I’ve checked and there’s nothing about us being interested in Verratti on either L’equipe website or Twitter
I found This:

Where will PSG midfielder Marco Verratti end up at the end of the transfer window? The two Saudi clubs of Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli are still pressing to try and bring in the 30-year-old. Al-Ahli has even reached an agreement with the Italian and hopes to succeed in doing the same with the Parisian club quickly. Al-Hilal had also agreed with the midfielder but their offer of 30m euros was deemed insufficient by PSG.

At the same time, Al-Ahli, who has just recruited Merih Demiral, is also working on the track leading to Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter Milan). The club are only expected to sign one more midfielder. In Europe, several clubs, including Bayern Munich, have also shown interest in Verratti

Maybe they somehow extrapolated from the final sentence that we're among those other European clubs?

Yes that’s the article I found as well. Maybe they mentioned United on their L’equipe TV channel and someone picked up and tweeted about it.

Seems to be not much substance to this rumour.

Ignore centredevils' Tweet linking Verratti to United. There's no substance to it. It's Al-Arabi from Qatar that's starting to become more interested in the player according to Loïc Tanzi (Tier 1).
Al Ahli are still pushing hard. The Saudis are going to make PSG an offer.
Verratti has no shortage of interested clubs.
Sources:
  • Tier 4:
To break the stalemate, the Emir of Qatar and Antero Henrique are working on an alternative: a move to Al-Arabi SC in Qatar.
However, the player has already given his agreement to Al-Hilal and is waiting for the private funds to arrive...
  • Tier 3:
Al-Arabi are now among the contenders for Marco Verratti's services.
The Qatari club have made the Italian midfielder a very serious target.

The rumors about Varane for a potential move to Saudi Arabia don't stop. I hope this is just nonsense rumour, however, since the transfer window there is 20 days longer than in the PL, there will be always a risk of losing a player during that time while our transfer window is closed. It would be desaster to lose Varane at this time without any quality replacement and be forced with Lindelöf and Maguire.

If we get a silly fee, 50 million say, I wouldn't turn it down.

Indeed, if we get a decent fee around 50 Mio. like Al Hilal paid for Mitrovic, we definitey should sell. However, we still would need to get a quality replacement for the last remaining days until the window closes.

Agree.
I also think, much as I rate Varane, I feel like he could go and get injured any minute when I watch him.

United need to act proactively in bringing in a replacement though also you wonder if this is the reason Maguire feels confident he'll get more gametime this season.

who would you sign who is better than Varane ? The drop off in quality after our first 2 CH‘s is massive.

Same feeling - every time I watch him when he makes sprints, I am scared he could injure himself. It is a question of time until he is out for a couple of weeks but until then he shall score goals and keep clean sheets :)

We definitely need a good quality backup as primary starter if he was about to leave. I do not want to end up with Lindelof and especially not with Maguire. It would be a desaster and worst scenario. It would basically confirm Harry's decision to stay.

Gravenberch is at least the right age profile, rather than an aging galáctico. Not sure I see this happening though. He was highly rated when he moved to Bayern, would be interesting to know why he is 4th in line now.

This is getting silly now. Why can't Ten Hag look away from players who haven't played in the Netherlands. It's barely a top 8 league in Europe.
Because who else will identify players for us? Our scouting system is useless, so we have to rely on the manager knowing about players.

Gravenberch would be the ultimate Manchester United panic buy. Watch us bidding 40m or something, while Amrabat going to Liverpool and ending up the better transfer.

Any bets on how much we're going to overpay on deadline week compared to what we'd havr got the ssme players for in July? I'm betting a conservative €20m

Our scouting team seems to identify plenty of players. Seems much more likely that they're just ignored constantly

Never been that impressed by Gravenberch, but it was only 2 years ago that people were hyping him as right up there in Europe's young players. I can't see how we would use him though. He seems exactly what we don't need. I'm worried that we don't even know what we need. I'd like use to go after Andre, Caqueret, and/or Amrabat so that we're more solid in midfield.

Didn't realise this. That is pretty terrifying. Any player could refuse to play and demand a move and the PL team would be pretty screwed.

WTF is going on ?

-Unable to move on dead wood....
-No money or desire to improve key areas of squad that need urgent attention
-Selling our young prospects to Dutch clubs for pittance
-No club sale still

Its not a great time to be a united fan.

You forgot potentially reintegrating a violent rapist into the team and selling our clubs soul to a sportwashing state.
