I can't believe you even asked that question. A man who has won several CL titles, Prem titles, won leagues titles across Europe in seria A, epl and la liga. played under Zidane Ancelotti, Sir Alex Ferguson broken records upon records both domestically and internationally and you think you should ignore what this man has to say but we should blindly eat and feed from the hand of a manager who has only managed in the dutch league where steve mclaren won the league title in his first season with FC twente? . Do me a favour

Jesus Christ, this fanbase is lost. I'm not a ronaldo fan boy but he he reached heights ETH never achieved as a player. Read my posts above I've gone into great detail on how eth mismanaged Ronaldo, DDG and now using sancho as a scapegoat to deflect away from the fact that eth comes up short every time we play a top 9 team away from home

ETH is making a rod off his own back by throwing players under the bus. Sancho is being targeted. If eth doesn't talk about sancho the scrutiny will be on eth for his tactics and his poor away form against the big teams. You need to realise eth is feeling the pressure and is deflecting on to players who he feels are disposable. Sancho is being scapegoated to deflect away fromthe fact how poor antony has been and how ETH is struggling in his 2nd season

Mark my wordst the chickens are coming home to roost real soon and real fast. The club is in a mess due to many of the miscalculated decisions eth has made
Absolute horseshit of an argument. Ronaldo is probably in top 3-5 players of all time. Do you think SAF, Pep or any other legendary manager has ever reached those heights which Ronaldo hit? Does that even have any correlation with their managerial qualities?

Why didn't any other manager in Europe want Ronaldo if he was that good when we let him go last year? They should have folded and readied their backsides for Ronaldo's arrival as you say just because he has won things right?

ETH has made mistakes, yes. But he handled Ronaldo perfectly. The guy was done at top level and showed when he was even dropped for Portugal. Their new clown of a coach has brought him back and will realize how turdy he is once Portugal crashes out of Europe again with Ronaldo leading the line.

Sancho is the highest earner at the club and is living like he's on a holiday ever since he arrived. He needs to up the performances or else get kicked out of the club. The arm around the shoulder approach was used last season but nothing happened so now he should face the heat.

I was very happy when we signed Sancho and I was also one of the idiots saying we should pay up the summer before.

However, he doesn't really have a place in our best 11, even before his tweet. Rashford is undisputed on the left and Garnacho is probably ahead of him too. On the right: Anonty, despite his shortcomings (and criminal case) has performed better. He did well at false 9 in pre-season but I'm not sure if those slow tempo games really reflect anything in terms of the PL.

I think it's best that we move him and his high wages on but I doubt he would be interested in Saudis Arabia. We're in quite a pickle here.

Hopefully him and ten Hag can sort their issues and he can prove to be an important squad player for the rest of the season. It seems unlikely though and he'll probably loaned in January/summer with us forking out a large chunk of his wages.

Apologies if posted already, but just watched the below video that outlines some of the problems he had throughout the years.

I think it was a good summary but don't believe United had a "brillant plan" of how to integrate him. Sancho stood for a completely different playstyle to what Solskjaer was trying to implement at this time. But there are two sides to this as Sancho did decide for United and obviously set such concerns aside if he had any to beginn with.

And then there's the whole professionalism topic. I don't believe United with all the dressing room politics at the time was the right destination for a player who has his issues with punctuality and discipline and responds to rejection by shutting down. He probably arrived at the worst time in that sense, with Solskjaer being manager, the CR7 deal and all that.

Of course now the Saudis are being stingy with their money. Happy to spend 40m on past it players but obligation to buy a young 'talented' player is where they draw the limit.

Lying invertebrate scumbag Ogden always has something nasty to say about one of our players during international break. I have a bridge to sell anyone who believes he has actual sources at the club and isn't just constructing hit pieces from whole cloth for his ESPN/Disney overlords.

I am sure Ole or one of the hierarchy claimed we had a new phase in recruitment to assess character. Seems like we ignored huge red flags with Sancho.

