I'm totally ignorant in Irish politic matters, can you please tell me why?
On thing is Covid fueled the creation and subsequent growth of a permanently aggrieved, conspiratorial protesting class who move from issue to issue with little coherence but lots of pent up anger.

Another thing is Covid really changed the atmosphere of Dublin's city centre. Dublin is a little different from most other capitals I've experienced in that the traditional working-class inner city areas are located extremely close to the central commercial and tourist areas - in fact they overlap in many places, and many people - "native" Dubs, migrants, yuppies, etc. - live together right in the centre of town. Pre-Covid this created quite a nice diverse vibrant mix, but with the lock-downs the worst element of the traditional working-class communities - basically comprised of the type of bored, troubled teenagers in the 12-17 age group that you see running amok in these videos - kind of took over the streets while everyone else - bar the homeless/drug addicted - stayed in. I was living and working right there during that period and had a couple of moments where I felt unsafe in my own city for the first time in my life.

Finally, the Garda are extremely demoralized and understaffed. There is next to nothing they can do to seriously punish the youngfellas who rack up dozens or even hundreds of convictions before the age of 18, and many have moved on to other careers since 2020.

Are you serious? This is absolutely related to the situation. Open your eyes. People in Dublin are rioting, they're angry.

I'm just adding to the conversation. None of this is conspiracy. It's the fall out from the tragic stabbing from today.

Just pipe down and stop insulting everyone.
You're amplifying a conspiracy theorist. I have no idea why you're being protected on this forum, you should have been banned 100 times over.

again. All you seem to do is attack me anytime I post anything. I literally posted a video of people rioting in Dublin. It's all over the news, but somehow that should get me banned?

You're a very angry person.

The absolute state of the city centre, I'd love to think half these utter scrotes would see a cell for this stuff, but in reality they're probably already supposed to be in one, or one of the 56 convictions crew.

I'm extremely fecking angry, children were stabbed today and your response is to amplify a far right conspiracy theorist, someone looking to use this tragedy to incite the violence and destruction we're witnessing. Revolting.

Christ, a Luas was set on fire and burnt out. A fecking Luas. That’s a lot of people probably unable to travel to work or whatnot tomorrow and probably all weekend now. But yeah, these young lads in sweatpants and Canada goose interests have all our best interests at heart with these “protests”, right?

Good summary. The extent by which the city centre atmosphere has soured over the last few years is kind of horrifying. It’s got to a point where I wouldn’t be happy with my teenage kids going into town and definitely wouldn’t want them crossing the river. When I was their age the city centre felt safe as houses.

In fairness there were no cars or public transport back then and horses are harmless.

The only thing stopping the right wing gaining a foothold politically is that these cretins wouldn't have a clue how to vote. If some semi-intelligent scumbag actually mobilises them, we will 100% be seeing the same stuff that is happening across Europe politically.

Theyre scumbags with an excuse to run amok. Nobody I know in Dublin is particularly angry.

pity you didn't show the same anger and energy to Israeli people slaughtered by Hamas. Didn't see fit to post anything on 7th October.

But anyway you carry on attacking everyone else for having an opposing opinion and slandering me for no reason whatsoever.

The Government has a lot to answer for, have watched the deterioration of O'Connell Street and Parnell Street over the years, it's been badly neglected, this sort of thing was bubbling under the surface for a long time.

Garda should just wade in with the batons, batter anyone who doesn't disperse, the scenes are unbelievable.

You add nothing. Your posts are vile and revolting.

How you're still able to post is beyond me.

How? Garda numbers have gone way down. People are leaving in droves. It all stems from having no space in our prisons and therefore all these cnuts with their hundreds of convictions can do whatever they want with zero repercussions, including giving dogs abuse to the guards who don’t want to put up with it anymore and leave because they’re powerless. Unless we build more prisons we are fecked.

So depressing. That area has been a dump for a while but still somehow seemed to be getting worse every time I was in. This has been coming for a while

Agreed, O’Connell street used to be a vibrant area. Parnell street was always a dodgy street though

That’s so sad to hear. Central Dublin was such a lovely place when I lived there. Vibrant, welcoming and full of life.

Sorry to hear that Pogue, you're not alone in that sentiment.

Something seems off with societies in general at the moment, a malaise or a undercurrent of grievances which are manifesting in these outbursts.

Nothing seems to make sense much more.

Would they not consider attacking government buildings rather than the local tram service and the local Gardai . Scumbags
