I really hate that phrase.

anyway back on topic he’s got 4 months left to show what he can do before judgement is going to happen on the squad.
It is accurate in his case. Terrible performance, terrible attitude and really he doesn't have the technical ability which is why he wasn't really thought to be the big talent coming up through the ranks. He's been overrated for years getting his numbers while United underwhelm and underperform on the pitch and his loyal followers were always there to tell us he's been harshly judged.

He's also a bit of prick beyond his carefully crafted PR image. Anyone else except him and his association with Lingard and Sancho would get him even more flack (I disagree with that but it's very likely), let alone some of these other episodes.

We should have sold him the summer before last but hopefully it's not too late to cash in and rebuild with proper footballers (or at least those that can play in a top-level system).

He needs to leave everything on the pitch tonight. This is last chance saloon for him. Does he want to knuckle down and possibly earn his place in the history books of the club or does he prefer to see his career go down the drain? The choice is his.

He was never going to excluded from a squad that only has one other fit striker but i thought he'd be on the bench and not starting for a few games. Let's hope he's ready to fight back.

Erik's post-match team talk: "Guys, go out, get drunk, make fools of yourselves. I expect to see you in training tomorrow, but if not, you'll still be playing Sunday."

Rashford runs the club. It's embarrassing.

I mean he said it was solved internally, he got punished, apologized etc. It was obvious he was gonna start, why is everyone acting like this is some kind of unexpected decision.

I’ll save my outrage for after the game. If he genuinely has trained hard and is coming back in with a point to prove, it’ll be the correct decision. Let’s see what he does on the pitch first.

Because he shouldn't be starting.

When I first saw the lineup I thought he'd not even put him on the bench, and thought "fair enough, he's sticking to trying to set some standards". Then I notice he actually starting.

takes more than one good game for me to win me over again. Not convinced he learned his lesson yet. I mean just last game he shushed his critics with that goal celebration and he went on to feck up again. We'll see what happens. We all want him to be at his best.

If it was me, I'd be expecting him to show it consistently in training and from the bench for a few weeks first. See if he's genuinely changing his attitude even when he's not instantly reinstated. Let him work for it. He might be fine tonight, but it won't continue in the long run.

That is not for fans who don't know what is happening behind the scenes and are usually too driven by emotions to decide.

This bolded part is often overlooked. He was a run-of-the-mill academy lad who benefitted from a major injury crisis, a few well-timed goals at the start of his career and a club desperate for a good news story.

People forget, if Will Keane hadn't been on loan (or injured, I forget which) Rashford wouldn't have even played against Kobenhaven. He was that far down the pecking order.

I honestly, honestly think had he not had that run of goals when he broke into the first team that he'd have ended up dropping into the Championship in his early 20s and probably ended up playing for a bottom half Premier League team for most of his career.

He's arguably a player who's built his entire reputation on roughly 40/50 good games in his career across three little purple patches and some world-class PR

Our manager is talking about setting standards and then he starts Rashford who pulled a sickie after a 12 hour drinking binge.
Standards...

Maybe he told him it's his last chance and he has to have a great match to remain in the squad, maybe it wasn't even his decision.. we don't know the reason. But yeah, starting him is surprising for sure. Wouldnt be the first time tough a manager wasnt able to do what he thinks is best. Mourinho and Rangnick obviously wanted to do certain things with the club and were not allowed to do so.
It surprises me that people act as if every decision is made by the manager and it's his fault when it's obviously not the case. Maybe Rashford truly convinced Ten Hag to give him this chance but we have no idea.

All it takes is an apology to Ten Hag and you can behave however you like, even after a season of not giving a feck. High standards set for the rest of the team

In my case, the app sent a notification "two big names return to the starting eleven". I cringed hard.

I think we’ll get a reaction with his performance tonight. He can only get better from what we’ve seen so far this season, so maybe now is the time after the events of the past week.

Is that's enough for you, then fine.
Personally I think he should have worked his way back into the team with good of the bench performances.
I don't know if that is enough, so doesn't any fan because no one knows what actually happened behind the scenes. But many act like they do.

Agreed, many of the same fans will welcome Greenwood back because we don't know all of the evidence have decided Rashford should be shot when they don't know the full story and only know what was printed in The Sun of all papers

United players of recent times have long and storied histories of training amazingly but delivering absolute shite on the pitch so I look forward to Rashford bucking the trend here.

I hope all those demanding Rashford be sold immediately aren't on another thread calling for a certain other player to be brought back from Spain in the summer.

It's another lose-lose situation for ten Hag. If he continued to not play then media and certain fans who look for any angle to have a go at the manager would get on his back for falling out with another player.