The Saudis know very well what they are doing with their money. If Sancho didn't look like a surplus to requirements, but a valuable cog in our system instead, they would have probably made a move already. Don't forget that two of the washed up players they purchased actually left one of the top-four contenders without a holding midfielder in the middle of their rebuild. Tell me again, are there even rumours about Newcastle players making the same trip?

If true, I think it's dumb move not to take the loan. Puts him in the shop window even if he doesn't shine hugely there, pays his massive wages, removes toxicity from the club, and if he does come back after a season we'd have time to move him on next summer.

Oh come on. They’re more interested in raising their profile than worrying about how to fit these players in. Almost any PL standard player will immediately become one of the best XI players at any Saudi club anyway.

And you can be damn sure they will target Newcastle players the second they become surplus to requirements, as they’ve already done with saint-maximim

The difference is SAF didn't publicly disclose all the problems he had with ruud while those things were happening during his time at the club. He simply sold him. Another example is Paul Scholes who refused to play against Arsenal in the League Cup, as he was unhappy for being substituted in the previous game against Liverpool. Many fans don't even know about because SAF was wise enough to keep it in house and discipline internally. He did not tell the media that scholes refused to play and will not feature as a result as he knew they would only blow things up between himself, the player and the club. If SAF did a Ten Hag, you would've scholes again
He did do it with Rooney and Beckham and many other players publicly though, via comments to the press. So you can't just pick and choose.

who do you feckin think ?
This guy is a clown. He has given us fewer decent performances than fecking Daniel James.
never considered this but its actually true, Dan James made a big contribution to the side particularly early in his first season. He was of course not the solution and got figured out by the opposition but overall certainly no flop at the price we paid and then got from Leeds. Sancho has been an absolute disaster, much worse than Harry Maguire.

He doesn’t even come close to Maguire whose first couple of seasons were solid.

He’s in Sanchez territory, and even he won couple of games for us.

He’s only a couple of notches above Donny in terms of what he’s achieved in a United shirt.

Also re: Dan James, I honestly believe selling him was when everything started to unravel for Ole, he’d have been much better off sticking to his principles and keeping him but he binned him and got Ronaldo instead.

These apparent leaks from both sides are pathetic really, it doesn't reflect well on anyone if that is happening. I don't think Ten Hag said anything wrong in his press conference but it was certainly a bit naïve from him to do that ahead of an international break and with everything else going on at the club right now.

Sancho himself has reacted pretty badly with his statement. Both should have sat down and sorted this out the day after instead of going off on holidays and letting the situation get worse.

When all the dust settles United are still left with a player on the bench who's level is probably that of an Aston Villa. Sat next to a defender who's level is West Ham. Sat next to a CM who's level is probably Rangers.

United can't get rid of him, just like they can't get rid of the others.

EtH hasn't had many easy weeks as the manager...lucky he never had any hair when he arrived.

I'll believe it when i see it happening. It's not a conspiracy at all. Liverpool are in the middle of a total rebuild. They invested heavily in their attack last season and this summer they decided to build a new midfield. They would have been in a much better place, if they had kept one of Henderson/Fabinho in the #6 as a placeholder. It's painfully obvious that they have a problem there. And they even tried to overpay and take the risk with a teenager, but they couldn't do even that because a sugar daddy decided he wanted a new toy. Now, we can all laugh because it's the scousers. But it will happen to us, too. And yes, the Saudis will use the player market to fund Newcastle and/or help them bypass the FFP rules.

Him saying he's a scapegoat is such fecking bullshit. The boy has been afforded more patience than almost any other player here. The fans, in the main, have been very supportive of him and patient. All of us just wanted to see him do well and fulfill his potential. The club and the manager have been extremely accommodating towards him. We literally gave him a few months off so he could take a break and deal with other issues, which is literally unheard of.

Nobody questioned this (or very few did). Then when he came back, he was eased into the team with, yet again, the full backing of the fans and club. Not to mention the egregious fecking wage he's on. Then the manager makes a pretty innocuous (IMO) comment after the game, and he throws a bit of a strop on social media and says he's been made a scapegoat. Give me a fecking break.

