Caicedo seems not to be the brightest fellow.
How can you reject to play for Liverpool to maybe join the chaos at Chelsea?
Or is Chelsea offering much higher wages?
There's been talk about his entourage & representation being, let's say, "difficult". As far back as when United was looking into him. There's gossip the agents might be trying to steer this Chelsea's way.
It's not unique to Caicedo but this young lad suddenly got a lot of money riding on him : For his former club that will get a share of it (probably massive for an Ecuadorian FC), his agents, himself.

It seems fairly clear that his agents are the ones pulling the strings and I am sure that over the months they have been courting him Chelsea have made commitments to them and to his club back in Ecuador. I don't know that Liverpool were invested in the same way or whether the third parties in this deal would get the same benefits from the deal if he were to move to Anfield. It is quite possible Boehly has committed to additional investment in Ecuador outside of the transfer itself, maybe additional private donations to the Moises Caicedo Academy which his former club are planning to build with their share of the transfer fee.

Wonder if that's to do with the Lavia news?

Carraghers had a bit of rollercoaster ride on social media. He went from adulation in spending huge money on a top young talent to disgust on someone else spending huge money on a top young talent

How are Chelsea buying Lavia, Olise and Caicedo? That's 195m
Chelsea got around 220m in sales (Havertz, Mount, Kovacic, Pulisic, Koulibaly, Luftus-Cheek, Mendy etc..) they will get more if they sell Lukaku, CHO, and perhaps some other fringe players like Ziyech and Sarr, they spent around 180m on new players like Nkunku, Disasi, Jackson and Sanchez, I am not sure about their FFP situation but they seem to have sold well this summer so I will not be surprised if they go for both Caicedo and Lavia.

But they also spent 300m in Jan this year so who knows really, they might be stretching themselves with regards to FFP

FFP follows the financial year so last Jan won’t come into this and if clubs overspend now they can sell in Jan to balance it out.

If Liverpool convinces Caicedo, they might end up with the better player in the end possibly... But will have paid 60m£ more for trying to barter on 5.

What an expensive feck up that was from Woodward. From £5m to £111m. Tim Vickery was calling him the best talent in South America at the time. We could've had him at a snip but we fumbled the bag.

Have you you ever been to Liverpool?
No but does it really matter? I have been to Nottingham and Manchester though.

These players have so much money that it doesn't really matter where they live.
Except you wanna say the weather in London is way better than in Liverpool.

Any Ideas as to why Liverpool offered 111 mill ?

It was seemingly known all summer that Brighton wanted 100.

Guess it was 100-ish and a few add-ons just to make sure to top whatever Chelsea was sending in as a "final bid".

Di Maria doesn't like this.
I would say not a massive deciding factor in most cases, but can be a consideration.

Well in hindsight it’s a feck up alright, but the thing is, if we signed him, he would not be on sale right now, which means the £111M amount does not exist. And had we signed him, we probably wouldn’t have signed Casemiro etc. So whatever.

Brighton must hate them both.

Last season Chelsea took their manager and star full back (both flopped, in fairness). This season Liverpool take their World Cup winner and now they're both fighting over their other star midfielder.

Every time chelsea took someone, Chelsea got worse and Brighton got better!

Brighton will win the league now and Chelsea will get relegated!

Brighton must adore them. It is unheard of to sell a manager, let alone to sell a manager for a 30m fee. Then Caicedo - he is a brilliant player, but 110m is even better than that for sure

they are being well compensated. And prior to the last two seasons, they finished 15th, 17th and 15th in the PL, having spent a Decade between league 1 and the championship. If they reinvest that money properly (and everything we know suggests that they will) then they could be considered one of the big boys before too long.

Wait until someone tries to buy Ferguson after he has an unreal season, it will £150 million minimum or dont bother contacting them.

I'm skeptical, because I don't think any club really managed to secure itself in the top strata without massive financial backing (City, PSG) and even perennial members of their respective elite league that have extended golden years don't really manage to entrench their position there... Except maybe Atletico and Borussia ? I'm not sure they count or if they're in-between, big clubs that managed to crawl back after lean years.
Even FC Sevilla is somewhat skint, isn't it ?

For sure, Brighton could secure a very stable 5-10 years out of all this revenue.

Liverpool must be raging. They've shown their hand now and will likely get rinsed for whoever their other targets are.

Chelsea buying Lavia and Caicedo is nuts.
