Film Sex scenes: what's your stance?

Game of thrones started going down hill after they stopped the egregious sex scenes.

What's this 'we all do it' nonsense about
checkmate, liberals!

Yeah, they should film people taking shit because we all do it!

The impact of Dizzy’s death in Starship Troopers was enhanced because we’d seen Rico shag her on screen. I’m still not over it, even if he moved on pretty quickly.
He only moved on so quickly because he loved citizenship so much! Tbh her death is maybe the only sad one in the film. She is so brainwashed that her whole life is devoted to getting the approval of the dumbest guy on the planet.

It's easy to argue against no sex scenes ever in films, I haven't heard many cogent arguments for the majority if sex scenes which are just superficial.

Its a bit hypocriticalist to watch adult movies but criticize sex scenes in movies in some countries people dont want children no more which means no sex even when theyre fully developed adults because theyre scared of inflation, having kids is so expensive so adding sex scenes in movies might be helpful in that regards to rebirth their sexuality but ofcourse its not the same with your wife compared to them stars on tv but again dont be a hypocriticalist if you still enjoy the products

I was literally crying on my knees waiting for that sentence to end

¿Qué?

Are scenes with strip clubs or women being sexually exploited/objectified necessary? British gangster films starring Craig Fairbrass tend to feature alot of these.

So I am led to believe

I'm of the opinion that 95 per cent of sex scenes serve no purpose and could be simply implied. They seldom show anything new about the characters and are far from realistic even in shows trying to be realistic. What's more, they are used to coerce actresses to get their tits out and while it might be nice to see Fit Hollywood Bird's tits, I'm not entitled to them and neither is the audience.

Perhaps thirty/fourty years ago porn was hard to come by so you'd need a free softcore porn scene to get off to, but now you can easily access much better stuff.

So what's your stance?

A) they're ok as is
B) we need to ban them outright
C) fewer but more meaningful sex scenes please
D) every tv show and movie should be nothing but sex scenes
E)boue

As long as it's not wall to wall sex scenes and it's done well then I don't see the issue. Something like that one episode of Bridgerton (I only watched the first season) was absolutely ridiculous. It was like a 20 min montage of the same couple simulating sex in various locations. It just got boring.

In saying that I don't know what you are watching but it seems like there is less nudity in a lot of shows I've seen lately. And as for tits well they are just tits at the end of the day. I don't think we should be particularly prudish about one gender's nipples.

I'd also echo what others have said about violence being fine for practically all ages but anything to do with sex/nudity being heavily censored is the wrong way round.

I watch a range of series and movies from different times so I'm not exclusively watching content made in the last 4-5 years so perhaps I'm seeing a bit more nudity and sex

To me the whole question seems fundamentally pointless and arbitrary. As a writer, you tell stories about humans. What you need to show depends on the story you're telling. If you're doing Winnie the Pooh, do you need sex scenes? Probably not. If you're telling a story about the Marquis de Sade, can you do without them? Of course you can't, and why should you? It's not like they're an optional extra that you may or may not sprinkle on top of things.

And because Denise Richards became available after her boyfriend had his brains sucked out.
I really felt for that guy to be honest. "Your role in this movie is as a love interest for Denise Richards, and at one point you'll be getting your brains sucked out." "What? You'll do it for free? Excellent." He never got so much as a sniff.

Good post.

That was the show that made me question the necessity of sex scenes

Me too, they completely overkilled a great program with soft porn. Once or twice was good but every episode had to have a minimum of two five minute sex scenes.

I usually used it as a brew making period.

Doesn't bother me tbh. It's just naked skin, nothing much. Plus, spoiler, a lot of nude scenes are made by doubles and not by the actors/actresses themselves.
The one thing I agree is that most sex scenes are either too cringe or too melodramatic, when outside the movies sex is a basic instinct fueled by attraction, it doesn't have anything sacred/magic about it.

You've clearly never had sex with me, loser.

Sad news for @Sassy Colin

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-...joanna-lumley-thinks-we-should-axe-sex-scenes

why Joanna Lumley thinks we should axe sex scenes

It’s rude, distracting – and the acting equivalent of having your pants pulled down in a playground. Should we call time on them?

“The second you take your clothes off, the audience looks at you, the actor, and your attributes – what your breasts and genitals are like,” she said. “You’ve immediately lost the character you’ve built. There’s a playground element to it – pull your pants down and let’s see what you’ve got. I’d cut them altogether. They slow things down. They’re rude and horrible.”

Extreme violence is equally unnecessary. Horror is just awful, I simply can't understand why people want to deliberately scare themselves. Each to their own though.

If some people would rather watch violence and horror, rather than sex, I would say that's far more disturbing.

Take the sex and violence out of film/TV and what's left?

Like I said in my previous comment, I'd rather see consensual sex scenes than gratuitous violence. I'm a lover, not a fighter, after all :)
