Fondofbeetles is great
I think I preferred this season. The first one felt a bit as though some of the connections he was aiming for were a bit of a reach. This one was a lot more bleak though. When even Jon Ronson can't find a hint of optimism then you know we're in deep shit!Absolutely yeah, it's great.
The first season I found a bit more interesting (the origin stories of the culture wars - especially about the pro-life movement on the evangelical right being more or less manufactured and quite a recent phenomenon) but to be honest I will listen to anything Ronson does.
I'm not sure what sort of responses they were expecting when they decided to use something which has a gradient, to demonstrate something that doesn't have a gradient?
I think they were expecting responses that were less stupid than "there's no gradient in the picture" when posting a picture with a gradient?I'm not sure what sort of responses they were expecting when they decided to use something which has a gradient, to demonstrate something that doesn't have a gradient?
Make a stupid tweet, get stupid responses.I think they were expecting responses that were less stupid than "there's no gradient in the picture" when posting a picture with a gradient?
So where would you put intersex people in the dichotomy between male and female? Particularly given it is often not at all clear which sex they "should" be assigned, and it varies wildly from person to person.Make a stupid tweet, get stupid responses.
If you want a visual, imagine a Venn diagram consisting of three circles. Two of them massive and one of them less than a hundredth of their size. None of them are intersecting. So where would you put intersex people in the dichotomy between male and female? Particularly given it is often not at all clear which sex they "should" be assigned, and it varies wildly from person to person.
Ah yes, Venn diagrams. Famously not intersecting. If you want a visual, imagine a Venn diagram consisting of three circles. Two of them massive and one of them less than a hundredth of their size. None of them are intersecting.
It’s not perfect but it’s a lot closer to reality than that colour blend nonsense.
Fair! And you could definitely argue that the teeny tiny circle should intersect both the massive ones.Ah yes, Venn diagrams. Famously not intersecting.
That's where I thought you were going before I subsequently engaged snark overload.Fair! And you could definitely argue that the teeny tiny circle should intersect both the massive ones.
From my understanding intersex people are not "between sexes" it's a poor term and a confusing one that isn't used much now. Moreso DSD is used.So where would you put intersex people in the dichotomy between male and female? Particularly given it is often not at all clear which sex they "should" be assigned, and it varies wildly from person to person.
Just checked this out and it's really good, thanks for the recommendationI think I preferred this season. some of my finest early work that. have you decided which sex to force them in to? it’s vital that you make that distinction early on and then stick with it.In my basement, according to @rimaldo's guide.
I had planned on making a decision, but all this talk of gradients and Venn diagrams has confused me, maybe it's more of a 2025 job.some of my finest early work that. have you decided which sex to force them in to? it’s vital that you make that distinction early on and then stick with it.
if you want to force them to be male, you need make sure you’re always broing down with them. wake them up by making manly sounds as you storm down the stairs, shouting “ready to bro down, bro? i got you a brewski. let’s crack a cold one and talk about football and cars.” then feed them only steak on a blue plate, saying things like “salad is for wimps and pussies and we’re men!”
if you’re forcing them to be a woman. wake them up gently, then make them make you breakfast. ask them wear only pink dresses and give them a doll to raise as a child. you may lay with them but it should mostly be their choice.
the only thing you do the same with either option is make them wear a poppy at all times for are troops.
snowflake.I had planned on making a decision, but all this talk of gradients and Venn diagrams has confused me, maybe it's more of a 2025 job.
I think the point is that it's not always obvious which sex they "have". They are assigned a sex, but sometimes they might as well have been assigned the other one. A not insignificant number of intersex people end up identifying as the other gender later in life.An intersex person will still be one sex but have some of the characteristics of the other sex (hidden, undeveloped tested etc) It doesn't make them a "third sex".
I think this is so exceptionally rare but they will still be one sex but have extra markers/features of the other sex.I think the point is that it's not always obvious which sex they "have". They are assigned a sex, but sometimes they might as well have been assigned the other one. A not insignificant number of intersex people end up identifying as the other gender later in life.
It goes without saying that I'm the furthest thing from an expert on this, though. And I'd assume that includes most people in here.
