Anyone expected back for this? No reason not to go strong with only 2, possibly 3 games in January.

    Bayandir

    Dalot
    Varane
    Evans
    Shaw

    Mainoo
    Eriksen

    Garnacho
    Bruno
    Rashford

    Hojlund

Surely we give Amad a start in the cup, see what he can do and id give Hannibal a start too personally for either Bruno or Eriksen, not that he will ever drop Bruno though

Be interesting if there are players like mount, etc that are back for this. I'd like to see Hannibal or Gore, although the former might be looking for a loan in Jan.

He'll start a proper 11 and we'll look good and then change it in the league back to the usual shite.

People expecting changes are in for a disappointment.
It will be the strongest available XI...Will be interesting to finally see the new keeper.

Wigan sit 18th two leagues below us so could be a tight game.
I hope he play mainoo and Gore in midfield so we get a glimpse of a possible future foundation.

Onana will be at the African cup on nation by this time, it starts a few days later. ( if he actually goes) also with Amad
Onana doesn’t play until the 15th I think so he might still be able to play and Amad wasn’t selected

As bad as we are it still should be a comfortable win , although if their fans can create a hostile atmosphere the mentality midget mindset in our lads could come in to play and make it a difficult night.

Utd will have more fans there than they do.

ETH will stubbornly play what he thinks is his strongest XI, because his job is on the line and I cannot fathom how he would remain as manager if we lose to Wigan.

So I’d expect Bruno and Co to start.

I think it will be a strong team anyway.

We don't have many players that can have a clear impact so I suppose we'll have a strong team.

If we were to lose this he better be sacked before he can get back on the team bus.
If we lose this, he will keep his job.
Just recently he won Manager of the Month.
He got us 3rd place last season and a trophy.
Furthermore, due to the arrival of new bosses, they won't fire him until those new bosses have had time to assess the situation.

He could probably lose the next 3-4 games without any consequence.

All the posters above putting reguilon in their team might want to rethink that, he's gone back to Spurs.

This is a truly miserable thought.

Also I know what he achieved last season and I know what he has done this season. I for one cannot wait for him to be gone, along with several of the playing squad.

True, but nevertheless a good match to bed in our No 2 keeper before the Spurs game.
Yeah Onana has shown us all what he can do, so wave him off to the AFCON and let Bayindir have a game against Wigan before Spurs.

Give him the best chance to succeed!

If their passing is slicker than ours and they have more energy then I’ll know it’s all a wind up.
Their passing will be better than ours and they will definitely play with more energy than us.
These 2 things are a given.

It baffles me - what do these players do in training?

Let this be our salvation this season; let's go all the way to Wembley and exact revenge for the somber conclusion of last season. It would also secure a spot in Europe and generate crucial momentum heading into the next season.

Another reason, as valid as any, is that United will be involved in more matches. (For me to look at)

A good opportunity to see our back up keeper in action. Will most likely be busy.
Actually looking forward to a United game for once - we should be competitive at least!
    Doesn't seem to be happening.
Surfacing news is that Onana will play against Spurs, then fly out after the game to play for Cameroon the following day

It would seem that our #2 is not up to replacing our #1 for a few games.

Why did Utd buy him then? It truly is baffling what goes on behind the scenes at our once great club.

If Eric loses to a League One side, surely he won't keep his job?
    He will. Trust me.
It may need about 3 losses in a row, but knowing this team, they'll lose 2 games and then win the next. And the fans will love every minute of it.
When we beat Aston Villa the other day, many fans proclaimed that we turned a corner.
    I knew we hadn't.
We then lost the very next match, going back to playing poorly.

Unfortunately, the performances that you are seeing now is the finished product and even if we spend another £400M, we'll continue playing like this.
ETH needs to be removed but now is the wrong time. I'd prefer the new top brass (from Ineos), to arrive, assess what needs to change and then ETH be fired, with an appropriate replacement selected.
If ETH leaves now, I fear that Steve McLaren or Darren Fletcher will take over managerial duties, which would be an epic disaster.

Have we ever not battered Wigan 4 nil? Another record for ETH to set!
