Have to play the strongest team we have available. But mix up the winger situation.

He won't drop Rashford so I'd say play both Rashford and Garnacho. Don't see why Garnacho hasn't been tried on the right side.

His style could suit a traditional winger role as well.

And if ETH is unwilling to do that put Garnacho left and Rashford right. It can't be any worse than we are currently so worth trying.

Ideally I'd go Mainoo and Case in midfield as I think that's the midfield we will be hoping can become our best asap. But Mainoo played last night so that won't happen just yet.

I would rather see Hojlund play than Martial to see if we can get him into some goalscoring form

There should be zero reason for Martial to play this game over Hojlund.

If he does play then it should be in a formation that accommodates them both.

Regardless of the goalscoring situation Hojlund has been our best attacker of anyone bin the front 3 on terms of perferomance.

And this is a game we need to win so not playing him isn't really an option.

Don't care that much about the League Cup and think we should give some youngsters a chance. Maybe see how that Turkish goalkeeper does as well. Unfortunately Mainoo played last night so he won't be available.

    Bayindir
    Dalot - Varane - Lindelof - Reguilon
    Casemiro - Amrabat
    Pellistri - Mejbri - Garnacho
    Hojlund

    Never gonna happen of course.

He will go with strongest team, defeat tonight is going to be more negativity going in to Saturday's tricky game away to Fulham. Need to bounce back with win tonight.

I'm predicting very little rotation here as the manager is now in survival mode.

Another bleak night ahead me thinks.

Even he wanted to drop Rashford he cant as the media will jump on it being punishment for his birthday party etc. I think Bruno gets a rest today though. Hope to see Hannibal in the starting 11.

hannibal is really a must start. Midfield is a joke for us and he will at least provide a little spark there. If we get mctominay there yet again im gonna lose my damn mind.

Think they’ll play a much weakened team as they have loads of injuries. We’ll win.
Whatever team Newcastle line out with tonight will be stronger than the middle of the road teams that Man United have either struggled against our lost too this season.

Howe will have them playing to a set system plus he'll know he's up against a team low on confidence and aren't hard to score against, matter of fact they'll likely gift you a goal or two.

Team is in a rut so why not try to break the pattern for the cup games. Play Mount and a few young ones.

But the sicko in me also wants to witness the meltdown when EtH picks Rashy/Bruno and McTom.

By far his best chance for a trophy though, will probably go for it.

I'm very curious to see the lineup. Does Ten Hag have what it takes to do what must be done? Or will he chicken out again?

Newcastle also have injuries and the suspension of Tonali, so United should go all out in the first 20 minutes to get a lead instead of pissing about passing the ball sideways and backwards and to their players. I'm usually an glass half full bloke but this lot test me to the limit.

Like a packet of revels, not sure what to expect tonight from this lot. Just hope we win and give Mainoo some minutes. Bruno or Rashford can have the night off for all I care - take your pick.

    Onana

    Dalot - Varane - Maguire - Reguilon

    Amrabat - Eriksen

    Pellistri - McTominay - Garnacho

    Højlund

Bayindir, Lindelof, Evans, Mainoo, Hannibal Mejbri, Mount, Antony, Rashford, Martial

Manchester United 2-1 Newcastle United (more in hope than expectation)

The way I see it, today we should rotate and play some youth.
I wouldn’t actually mind getting out of this cup if this means less games played and more time for the team to actually train

Maybe we have one of those nights, when all we hit goes in! Maybe eh!

Something has to go our way, a game where we look half-decent.... surely??

    Come on lads....

Knowing ETH and his ambition for even domestic cups (which is a good thing), I doubt we would change that much from our strongest possible team whatever it is. Line up with 3+ youngster is unlikely.

I hope Mainoo and Garnacho play a part and that's it.

Thing is, if this was the side ten Hag did put out tonight and they did well and progressed to the next round, would he have the cojones to keep both on the bench come Saturday?

I think Newcastle will go all out against us tonight, and usually I would want to play some of the kids.
Can't stomach the thought of getting KOd at home v this lot, so hoping for a strong line up and a Rasmus brace for 2-0.

I’d like to think he’d rotate the team and play a similar line up to the one that dominated palace. But with it being against Newcastle and the only chance of winning a trophy this season then I think he’ll go all out. He’s hanging onto his job.
This cup does nothing to help his job. He should be rotating for rest and to give other players a chance to impress.

Nonsense. He may not get a lot of credit if we win tonight but you better belive that a tanking against Newcastle at home will add to the pressure.

if Hojlund's back means he cant play 90 mins bench him - his fitness is pivotal to our November

Would like to see a front 3 of

    Garnacho - Rashford - Antony

    with Mount behind

Ideally see Mainoo/Casemiro get some football too

I’d love to see some young players come in but we all know the team will be largely unchanged.
I think we will get beat quite easily tonight but be nice to see some decent football from United at least.

Newcastle in the Carabao. Last time we looked like a proper team. Good vibes. The resurrection starts here.
