The last 2 were pretty meh, save for the guy playing the demon being fun. If he’s trying to sidle into horror I guess he’s run out of ideas, but really you’d be much better off watching Inside No9 if you want that

I quite liked Ep5, mostly because of the demon, but the lead in that episode was good too. Her transformation was kind of Walter White-like, but much faster obvs. The leather jacket being her symbolic Heisenberg pork pie hat. And she smashed a Tory in with a hammer, pretty cool.

People are speculating a spin-off "Red Mirror" series as that's what the final ep was introduced as in the opening credits.

I enjoyed ep 5, but yeah, overall I'm finding the supernatural element a bit odd.

It makes sense as he made his bones with Dead Set (after Barley, of course) and clearly wants to do other things than just write 4 feature length Black Mirrors every 4 years, but again, the wry British comedy horror anthology with a twist market is pretty much owned by Shearsmith & Pemberton, who can happily knock out 6 much more digestible - and often much better written things every other year.

He should probably just do a film or something. Or another series of some sort, but I guess the BM brand gravy train gives him the freedom to do whatever he wants, so why not? I just don’t think it’s gonna revitalise it at all. The last couple of this series were fine, but pretty forgettable.

I’ll still watch whatever he does

Episode 3... I'm not sure, definitely don't get the love, nor the hate, it was ... fine? I liked the premise but it wasn't executed very well and the ending was a bit naff, really. Aaron Paul was great, though. And as was noted before, sending them up into space and leaving the androids behind without another way to clone those androids, for six years, was fecking dumb

I liked Joan Is Awful. Not all that thought-provoking but undeniably entertaining.

Loch Henry... Jesus Christ. Bravo, very fecking disturbing. The VCR scene where she walks through the door with a drill is going to haunt my nightmares for months. I can see why some people found it predictable, with hindsight. I of course am not so thick that I didn't guess something of significance would be on those tapes but I didn't know what to expect. Pia's death and the build up to it was a little sloppy and felt unnecessary. I guess it added a bit of suspense in so much as making us think Janet could still get away with it

Beyond the Sea I thought was masterful.

Episodes 4 & 5 are both way below par. The Boney M Demon character is just annoying. Having him speak like a normal working class bloke could potentially have been funny. Instead it felt contrived and overstated
I found her death rather obvious the minute she started wandering off the side of the road given what they'd said earlier in the episode about how a lot of people are presumed to be dead given the treacherous (but beautiful) nature etc. So her hitting her head on a rock in the river was a bit predictable for me.

Just finished it.

Episode 1 was ok but a bit silly. Kind of reminded me of Nosedive. I did enjoy it I guess.

Episode 2 was decent but predictable. But it is at least a bit more memorable.

Episode 3 had plot holes galore but decent. Great acting, nice to see Josh Harnett back and Jesse was immense. The woman playing Jesse's wife looked ill though. Thought the ending made no reasonable sense.

Episode 4 was silly fun but fecking stupid.

Episode 5 was awful and no idea how this is related to tech. Understand the Red Mirror thing but this season is Black Mirror. The Demon was annoying.

Better than the last couple of seasons but was a bit meh overall.

Just finished season 6. Overall it was better than season 5, but still far from peak Black Mirror.

Episode 2 and 3 are the only good episodes for me. Episode 3 has the better premise and acting but I didn't like the ending. Episode 2 has the better execution so it takes the top spot for me.

Episode 1 was very Black Mirror but also quite silly. And not in a good way like USS Callister.

Episode 4 and 5 are shit and may mark a new trend? Unlike practically every Black Mirror up until this point they have almost no scifi elements nor does technology play a significant part. Are they dipping their toe in the fantasy pool because they have run out of ideas or are they simply branching out?

4 and 5 is basically Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. It’s not black mirror.

I think they want to start a spin-off called Red Mirror, which focuses more on horror. Episode 6 was the tester episode for that.

I wouldn't mind that, but if the last two episodes are indicative of the quality we can expect then I'd rather they didn't.

I think that the season would have been much better received if the last two episodes got scrapped. It would have been better than season 5 and comparable to season 4 then.

Enjoyed 1 & 2.

3 was good but could see everything coming a mile off and the ending was dumb.

We just watched 4. What the feck  how you gonna just chuck a Werewolf plot into a BM episode. Basic.

Just finished the season last night. Looks like I may be in a minority of one in this thread but I loved Demon 79. Perfect blend of horror and comedy and nailed its sense of place and time. Excellent performances from both leads and the demon was such a great character.

What did you make of it as a horror aficionado?

Good to see someone else liked it. The whole Tory being the true demon scene was a bit on the nose but worked very well.

I didn't really love it, mainly because I'm not really a fan of horror comedy films. They usually aren't scary or funny enough to work as either. Certain exceptions to the rule though, like Shaun of the Dead or One Cut of the Dead.

Evil Dead as well, right?

I’ve always enjoyed horror comedy because I’m too much of a pussy for full on horror but am quite intrigued by it, so adding a dash of comedy helps me get through the movie without feeling too queasy!

Yeah Evil Dead is one of my favs.

