Does this give an indication to our football direction long term? That's what we need a football style that managers and players alike will be signed to fit

Not necessarily. The CEO wouldn’t have a direct input on our footballing style or direction.
To me it most likely means that for once, the higher echelons of the club will finally be aligned, with Ineos at the Board, Berrada as CEO and they’ll probably bring in a DOF that will work with them.
So whatever football direction that will be decided by the board, they decided Berrada was the man who would be able to translate into the club/company‘s structure

But from what I understand they can’t be charged to the same degree from 2018 onwards because they’re refusing to cooperate? They have received massive charges in reply to that stance but I’m sure if the books were fully open the cnuts would be looking at 300/400 instead of the 115 now.

I gotta say, I find it hard to believe he’ll have no knowledge or any involvement in 115 charges…in the Senior positions he’s been in at Man City.

Feels a little bit odd.

I don't think the 115 charges thing will be an issue for us. They will make sure to have clauses in the contract for things such as this. A no brainer.

You're spot on but I don't know the guy that well so there's always the chance that he didn't do anything of note to begin with, successful system can contain subpar parts after all.
Maybe. But let’s at least give the new leadership to a chance to make good moves. The least we can do is give them our support until they (Hoepfully not) prove themselves as incapable as the clown family.

Strange addition but a welcome one if not for anything else but the state of Bluemoon in the past 24 hours. 88 pages of sheer panic and lunacy and still going strong. Worth it already haha

Wait, so he became COO over the time period that City have refused to hand over records for?
The under table payments to Mancini happened well before his time but I find it hard to believe any head of sponsorship couldn’t find the thread of more money incoming than what they were negotiating the least bit fishy.

This is really great. Starting at the top, getting in a proven top guy as CEO who's a football ops person, not a fecking accountant. Hopefully getting rid of Murtough and bringing people in on the scouting and negotiations side will be next.

He was promoted by City to work on the footballing side and by us tasked to work on commercial and footballing side. Surely he'd have an idea of football style direction if city were seemingly harmonious on that front (wishful thinking on my part)

I think that’s where we’re misunderstanding each other.
I’m not expecting a football man to be our CEO. I was simply pointing that to me he doesn’t fall in the category of football guys as he had no experience in the technical side of football operations.
He spent most of his career and honed his craft on the commercial side of operation. It simply means to me that the label « football man » is not the best one. JC Blanc by all accounts is very much not a football man, but proved to be a great CEO for a football company.

But by no means did I say this has any incidence on his competence or that I expect a football guy. The best CEOs I’ve worked with are generalists able to grasp the bigger picture rather than specialists of the field. It’s actually the same point I’ve been trying to make when people were bashing Arnold : him not being a football man does not equate not being a proper football CEO, his shiteness lied somewhere else.
Then you really should have made that point better in the original post in fairness.
It instead read as a snipe at not being a ex player, manager, coach. Impossible to know you were really taking aim those who slated the Arnold appointment for those reasons.

I will say for Arnold though, that he spent over a decade in a high power position at a failing/shit show Manchester United, before some bright spark deemed him worthy of a promotion.
Berrada on the other hand has spent his entire football career at Barca when they were at their very best and then at City where they were also extremely successful. On top of that, his three most recent years have been in a direct football role. He’s infinitely more qualified for the job at this point than Woodward or Arnold were.

Worst case, he gets banned from football and we find a new CEO.

Was involved in the Haaland deal..haha.
All that under the table pay to the agent and daddy.

People trying hard to give reasons why he wasn't involved in City's shady dealings. Weird behaviour that.

Isnt it the Times that said he wasn't? To be fair it was probably the elephant in the room when we hired him.

My only question is why this happened now? Why would you go from a winning club to a giant that is struggling. If it is about new adventure, fair enough.

Is there something he knows about ManCity allegations?

Some people love the challenge. Also would be a big upgrade on his current position. And united is a real club also and not a fake plastic one.

Our previous two CEOs were accountants from PWC and JP Morgan. I find it incredible that anyone can see this anything other than positive.

I think this pretty much kicks into touch all this posturing about the possibility of Murtough staying.

I'm guessing Omar isn't going to say "lets keep Murtough- he's good at powerpoints"

Atleast they brought in an experienced man to deal unlike previously where the club was treated as a charity and unqualified fecks were given countless chances to ruin its reputation. The fans on here also backed those decisions based on nothing. "Lets give them a chance" is what I read at the time.

More likely just got tired of waiting for the top job and got offered the top job at arguably the biggest club of them all, restoring United to the top table probably has more pull than most think certainly more than waiting for someone to retire or quit

That's how I see it too.
Think of it more as making a very obvious signing I guess. He’s no doubt insanely expensive but I guess it’s risk mitigation by Ineos.

Probably more a case of the standard being so low rather than this hire being so exciting.

This is great news. Maybe, just maybe "Brexit Jim" and "The Cyclist" actually do know a thing or two about instilling successful structures and cultures into a team and will shut those fecking "but but but I wanted Qataaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr" crybabies up.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Anyone worried this will be like Spurs with the Italian guy, he comes then get sanctioned?
Even if he is, I'm guessing any consequences are far enough away that he'll have played his part in putting together a good system within the club (hopefully). We can then replace him with somebody who comes into a much stronger position than what he himself is doing atm.
