Thought this game would be a good opportunity for Mount to get some minutes and build some confidence. It seems that we had no idea what we're buying.

Will struggle here. Luton are no mugs.

Rashford on the right rarely works and if Garnacho isn't on his game we will have no support for Hojlund leaving us with 3 players doing feck all for 90 minutes.

Did we just think “hey we wasted 40 million on DVB to back up Bruno” and then think we should do it again with an even more expensive player?

We had multiple bids rejected by Chelsea to sign Mount and now he cant get in the team? Maybe we should have just walked away then?
One of the best examples of one club riding roughshod over another regarding a transfer in many years. I hope they laughed their way to the bank after this one because they really had us over the barrel.

If he thinks Victor/Evans is better than Varane, than i dont get it, but fine. He has way more knowledge on both the game itself and the players.

What is not fine for me is spending that much money on a player, Mount, for him yo play 5-10 minutes each match. That blocked so many other things we could have done.
Disagree on the first sentence, dont need to have great knowledge on the players or game....my Gran would be a better option than Lindelof and she has been dead over thirty years.

As fro Mount, althogh I rate him as a player was baffled on us wanting to sign him with or needs irrespective of the over inflated fee considering his contract situation. As you state, that fee could have bought several quality yong centre backs, there were also several other optios to Mount like Maddison, Caqueret if we were going down that routed for nigh on half the fee, we bought badly still nder Ten Hag, no gettign away from it.

Half a billion spent, and we have a core three at the heart of defence of maguire, lindelhoff and mctominay. Just like when Ole was getting sacked.

The good news is that luton are so bad, I doubt even we can be poor enough to lose this.

Although I expect that we are going to have a good go at it.

Varane is clearly gone, saudi league in January I suspect.

Varane has been atrocious and gets injured every game and has his head turned. Also is laughably bad on the ball this year without Martinez to handle all the build up. So yeah if you want to pass out from the back, need better passers... He's the worst we have in that regard.

He's said before that he prefers Maguire and Varane on the right side of central defence, which is why he rarely plays them both together.

Yes you are right on Victor. My point was that selection is one thing. Spending money we cant afford to waste on a benchplayer is out of this world stupid.

Thanks, i like it to :)

ETH is talking absolute rubbish with this. There has 100% been a fallout between the two. Varane’s body language on the touchline on Wednesday night confirmed it for me.

A clear handball or foul from Luton in the penalty area. They check it doesn’t get given. Then a less incident happens in one of the 3pm games and it gets given…
That was more specific than I was expecting  Fair play if you call that correctly

Win today and we’re 5 behind Spurs. The difference between us and Spurs / Arsenal this season are the two horrendous decisions going against us in both matches. We just lost our points in bunches instead of it being disguised by spreading them out every other match

£85m Antony - benched at home to Luton
£60m Mount - benched at home to Luton
Chases Amrabat all summer - benched at home to Luton
Maguire and McT first names on the team sheet after being transfer listed
    Varane outcast

    AWB presumably injured again

That's more than double our total transfer expenditure since the early 90s

Look at that bench, frightening the amount of money ploughed into that.

Maguire and Lindelof, McT and Eriksen as our spine, wow!

Glad Amrabat dropped, I’d have Mainoo and Hannibal playing before him.

Shocked that he's benched Mount. I thought he'd go with him today, at least to give him some game time.

Really, really weird transfer. Could have spent that money on another forward!

Terrible team. Back to playing Maguire Lindelof as out CB pairing. Arguably the worst pairing top 15. Dalot with two stinkers in a row. Not much to get excited about

Højlund will win the game for us today. He must be filled with confidence following his CL brace. Eriksen, Bruno & Rashford with the assists. United win 3-1.

I think he'll get his first Premier League goal today. Think he'll score twice, in fact.

Two from him and one from Bruno to make it 3-0. I really hope we fecking wallop this lot.