Try One Cut of the Dead. If you do, look past the first 20 or so minutes and it's amazing. The first 20 minutes are bad by design.

Ok, cool. Thanks for the recommendation. Will check it out.

Just remembered some more classic horror comedy’s. Peter Jackson’s first few movies. They were fecking bonkers!

Still have the final episode to watch but so far I thought ep 1 was an interesting concept but it all became a bit ridiculous that I don't think I really enjoyed it. I probably enjoyed ep2 the most though it wasn't very innovative. I thought ep3 probably had the most potential as an idea but thought the story line was a little too predictable in the which made it a tad boring. I enjoyed watching ep4 even if it was a ridiculous story.

Not terrible but a bit meh so far, certainly prefer some of the older episodes.

Been going through the entire series since watching S6. I've just got S5 to go, which I remember not being great.

White Bear and Shut Up and Dance are rough, even when I knew what was coming. Brutal twists. I think SS Callister is my favourite though. I don't think I've ever seen Jesse Plemons in anything where he wasn't an absolute shit. He's good at it.

I can't decide if Metalhead is brilliant or terrible, but on 2nd viewing, I found myself laughing at it lot more, particularly when the robodog drives the van, and then gets out by punting the door off it's hinges. And again when its armed with a knife, then it gets paint thrown over it's head and starts stabbing the wall.

I remember there being more duds the first time I watched, but I think the only episode I really didn't like and wouldn't bother watching again is the Waldo one.

Please tell me it gets better after Joan is Awful.

I'm 20 minutes into the episode and it is f*cking moronic the way the people are reacting in the episode. I can't continue watching it because it's just annoying me.

Man I loved Black Mirror but it went on a complete nosedive from season 4.

I had hope it would improve. I watched a few episodes of season 4 and stopped, then saw one episode of 5 and stopped. Probably doing the same for season 6.

Honestly does it get any better? The episodes usually aren't related so don't need to watch one after the other, episode 1 of season 1 was meh as well but the other two episodes were much better.

Werewolf episode was shit and pointless. The other ones were ok but not great. Seemed to lose some of what Black Mirror is about. Still entertaining as it has its weird quirky light heartedness mixed with the bleak dark stuff.

Season 4 was the last time I gave Black Mirror any kind of real attention. Decided to jump back in for S6 and i was quite surprised with the shift in the focus/tone of the show. I don't think anything came across as specifically bad about it, but this is certainly not the same show/tone/direction of seasons 1-3. I think the episodes overall were all pretty well done and if anything, some of the references to the dystopian-tech future actually felt really forced. Specifically in the last episode when one of the "visions" we are shown did a call back to previous series "lore", that felt very...."remember we are still that scifi-dystopia show".

Like some have said in here, if the "Red Mirror" is a hint of the direction that Brooker and co want to go then I'll probably stop watching the show as I was such a fan of S1-3, but i hope those enjoying the shift in focus get another season. :)

Finally seen EPs 1-3
2 was probably my fav. 3 I thought Aaron Paul was great. But the story was easy to predict and what would happen. And can't remember the last time I saw hartnett ,so good for him.
1 was mixed but enjoyed the concept

Ep4 was strange.didnt feel like a black mirror episode at all
It started well then just got hilarious towards the end. Felt like a Simpsons Halloween episode

Making a comeback. He's in Oppenheimer.
Good for him , I liked the faculty (and now realising that movie was about 25 years ago)

Just finished watching the recent series. Overall not bad. Better than the last season but nowhere near as good as the earlier opening two. Open to another season of a few new episodes but don’t know if we are gonna get them. My thoughts on each episode:

Joan Is Awful

Decent concept which started off well but poorly finished. Felt like they ran out of ideas towards the end. The part when Joan destroys that computer machine in the control centre just looked so unrealistic as the security guards would have managed to get themselves inside that console to prevent it from being destroyed rather than just staring and watching her.

Loch Henry

Really enjoyed this one. Didn’t see that cliffhanger coming when it was discovered by Davis’ girlfriend Pia that his parents were in on the torturous murders taking place behind the scenes. My favourite one out of the five.

Beyond The Sea

Another one that I was fully engrossed in. Had a feeling that when Cliff goes out of the spaceship to check on that false alarm that David was going to use the tag to kill Cliff’s family. Or destroy the tag completely. Overall a good episode.

Mazey Day

This one was the weirdest. I don’t know where that werewolf reference came from or how Mazey was infected with it. My least favourite one.

Demon 79

Decent after quite a slow start but I suppose it’s just to build the plot up. Certainly engrossing enough. I personally thought the whole atomic bomb threat was just the demon playing with Nida rather than it actually happening in the end there, just so she could carry out the killing of 3 random people.

Id agree with these two. The Mazey day one just felt so random. I really thought it would be an episode about the effects of the Pap on celebrities and (I have a feeling weve seen that before, was it the Miley one)
Anyway it just felt like something was thrown in randomly to get to a conclusion. I actually laughed out when it happened. Im guessing thats where
the man that was run over comes in (it was a werewolf and it infected her.
It just felt like that episode of the simpsons where I think it was where it happened to Ned Flanders
