Good riddance.

He's delusional. Simply not good enough and should never have been captain.

Personally, I think a fresh start would do him wonders. He'll be very good for West Ham, and offer Moyes the tactical flexibility to switch between a back four to back three. Watch West Ham defense to actually improve this season

I always said Paqueta would've been a good player for us, but holy feck that's a load of money for him. Hopefully they come back for McTominay too. 'Losing' Maguire AND McFred in one window? Makes me more excited than the signings we've done, and I love those too.

Not believing this until it's signed, sealed and delivered. We will never be rid of him.

Well, West Ham haven’t spoken to him yet I don’t think. He still has to accept the move
He is 100% accepting this move, imo. His United career is over. If he hasn't already come to terms with that, he will do now that this bid has been accepted.

If he was delusional, he'd have stayed at United for what is likely to be a higher salary than West Ham will pay.
He believed he was going to "fight his way" back into the starting eleven. All this despite a left back being ahead of him in the pecking order.

It's obvious Ten Hag has had to clear things up for him.

Fair opinion, maybe, but obviously stupid and negative, yep.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's stupid and negative

Anyway, hope it gets done. Would be best for all involved.

It’s not like FM where clubs agree a fee first then personal terms (at least based on when I last played FM back in 2010). It’s more like vice versa.

I don’t know what constitutes ‘tapping up’ these days but that seems to be what they all do seemingly, if players are getting spoken too first before the parent club does.

Yeah, to a popular tourist destination (Santorini) where everyone in Europe knows who he is, and then was just rocking up to restaurants and bars full of drunk brits and Greeks like no one would recognise him.
Footballers go to Greek islands all the time, let alone with their partner and family. Such a bizarre criticism.

They would get recognised literally everywhere in Europe. Are you seriously suggesting they can’t go and have a meal with their family on holiday?

I'm suggesting that when you're a very famous footballer, you shouldn't go to a very popular tourist destination and hang out with the rest of the drunks. There's nothing wrong with going to Greece but if you're that famous you should pay to go to the places where the drunks aren't, otherwise you're going to end up getting yourself into trouble.

So West Ham will have Maguire as CB and McTominay plus Edson Alvarez from Ajax in midfield? Feck me. I would need bleach for my eyes after every match.

To make only a £50m loss on him is better than I thought. What does it look like in amortization terms?

They need both of them, especially if they're losing Paqueta.
I've been told Paqueta is sellable but it'd need to be an extraordinary bid. My guess is probably Rice levels given he has a very long contract still, is a decent age as well.

If he goes we will be all in for fofana, liked by both DM and TS but currently a little too costly still.

I think Moyes will promise him the captains armband, bit it never sits well with me doing that, the squad may not be too pleased when an outsider just gets top billing in terms of captain s right away

It's going to be very solid, set piece based football and probably highly ugly, but probably effective as well.

Our big problem is goals though imo.

I believe you, it's just that for an Ajaxsupporter that is the stuff of nightmares.

Hope he's able to resurrect his career at West Ham. Decent guy, and always treated behaved gracefully in the face of extreme criticism. Sadly not cut out for the level / style of football United want to be at.

I'm willing to take a friendly wager WHUM will push for EL places this season. Maguire will be very good in their system, as will JWP. Deep line defence, lots of set piece danger, target man up front, I always said Rice got so much protection in that team from how they played and I am interested to see how he does at a much more offensive team like Arsenal. Conversely I think JWP will be excellent for them if he goes, can run a midfield, has the obvious ability from set pieces and where he lacks the marauding runs and power that Rice had he is comfortably a better passer. I actually think Alvarez - JWP - Soucek will be hell to play against for us this season.

Pfft Maguire's ball playing, linking up with an Ajax midfielder? I'm expecting total football.
