Why is it weird to dislike Greenwood? Did you listen to the recording, and see the images?
No it’s weird for a Real Madrid player to become your favourites due to stupid shit like this. He was probably just frustrated he didn’t score a goal.

Normal behaviour at any level of the sport, attack the opponents vulnerabilities. I’d say any topic but your children is fair game on the field.

Most players have the sense to cover their mouths though.

Yeah how weird that domestic abusers get no sympathy.

Maybe he should beat Bellingham like he did his girlfriend.
I imagine Bellingham would flog the little prick. I can’t really stand either of them but Bellingham has definitely gone up in my estimation.

Sometimes people use hyperbole intentionally. I doubt the poster’s going to rush out to buy a Bellingham kit.

I don't think anyone actually thinks he's a die hard Bellingham fan, and it's obviously an exaggeration but it's still just virtue signalling. You're taking this more literally than anyone else.

You’re not taking it literally but you’re repeatedly calling it virtue signalling? That makes sense.

He could say rapist, rubish or another word, I'm not an expert lip reader like a random twitter account though.
He should say he said "mucho morro" and move on

Oh an Arsenal fan saying it doesn’t make it less weird.
Not sure any of the posters appeared even slightly wound up? Who exactly?
If him being a United fan wasn’t relevant then why did you mention it?

All of you saying that poster was virtue signalling seem wound up  why else use that kind of label in response to a throwaway comment?

2028. His contract expires in 2029 so let's throw the kitchen sink at Madrid a year before so that they're inclined to sell.

You’ll get him once he is depleted and standing on his last legs. :wenger:

I mentioned him being a fan of a side that isn’t Birmingham, Dortmund or Real Madrid and now having him as their favourite player because he may or may not have called him a name…. Did that really need spelling out?

Not sure you understand what being wound up means, certainly just saying someone is virtue signaling aint that. If anything, the posters words came across as a roll of the eyes.

Nobody in particular
I'm not one to engage in lip reading, but Getafe demanding it be filed in the match report leaves little room for interpretation. About as little room as the audio and pictures that caused Bellingham to say that.

Bellingham already had my respect as a footballer, but now he has it as a person, too. Good bloke.

As a genuine question, surely Bellingham can just say he said 'alleged r*apist' or similar and there's literally nothing anyone can do? Be like if someone tackled Messi and shouted 'tax dodger!', or Ronaldo and shouted 'botox penis enlargement!', it's just a fact.

It’s lip reading man, he can just say he said something else, charge is going nowhere.

Hm....what football rule exactly he is breaking here? It is not even important is it said to Mason or some other player; its not racist, sexist or chauvinistic remark. I get that Greenwood can sue him for insult privately but regarding football? Where trash talk (despite how morally low that trash talk is) ends and abuse, which is against football rules, starts?

Really? When?
They employ lip readers all the time to verify things, particularly with racism. The Terry case they used independent lip reading experts to verify what he said.

Think any racism case that comes up they bring them in as it's rarely caught. This obviously is not a racism case but you said 'it's just lip reading' but that doesn't mean he can't be punished (if indeed it is even punishable which I doubt it is). My point was if Bellingham has just said 'r*pist' maybe it could be punishable given he was never convicted.

Whether Bellingham said it or not, this is a taster of what it would be like if he came back to United. Hopefully for those that wanted him back this changes their views. Even if he isn't guilty (I think he is btw) the opposition fans, players and more than half of us will assume he is.

Due to Greenwood’s life choices, he’s going to have to deal with much worse than that for the rest of his career.

If he ever comes back to the Prem, he’ll get it weekly.
