We will start winning - even if it doesn't feel like it right now. Let's hope the Gala game was the bottom of the curve and we're gonna start improving. 3-0 win here.
Yeah, this is it. A lot of injuries and a lot of good players in bad form, that will change.

Brentford will sit back and counter with more conviction that we will, but I do agree that it’s time we sit back and counter. We’ve got incredible speed up front and midfielders who can hit long balls. All that said, we have a serious problem at keeper and United players appear to have already given up on the manager.

This game could prove to be the beginning of the end for Ten Hag. Brentford’s position on the table isn’t indicative of their performances, as they have been quite unlucky. They are not pushovers and could easily slap us on our own turf… and they are due a win. If the manager values his job whatsoever, or has any clue what he is doing, he will drop Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Andre Onana. No more Player FC. Also, bring a definitive end to the Casemiro – Bruno – Mount midfield, and end the experiment in the LB position.

Naturally, I don’t think any of this is going to happen, which is why I will be checking out of this one.

Fully expecting a loss. This team is just fundamentally broken, mentally and physically, and it might be beyond his ability to fix.
I’m fully expecting a win. I said this before of course and was keenly disappointed.

As for selection and system / formation, I doubt EtH will change much because we’ve been improving. Possibly he will put Dalot at LB and Vic at RB with Maguire coming in at CB.

He just has to keep plugging away at the players to concentrate, read the game and stay calm at both ends of the pitch.

I think we can beat Brentford. (There’s a sentence I never thought I’d need to type.)

Shuffle the defenders, Amrabat should be in midfield, that experiment is done

I think the key is just moving amrabat out of left back but also moving him next to Casemiro in midfield, solves 2 massive issues. Gives Case support next to him both in build up and defensively, and then puts Dalot at left back and greatly improves that side for us. What we do with our front 4, honestly not too bothered, we'll have a good base that we should be able to control games far better.

I think it'll be Bruno, Rashford and Antony behind Hojlund which is pretty balanced.. personally I'd go Mount and Garnacho in, but can understand going Rashford and bruno. But I'll be very annoyed if we see Amrabat at left back again and if we don't put Amrabat next to Casemiro.

This Brentford side drew 2-2 with Spurs and only lost 0-1 to Arsenal and Newcastle. They've scored more than us and conceded less. I just don't trust our comical defending

They'll score early from someone being unmarked on a free kick or corner. We'll score to even it back and then we'll have a defensive blunder. 2-1 Brentford.

Also we'll have our weekly VAR incident where there'll be a borderline penalty for us and VAR won't review it or we'll get a goal and VAR will intervene because Holjund was off by a chin hair or something.

Easy 4:0. Turn of luck has to happen sometimes. Our scoring is decent recently, imagine scoring 5 goals in two games and losing both of them, defensive lapses of concentration is what is fecking us.

I'm going for an optimistic 4-1, Hojlund double, Garnacho and Rashford.

Yeah. This crazy run can’t continue imo. We’ve got a lot of quality and I just think we’ve been through a perfect storm of bizarre errors, injuries and tough breaks. Some of the goals we conceded were the kind that miss the target or hit someone 9 times out of 10. This is all stuff that applies to every team but we just seem to have had it all at once. Still, we should do better and that’s on everybody.

Ignoring the excuses, we should be doing better and I think we will. In my estimation, if we play like we have been and manage to concentrate a little better, we’ll win easily.

We have just been missing chances .. that is the worst thing..
If we had scored .. we would be better In a lot of games..

end the experiment in the LB position.
How so with the current injury situation? Dalot could be moved to left back where he played this season already and was worse than he is at right back. Then you'll have experiment at who plays RB, Lindelof mentioned and if placed there Brentford would focus strong to exploit him.

I'd prefer to see Maguire partnering Varane and Lindleof at full back, rather than Amrabat playing out of position and drifting out of that position.
I doubt ETH would do it, and I don't like it but with Maguire there, 3 at the back could be an option, with Amrabat and Casemiro in front, put Dalot at right wing back, play Mount in the 10, put Garnacho on the left and let Rashford drift right and left like he did on Tuesday.

    Onana
    Lindelof Maguire Varane
    Amrabat Casemiro
    Dalot Mount Garnashers
    Hojlund Rashford

Obviously I am biased , but it just seems our luck has been so bad this season. We need one or two moments to get us to click, plus sort out that left back position of course.

Antony in contention to start Ten Hag said. Would bring some welcome balance to our right side at least.

You mean like teams are exploiting Amrabat right now?

Antony is at least useful in defense, so he and Lindelof should be able to handle the right side. Naturally, this makes our right side entirely nonexistent offensively, but this is business as usual. And Dalot has shown himself to be serviceable on the left. Much better than Amrabat at any rate. Garnacho also helps defend more often than not, which is why he should be starting.

Speaking of Amrabat, he needs to be moved into the midfield where he belongs, alongside Casemiro. Maybe then teams won't just casually walk past it, like they are on an evening stroll. If he proves to be the saviour the Caf thinks he is, that is.

We should be turtling up and hoping to hit them on the counter. It's the only way we are getting anything out of this. Going toe-to-toe with them is guaranteed to end up in tears again.

My biggest concern is that I am starting to think ETH is too stubborn and so for that reason I expect it to be the same lineup as midweek with Antony starting for Hannibal. That means Amrabat out of position and a midfield 3 of Case, Mount and Bruno which we have already seen gives us next to zero control. If he goes this route we will probably lose and he really would not have any reason to complain if he was fired as a result.

I agree some of his selections and the way we set up does seem a bit stubborn.

The problem he’s got at LB is not easily solved though. If he’s been trying combinations in training and ends up thinking Amrabat is the least bad option it will look stubborn but in fact he probably examined the alternatives and they were all even worse.

His apparent stubbornness may turn out to be a strength in disguise. But could be his undoing, I suppose.

It's going to be experimental no matter the back line that is selected. As for Antony what frame of mind will he be in? more likely be introduced than given a start, although Ten Hag said today he "ready for a start" so we'll see.

It'd be nice if we actually looked half competent in the final third. I know it's asking for a minor miracle but I'd actually like to watch us score a goal or perhaps even two. Pretty please United.

    -------------------------Onana-----------------------------

    Lindelof------Varane-------Maguire--------Dalot

    --------------------Casemiro-----Amrabat---------------

    Antony---------------Mount------------------Garnacho

    ------------------------Højlund--------------------------------

I would go for something like this. Onana lucky to keep his place but I don't know enough about our backup keeper. Feel like Rashford and Bruno needs some time out of the team. It would also improve our options from the bench.

Watch this tifo analysis. Teams have been doing this to us regularly. We are like a house of cards

    4-4-2 - let’s go old school, analogue.
2 CMs 2 wingers, big man up top and playmaker just off him.

    Bananas
    Lindelof maguire varane dalot
    Anthony cas amrabat garnacho
    Bruno hojlund

Let’s not shoe horn everyone into a system that doesn’t work. Mount rashy Erickson on the bench for impact.

He will not drop Bruno, Rashford or Onana.

    Anthony will be back in.

Possibility for Maguire to start as may have to play Lindelof at RB and swop Dalot to LB.

Need Eric to show a bit more imagination today rather than just trotting out the same 11 again that have lost the last 2 games.

This is must win for ETH otherwise the pressure is going to escalate significantly.

Here’s hoping that Hoyland continues his fine form.

Granted Onana does rhyme with banana but calling a black player “bananas” is wild.
