literally what happened. He has made consistent howlers whenever the pressure has been on the team to get results. That’s not an agenda, that’s just how it’s been for years now.

You can say he’s been treated unfairly and that he deserves a send off or whatever but saying people have an agenda against him because they highlight his mistakes and how they’ve cost us is like saying you’ve got an agenda against Boris for saying he’s a self serving corrupt Tory prick.

That’s clearly not true
It’s absolutely true. The club have allowed our no.1 keepers contract to expire (and pissed him and his mates off in the process), our 2nd choice is being sold (or stopped from leaving hurting our spending power and causing more upset in the squad), our loan keeper has been moved on to a new permanent club and our third choice has been stopped from leaving for 1st team football because we don’t know if we’ve got a keeper next season and whether our budget will stretch to buy one, changing our priorities and harming our chances of actually signing a decent striker and not a past it has been stop gap.

Its pathetic and an absolute shambles. I don’t know if the buck stops with Erik, Murtough or higher up but somebody should be held accountable. Next season should be building on last, possibly pushing for the top spot but it’ll be another scrap for top 4 and out of the CL in the groups.

I really hope Richard Arnold texted him yesterday and said “fax machine’s fixed”.

If anyone of our recent players deserves a better send off than this it's DDG. I'm glad to see him leave but shocked at how messy this appears to be.

Even for us it's a bit shambolic ey.

You're read a lot into a couple of lines tweet there.

The reality is we need to reinforce multiple positions so we have to be fluid with our targets as they come available. Striker might be the highest priority but if the best possible keeper for our system comes available then that has to be the priority right now before we miss out and end up with someone who doesn't fit instead.

We don't know what will happen between now and the end of the window, maybe we get new owners, maybe we sell a bunch of players and just offer Tottenham whatever they want for Kane, he isn't going anywhere right now.

The fact of the matter is, we need a new GK more than we need a new ST if we're going to drastically change the way we play so De Gea and the others leaving is important. Most of our football last year wasn't Ten Hag ball and for the most part it was pretty shit, mainly because build up from the back was very poor and we couldn't hold onto the ball.

We will sign a new keeper this window, guaranteed. All these news tweets are Inter trying to look like they're being tough in negotiations but Onana will leave for €40m+ add ons in the end. I honestly wouldn't send yourself into a negativity spiral by constantly reading the most negative news available (from one person's perspective) and then totally believing is as the source of truth.

For all those slating the club; he's a free agent and it seems they can't agree on a contract. He is worth nowhere near what he allegedly wants, so I'm more than happy for the club not to agree anything with him.

For all those commenting on the golden gloves, look at some of the games later in the season where he puts us under constant pressure with his diabolical distribution and refusal to come off his line. For every "wonder" save, there is at least one mistake that more often than not costs us a game. He should be considered the same, if not worse, than Harry Maguire when it comes to game costing mistakes.

We don't know what has happened behind closed doors, but it seems all the blame is being placed on the club here. De Gea has done literally nothing to develop his game and still wants the highest wage in the world for a keeper. If the club have stuck to their guns and been in constant contact with him then they really cannot do much more.

We have plenty of time to bring a new keeper in. There is no way we should be giving De Gea what he wants as a contingency. We have other priorities.

Reason why is because United over the last decade have struggled to comprehend departures and knowing when the right time to release a player is. This is why Phil Jones has stayed as long as he did. The last 3 seasons have given indication that De Gea though being a competent goalkeeper is no longer one of the best in his position and that decision should have been made from the hierarchy the moment he couldn't rediscover his previous level. This isn't the only factor but also how the modern game has developed the need for the keeper be very proactive with their feet and ball distribution. Instead the uncertainty over what to do has led to this mishandling event. These are all the effects of poor ownership and even worse structure to those under the owners.

The club are getting shit because someone from Dave's side is leaking how he feels about it all, and a lot of our fans love an excuse to give the club shit from every angle possible. The words 'inept' and 'clueless' seem to go hand in hand when it comes to United from our own fans.

Myself and others have been saying it for seasons, for every great save De Gea makes, 10 seconds before that he kicked it long straight to the opposition who broke and shot off the back of it, but you forget the mistake because of the save.

It's time for him to go, it could have been handled with more grace but I'm sure no one is going to lose sleep over it once it's done and dusted. We've had actual club legends not given a proper send off or treated worse when they left also.

Fantastic keeper at his peak, but probably the right time to leave. Hope he finds himself a good club.

We are terrible at this stuff, he's been a great servant for the club and was unfortunately around during a time we were a complete basket case across several weird managers.

Yet there's top tier stories stating we are in talks with Onana to be our next keeper....

Shambles indeed.

De Gea has played 545 games for us, starting when he was a raw kid. Of course you're going to be able to pull together a long compilation of mistakes. Let the likes of Ederson and Alisson play the same amount of games and you'll end up with exactly the same sort of compilation. It doesn't tell you anything about anything, it's just a way to have a go at De Gea.

Especially when those sort of mistakes aren't the reason De Gea needs to be replaced. The problem is what he contributes the 99.99% of the time he isn't making either a save or an outright mistake.

And he was paid handsomely to stay for that reason, let’s not pretend he’s been doing charity work here when he could have gone elsewhere. The problem for him was that no other big club has ever wanted him since his high profile Spain errors.

Some of it is overboard.

But, in fairness, if you watch through that video there's so many balls hit into the 6 yard box that end up as goals where he does that thing where he steps out and then drops back to his line. Leaving the opposition a free header or shot from balls he could and probably should be claiming.

I do think the fact he seemed to save his worst games and mistakes for the biggest games are a major reason we should let him go. Just this last season alone, awful in Seville and then awful in the FA Cup semi and Final are examples of that.

But yeah of course, all keepers make mistakes. The biggest problem with De Gea isn't the mistakes that you see in these compilations on twitter, it's the fact he can't pass the ball out and he refuses to ever come off his line for anything.

He's the complete opposite of what ETH wants in a keeper. No top team has a keeper that hoofs the ball.

He's been a terrific servant to the club. If he goes it's as one of the bright spots of the last decade. Shane about the contract mess but you just get on with it. Reflects the poor management nothing else
