They’ve signed 3 players and 2 arguably don’t even improve their first XI. Also forest better not go for Turner instead of Henderson ffs.
Timber will bench White in no time.

The interest in Raya really surprises me. He is solid, but not better than Ramsdale and too expensive for a second choice goalkeeper.

I said this to my brother the other day that Arsenal might go for Diogo Costa next season depending on how he develops and Ramsdale is one of their weak points. Didn't think they'd already think about signing one this season.

Surely Raya will want to be first choice/ atleast compete to be first choice at Arsenal? Bayern is a different story altogether as there's no chance he'll displace Neuer.

Ramsdale isn’t quite good enough to be untouchable. If given a chance, Raya could take the gloves off Ramsdale.

Would be a good signing for them. Ramsdale is the most error prone goalkeeper in the league.

Surprised a bit but I don't rate Ramsdale at all, expect Raya to be number 1 a month or 2 after the season's start.

Are Arsenal really going to drop circa £40m on a sub goalie - I mean by all means but don’t see it myself…

they did try to sign him a couple of years ago though so Arteta obviously likes him.

I think he's better than Ramsdale so won't be surprised if he ends up as their number one if he does indeed sign for Arsenal.

Don't think you will get 40m for him. Only one year left on his contract and you have already replaced him. Doesn't make sense for you to keep him under those circumstances, so I would expect you to sell him for less rather than keep him around and get nothing next summer.

Have Arsenal sold anyone? Spending big money this window if this goes through.

I don't think he's much of an upgrade on Ramsdale. Similar level. Pointless signing for them.

I think they're struggling in how to make the step up, we'll see how timber and havertz help their depth which needed addressing but we'll see if they can even maintain the level they had last season. I'm expecting they drop away from title challenge level into just part of the top 4/5 group level.

Last yr on contract. Already replaced. Cant see this going above 30m. Ideally 20m-25m.
Raya was out first choice before Ramsdale. But still he is not much better and 3-4yrs older so at first glace did not make sense. But this would be dependent on Turner going for good money 15m+ and Raya is homegrown which could be huge aswell as there is good chance all 3 Holding/Nketieh/Balogun gets sold this year. So for 10m-15m delta getting him would be good.

Ramsdale new contract that he signed was just 3+1yr which kind of was a hint that things could change there

My guess is that the Turner to Forest option has became a possibility, Turner probably would like to leave for first team football and to preserve his National Team place, so we're exploring replacements.

We know Raya, we wanted him a couple of years ago, he has a year left on his contract, he's homegrown so becomes a good option, and is suited to the way we like to play out from the back.

I'll be surprised if we go £40M, but if we can get him for net of £10m - £15m of Turner leaving it could be seen as worth it all round.

Edit: I swear I was typing out before seeing @CannonBalls post! :D

As I’ve already explained in this thread before £40m is the package we are looking for. Internally this is seen as a marker to be laid down in terms of not being soft touches in the transfer market. We don’t need the money, we already have our new number one in the door for next season. Balls in Raya’s agents and other club’s court to get it done. No way you get this done for £20-£25m unless that’s the initial fee with very achievable add-ons that take it up to approaching the £40m mark.

How much do you expect Turner to go for?

Arsenal blowing 30-40m on Raya when they've got Ramsdale would be really bizarre.

Lets see what happens.
Having a firm posture at the start of the window is good but if no one is biting then things could change.
Don't expect this to go 30m+ all in.

Replacing Ramsdale with Raya would surely make Arsenal favorites for the title.

Not sure to be honest, they are talking about loan to obligation so for the obligation I'd be thinking something in the region of £15m, but I might be over estimating that.

Id be looking at Raya for £25m - £30m maybe with some add ons to take it up a bit?

Ramsdale isn’t good, it’s like saying we shouldn’t be in for Onana when we have Heaton and Henderson.
I don't watch Arsenal enough to have a particularly strongly held opinion on Ramsdale but I wasn't under the impression that he's shit, and I definitely don't feel like the gulf in class between Ramsdale and Raya is equivalent to Onana and Henderson/Heaton. In my head it's something like; Onana - elite. Raya - good. Ramsdale - decent to good. Henderson - decent. Heaton - irrelevant.

Surely they cant keep Ramsdale if they sign Raya, that'd be as stupid as giving Henderson £120k 5 year deal when we have De Gea on £375k a week megadeal.
