Who’s a fan boy? If he’s stood where he’s supposed to stand then I don’t see how he’s to blame for a great finish from a mistake of a pass. If he’s come out and admitted his positioning was wrong then good for him, but it’s still the fault of the player who played that excellent through ball for the striker to hit first time.The title of this one might as well be "De Gea or Onana, who is the better keeper?". Here's how to avoid it.

Because it’s not a mistake. He will make mistakes this season, but his positioning in that instance was by design rather than a mistake. I don’t recall the specific situation previously you are talking about in truth, I realise we are used to a goalkeeper who stood in the exact same spot for 90 minutes but that was frankly ridiculous rather than the norm.
The finish was near spot on, it’s one of those where 99 times out of 100 Dalot doesn’t give the ball away and probably 19 times out of 20 the shot doesn’t go in and as such it never gets discussed again.

True, it's an exceptional finish, but saying his positioning is by design is incorrect considering what happened previously in the game and his positioning mins before the goal.
It's an error, thankfully one in pre season that means little, however it's his second in a few games, he will learn from it as will the team I'm sure.
I wonder what wage he is asking for as he is still without a club. He wont even get half what he was on at Utd.

For me it was joy to watch him becoming great goalkeeper, showing mental resilience and strength after somewhat shaky start!
At his peak he was like a cheat from video games, whatever you would try he would save, literall one man defence at times! Would always feel safe with him being in goal no matter who was playing infront of him.
And then came his slow but steady decline which couldn't be masked with stunning saves anymore, or atleat not at the rate as before since he was still capable of worldies and unbeaten matches here and there.
He was more of burden than asset and it was right call by ETH and the club to let him go. He always tried hard, would never back down, and his attitute, IMO, was flawless all this time, just he lost value to the team due tl his diminished abilities.
Would like to see proper send of from Old Trafford for someone who quietly always gave his best even when that best wasn't enough anymore. Wish him luck with whatever move he makes, United legend and once great goalkeeper!

That game against arsenal is probably the greatest goalkeeping performance of all time. The double save against Sanchez the cherry on top.

To be honest I’m not surprised he has no club yet. Huge wage demands and he’s become very blunder prone regardless of picking up the golden glove last season. He’s definitely lost his way a little bit, because it wasn’t that long ago it felt like he was keeping the side in games with his heroics.

Light in the tunnel on some really dark days. I like that we've moved on to Onana, it's the beginning of a new era. But I'll always miss DDG, the nostalgia holds a special place. Good man, phenomenal shot stopper in his heyday. Don't know if we'll ever see anything as consistent again.

I'm shocked that he hasn't been able to find a club. I guess his wage demands were/are far too high?
The fact that both Bayern and Real started the season with a goalkeeper crisis and neither picked him up, even just on a short term deal, suggests he isn't getting a move to a big club. I don't think its just a question of wages either, its about his style of play and performance level.
When you go past the big Champions League clubs, the problem becomes one of value. A mid-table club at a major European league can pick up a solid enough goalkeeper for £50K a week. Even if they believe DDG is a better keeper, how much better would he need to be to justify paying 3X or more for his services?
Wages and also the limited opportunities in that position, I would imagine.
It's not like outfield positions where teams have multiple options, if he wants to play regularly each squad only has one space available for him. And once you discard the teams who wouldn't want him because he isn't good enough, the teams he probably thinks he's too good for and the teams who just have no need of a goalkeeper signing, there are only ever going to be so many options.
And if he hadn't been planning on leaving United his agents may not have been doing the groundwork to get him a club you'd normally expect in the months prior to a contract expiring.
I suppose he can afford to wait and see if an option becomes available through injury or whatever but at some point he'll probably need to compromise on wages, gametime or the status of the club to get playing again.

1)Wage demands. Last big contract of his career, so not willing to take too much of a pay cut? Or his lifestyle dicates he needs x amount to cover his outgoings etc.
2) His lack of ability to play out with his feet. Seeing as this is all the rage now. He cant contribute to outfield play as much as the top clubs demand.
3) Unwilling to compromise.Wages or signing on fee or contract length or agent fees . Who knows.
Theres no doubt he would do a cracking job for a team with a low block. Be interesting to see where he ends up.

The game passed him by in recent years, but I really wish we could’ve given him more honours after those seasons where he was just about the only positive note. He did used to be a brilliant goalkeeper, people shouldn’t forget this.
