Just when we had a good game as was getting a little bit less dislikeable he says this. We want you out, tried to sell you all summer but west ham deal fell through yet he still doesn't get the hint does he?

On the plus side, at least he might actually just be too thick to be affected by the abuse he gets.

Just as I was beginning to think we could have him be the main CB during this injury crisis haha! But you know what; it is not really that bad given the level of professionalism of some other players currently at the club. He keeps his head down and always ready to represent the club. These international stories are just a way for him to justify being selected for England. I am fine with that.

Something like "I think I performed well in the last game and if I'm being given more chances I'd do my best and show the gaffer I still have my parts to play at United" would be better. If he follows it with a handful of decent performances his stake will be much much higher.

Problem with his statements is, sometimes he forgets he is still an easy target. No need to keep bigging yourself up all the time. The last performance was the best example, he helped us win the game and everyone didnt say a bad word about him.
I get that and am with you on how he really should just say nothing.

But him saying anything doesn’t warrant the abuse he’s getting.

Nothing controversial in what he said, his win % is high because he never plays in any important or semi important matches if everyone is fit.
The middle one is a pretty clear statement of intent - he's not going to accept not playing regularly, and if it continues he's going to complain.

The irony of this statement.

He's been stripped of the captaincy and the club tried to offload him to fecking West Ham and force him to take a massive pay cut. He literally set up the winning goal in the last minute of injury time of our last game and has stated he wants to earn his place back in the team and help them do well.

And we have a manager who we know wont pick players if they are behaving like dicks, yet is happy to keep picking Maguire, which should give you a hint about whether there is an attitude problem.

But no, 5 pages+ of idiotic abuse.

I really wonder if he actually meant that the win rate is so high when he starts because of him? Like, does he really think he's the difference between a loss and a win most of the time?

He played well in the last game. He has the position. I would like to see him continue. Varane cannot just walk in because he is now ready. We need to get back to having competition for places. If you get injured then you lose your place and wait to get an opportunity again.

It’s a statement that he will have a chat with the club about his future, not that he will complain. Perfectly sensible thing to say.

The man clearly refuses to give up his Rolls Royce income, which is fine, and is willing to fight to his place back in the starting XI. I’d rather not read self—aggrandizing statements from him but I appreciate that he’s competing on the pitch.

Maguire has been professional. The issue is Man Utd refused to pay him off. so nothing changed.

I definitely think his time here is done but he's not really said anything wrong here has he?
The problem is he’s done this same shit for years. The guy has had a brutal last couple of years, finally comes in and plays well his last start, and is back to immediately spouting off in the media instead of accepting that he’s been shit for a while.

I mean my god Maguire has to have the worst advisors to keep doing this shit in the media. Zero self awareness

No. That's what you say when you want to make it clear you're not happy, but wrapped in enough silk to not cause immediate trouble. Note the "I'm not going to" part.

He needs a new PR team because I'm sorry but this comes across terribly.

He is counting the game he came on for 90 seconds against Man City at home towards his win percentage stats even though he didn’t touch the ball.
He's also counting the game he came on with 9 minutes left against wolves when we were already 2-0 up. 4 minutes left against Villa at home already 1-0 up. Came on at 90+3 against wolves away when we were1-0 up. 13 minutes left against Forest already 2-0 up. 10 minutes left against Arsenal already 3-1 up.

who do you feckin think ?
Did he not have a chat with the club and they told him he could leave?
Yes i thought that chat was done and with a gentle nudge towards the door included. A fee was agreed, deal done but he chose to hang around :houllier:

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
I admire his tenacity. Take a paycut and move to West Ham? feck that I'll stay and fight for my spot.

The fact that Hag is still using him shows that he is on the right track for a comeback. You've got a manger who isn't afraid to dump players he doesn't like.

He was asked a question in a fecking press conference whilst on International duty....this is nothing to do with his 'PR team'

Also to anyone who claims he had an opportunity to go to West Ham, here's what he actually said:

The opportunity to go to West Ham wasn't agreed between both clubs and myself. The actual opportunity wasn't there as we didn't get far enough down the line

some people really need to read/listen before getting angry.

Honestly mate, he really really does. Those cameo appearances too
The problem he has now is that he cannot make the slightest mistake in our next few league games because you know what will happen. It’s just completely senseless, he’s an error prone centre back playing in an out of form team with mentally weak players and we have Man City round the corner. He’s just setting himself up to fail at this point. How anyone in this thread is defending his comments is bizarre. It is the dumbest thing to do at this point.

To be fair it's probably correct whether you want to call them easier games or not.

Its getting boring though the amount of people running in to insult every player for any perceived criticism of Ten Hag now.

Things are clearly not great at the club and that does not bode well for us

First season under ETH, 90 minutes played all comps:

Brighton (h) L
Brentford (a) L
Sociedad (h) L (EL)
Sevilla (a) L (EL)

Betis (a) W (EL)
West Ham (h) W
Bournemouth (h) W
Leeds (a) W
Everton (h) W
Forest (a) W
Fulham (h) W
Villa (h) W (LC)
Charlton (h) W (LC)
Reading (h) W (FAC)
West Ham (h) W (FAC)
Fulham (h) W (FAC)

Not hard to spot the reason why his win rate is good.

All jokes aside, Does he have a statement of some sort planned for every International break? He always seems to have something to say every time he has an England game coming up

Makes you wonder if someone gets in his ear at International Break doesn't it. Just wish the turd would feck off, he's got an abysmal attitude. Notice how it's "my win rate" and not "the teams win rate", it's all me, me, me.

His comments, outside of the main quote, seem fair enough but he and quite a few of our players strike me as people surrounded by flatterers telling them how great they are despite winning barely anything substantial like United players should do. Obviously if you're being unfairly attacked so often you're going to defend yourself but between sharing a video of his highlights against the mighty Norwich and celebrating a goal against the international powerhouse Albania with that celebration, along with some very silly quotes, he does seem a bit misguided.

Sad to say it's been a hard task to like some of our players over the past 10 years since Fergie left. It shouldn't be like that at all but it's true.

He just said his party couldn't agree the payoff package with United. Neither his demand nor United's offer are known to the public. So in the end he stays and he will keep fighting for his place.

So he stayed for money, but now moans about playing time less than 2 months later. The guy was born with foot in his mouth

Or you can say he honors his contract. It is Oct already so may be he is trying to start the negotiation with United again for his winter window departure. If he trains hard, give his all in the field when he is called upon I don't see where the problem is.

No, a statement saying he is working hard to be ready for the team is the correct approach, his future is irrelevant to the position he is in right now as he is here. So being ready, coming on and playing well will only help his future.

Not, I'm not playing enough so I will speak to club, maybe a note from his mum will help.

He needs to keep his mouth shut and get on with what he is paid to do, not chat sh!t.
