Well you said he missed a lot of pre-season with an injury indicating he wasn’t fully fit. He was literally playing league games for them after pre-season - so he was fully fit. Amrabat hasn’t played a single league game, has been training alone for weeks and didn’t play much in pre-season - there is no way ETH would throw him in ahead of Eriksen following one training session. It’s absurd to suggest otherwise.
Where did I say he’s going to start?

Does Italian window close at 7pm?
Doesn't it close at 24/00 (CEST) tonight just as it does for every other country in Europe?
Italian window closes at 8pm CEST. German window closes at 6pm CEST.
English and Spanish windows close at midnight CEST (11pm in England), which would be the time relevant for us to register transfers. We can still register Amrabat after the Italian window has closed.

Do Fiorentina have a replacement CM already in their squad? Or would they need to buy someone new at the last second?

I don’t really rate him that much, but I hope he’s decent if he does come in

Is it panicked? We’ve been linked with him all summer and he’s what we need (right profile etc)

It’s dragged due to our abominable finances and management (Glazers).
It’s become panicked because of bad financial management over years

So he’s backtracking already given he was suggesting there would be no new arrivals outside of GK and LB..
He's been doing a lot of backtracking recently. Luckhurst was adamant our interest in Amrabat was exaggerated by the Italian media and that it was very unlikely he would join. Now he's changed his tune since Ornstein reported that Amrabat is our main midfield target.

Casimero will soon by 32, his mobility is already fading. An injury at some point is pretty much inevitable, at which point this guy is our DM. Assuming we sign him. Embarrassing.

He’s been all over the place like a drunk idiot. He should stay away from posting anything till the window closes for his own sake.

The manager wants to use two advanced 8s, for that role Mount is better.
We can talk about how we think the midfield should be balanced but for what the manager actually wanted, we are stronger player wise.
Ten hag can play any system he wants but we still need another DM/CM before the window closes. We are doomed when Casemiro injured/suspended/fatigued. In addition, Erik ten Hag's system of playing with two advanced 8s is showing many worrying signs especially away from home.

Presumably the private jet would also be used by negotiators regardless of how discussions go.

I imagine that the club is hoping that Saudi will give them a route to sell Casemiro for decent money next summer

just get it done without any last minute nonsense and I think we'll be back on track for a decent season. I think this signing is that important to us

Weirdly enough I took you giving the example of Antony and stating he started as an indication you felt Amrabat may have started.
Because you said something about not training with the team. I wasn’t specifically arguing that he would start because I don’t think he will. May turn out that he’s in the squad though.

This guy alongside Casemiro might be a fantastic combo, especially with Bruno.
Gives us plenty of options.

Now that Mount is injured:
-----Casemiro
Bruno - Amrabat

Against big teams away from home, we can play Bruno out on the right:
-------Casemiro - Amrabat
Bruno--------Mount

A loan deal with an option, obviously depending on the terms, would be good. It seems pretty clear that United nor any of Europe's top clubs think this guy is quite good enough, otherwise he would have been more of a priority for one of them rather than a last-minute deal, but he will give more depth in an area where we are short and if it turns out he settles better than expected then the club could make it permanent.

Wow, didn't know every country had different times. Thought they all closed the same minute... you learn new stuff every day :)

It looks pretty well balanced. Amrabat is not elite, but he's decent at progressing the ball while also being defensively solid. He is a better replacement for Eriksen than McTominay or Mount, as he has many of the same strengths, without Eriksen's defensive weakness. If we can somehow get it over the line today, he improves the team in my view.