Get rid. He's absolutely not worth the investment, both in terms of time and money.

If you don’t think the Saudi league will do whatever it can to help Newcastle out I think you’re very naive. Obviously their entire transfer strategy isn’t aimed to influence the Premier League but it’s reasonable to assume that it will be a factor in their decisions.

I do agree that Liverpool losing both defensive midfielders at once made life hard for them. Just like losing Salah will also make life difficult. Newcastle being one of a short list of clubs that benefit from Liverpool finding life difficult.

As for Sancho, maybe they don’t think he’s good enough for the Saudi league and will be benched by the likes of Al-Dawsari, Hamdallah or Igor Coronado. Maybe there are other reasons they’re not interested in signing him. But taking him off our hands would be a big help to us right now (which is, in turn, bad news for Newcastle)

Even if Anthony is jailed, I still don't see Sancho becoming a nailed on starter. I'd have Garnacho and Mount in ahead of him.

Well the club has already leaked information that Ten hag is ready to come down hard on Jadon Sancho, so I think at this point his united career is over all because the manager couldn't help himself in trying to show off on how much of a big boss he is in a post presser
The reason Sancho's career is under threat, is because he is challenging ETH's control. As soon as a manager allows that, he's finished. That is why Sancho has to go.

I may be wrong, but unless Sancho really wants to go there at the age of 23, i doubt they will make a move. They will leave a rival for top-four with a hot potato in their hands. One that hasn't shown that can offer any solutions to our problems. We'll see.

That is a remarkably paranoid interpretation of a relatively innocuous post match comment. I'm looking forward to your thoughts about the moon landing and 9/11.

I agree that I don't like any of this off the record briefing about what the players or other employees think. It adds to the circus, but that is United these days, it predates ETH, and I don't like to see it.

Perhaps but that is surely how it is being interpreted by the United hierarchy. Maybe it's all a giant misunderstanding but I don't think so.

Sancho is the one who has stepped out of line for about 2/3 years now in terms of contribution to our performances. Needs to be sold. Was allowed a mid season sabbatical by the same manager who clearly had his back for over a year. Has no reason to lie about the players application in training by leaving him out and thus jeopardising his own job further down the road. Player should at worst said “if he thinks that I need to double down my efforts the boss is always right.” Can’t take a manager saying for one week his efforts dropped. Jesus

It's not paranoid at all. ETH may, eventually, fail at United. But, as it is often the case, this will be the result of many different parameters not working properly, many of which are out of a manager's hands. As the head of the department, he's often burdened to choose between difficult choices and make tough calls. Among mistakes of his own, of course, but even SAF wasn't infallible. What your guy is doing there is using a tough situation to play the oracle and present to you the ONE person that will be responsible for the failure. Politicians do it all the time, painting a world in black and white that's easy to understand so you'll have your scapegoat and you won't look deeper. It's not paranoia, it's agenda.

Sancho is a victim of his own success, and sadly doesn’t possess the mentality to maintain the high standards that got him the transfer to us.

As the late, great Marvin Hagler once said: “It's tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5 am when you've been sleeping in silk pyjamas.”

He’s not the first nor will he be the last footballer or sportsman to become a victim of zero-to-hero syndrome. The same happened to the likes of Hazard and Ronaldinho. The difference was, they took their foot off AFTER they had achieved greatness.

.... isn't this how it should have been handled in the first place?

FFS.
Ten Hag has been trying for the best part of 18months to do this in private.

There have been reports where Ten Hag would set up one on one meetings with Sancho and he wouldn't turn up at all, is consistently late to team meetings/training & sulks around Carrington because he isn't selected or played in his preferred position (left wing).

Ideally you sell Sancho but not even the Saudi's want him given the wages + transfer fee req.

Doing this in private obviously hasn't worked. Going public changes the dynamic. It puts more accountability on Sancho. It's risky, but what does the club/Ten Hag have to lose ?
