The best fecking buy we've done this summer.

At least in terms of someone who will impact our team immediately and potentially change the entire functionality of our midfield.

Well done Matt. Big cock energy.

I hope this is not a permanent deal. He's a fairly average player who had an outstanding world cup, he's not even in the top 10 midfielders in Italy. There's a reason all the top 6 teams , the UK, Spain and even in Italy are not after him despite having a low fee. Liverpool, who had a huge hole at no 6, passed over him and so did Bayern. He is not going to take us closer to the top teams and will essentially be a squad filler. I'd rather it just be a loan fee and we focus next summer on getting a press resistant, dribbling, athletic midfielder,
I hope this is the case as well. Like you said he's an average player who will be "deadwood" in a couple of months time. And we'll find it difficult to sell him like it happened with other deadwoods.

So hopefully no obligation to buy and just a stupid loan deal like Weghorst.

Good deal all round this. He’s a decent player - nothing spectacular but I think he’ll surprise a few. The deal is also decent for all parties considering. We get a chance to look at him for 12 months for £8.5m then we get a slightly reduced fee at the end of that if we want him. Fiorentina get a decent amount now and then what they want if we decide to take him - bare in mind they also won’t be able to replace him now with such short notice.

Okay credit where it's due, this is an actual good deal. The first thing we've done right this window.

That's a decent addition I reckon. He's not brilliant, but our need was fairly acute and our financial situation dire. Given all of that, this is a good deal.

At last! Calling this now, he is going to surprise a lot of people, great attitude and fire in the belly.

Has he ever performed outside of a World Cup? Even Pogba looked good at a World Cup once.

I’m not a fan of this move, but a loan with an option seems like an ok solution for all. Will give him a chance to make me eat my words and genuinely hope he does so.

If he ends up as underwhelming as I think he’ll prove, at least we can send him back next year.

Fantastic we got this over the line, probably our most vital signing of the summer if he turns out good seeing as we're so light on defensive midfielders and offloaded Fred also. Aside from the GK position of course.

this needs to be pinned when people complain about him being a average signing. probably same people who complained that Martinez would be too short for PL.
Most of them don't watch Serie A so opinions should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Watch and compare him against £105m Declan Rice in the Conference league final.

 no one passed him over. he refused to negotiate with any other teams as he wanted Utd.

You've obviously never seen him play or done any research on him.

Nah he's average, some posters on here who probably watch 2 Serie A games a season told me so.
The negativity is just unbelievable. Even worse than Sporting forum and we are pretty negative. I mantain that I think this is a very good signing and will be here to see it unfold. The match day threads will be unbearable if he slow starts though.

He will.

Only thing that is a typical Man Utd thing is that we’ve made him £10m more expensive. He was available for £25m straight transfer. If Romano is right we’ve signed him on loan for £10m with £25m buy option.

Option to buy? Isn't he out of contract next summer?
That option is an obligation in all but name. Only reason it's not officially named an obligation is probably to get by FFP accounting. We would not shell out €10m for a one-year rental only to send him back to Fiorentina.

I was seriously impressed with him at the world cup, but haven't watched his performances at Fiorentina. Hope he brings his defensive nous and ball carrying consistently to us, though I saw a few posters say he is not much of an upgrade from McFred?

Who are top 10 midfielders in Serie A since you pretend to know?

Which I still think has been out position for the entire window. I don’t think we were interested in Regulion all window either but here we are. Amrabat’s agent has worked overtime this window and his client has got the move he wanted.

Good signing, can play as back up for casemiro or play next to him to control the tempo. A type of player we don't have.
