Making Utd fans go blue? Thats never actually happened though has it.

During you so-called period of domination you have managed only 1 league title which came in covid affected a season where you were the only team that challanged for the title all season and you have finished above Utd as many times as theyve finished above you.
Tbf he's not wrong, mate. We're lucky that their performances didn't end up in more trophies. But City have basically been our second team for the last 5/6 years.

If you were told about this period of domination by Liverpool, 6-7 years of suffering, before it happened and how great this amazing team was, you would be utterly depressed.

The fact that it’s only been one league, one CL and a couple of domestic cups is quite funny. Especially when you consider the league wasn’t even a real season.

If this is as good at it gets for them, I am at peace with that!

They have already proven under Klopp, that when they are up against a top side, they rarely come out on top. Premier League was Covid, sole CL win was against Spurs etc…

This will be another fail

It's almost a year to the day Arsenal scored that late winner against Bournemouth and people thought the title was done.

Nothing really changes, City know what they need to do and Liverpool have to keep winning. Throw in the cups and the 'kids' will be tested.

The fact that Arsenal got the measure of Liverpool this season should give City hope they could do something at Anfield. This is anyone's title.

They are the third best side of the three but anything can happen in 11-12 matches and it’s huge for them to get through this period of injury without dropping points. They were fortunate that their injury crisis occurred during a soft part of their league schedule.

Winning the league is not just about head-to-head play but in that narrow sense I really do think they are the third best team.

I've seen them play Arsenal or City four times this season and they haven't been the better side in any of those matches. They were clearly second best at the Etihad but snatched a point, got basically dominated at the Emirates in league play, played an even draw against Arsenal at Anfield, and did a smash and grab in the FA Cup against Arsenal after being very clearly second best much of that match. Honestly, I really don't think they are anywhere near their top level of 2019-2022 and its just a testament to Klopp that he has them competing to win four trophies.

Liverpool may well have the experience and the ability to grind results consistently enough to go the distance. And it would genuinely be an amazing feat for Klopp to do that.

Honestly was more upset about our league form at the time.

You really did look pretty crap for much of that match.

Having spent several years watching Arsenal get embarrassed by Liverpool consistently, I feel pretty comfortable saying this year's vintage really doesn't have the same top level in them as Klopp's best sides. Is that really a controversial take? That doesn't mean you won't get over the line in the league and, if you do, it'll be a huge testament to Klopp. Its a little bit like how Ferguson got so much out of his teams in his last few years, even though they just weren't as good as United sides had been in the years previous.

Liverpool has every chance to prove me wrong by outplaying City next weekend at Anfield. But I'm not expecting it to happen.

Mac Allister has been dragging us through games lately. Immense player who does all the midfield things.

At least some consolation for only managing one league during the greatest ever managers reign.

Soon to be two :(
To be fair man city robbed klopp of 2 titles, just like they did in 2012 when they robbed sir alex of the prem.People need to mention man citys cheating instead of ignoring it.

I think whoever wins at Anfield next week wins the league. If Liverpool win they'll go 4 (or 7) points clear and it's hard to see where they're dropping that many points in their remaining fixtures. I hope we'll beat them but otherwise it looks like plain sailing for them.

Oh well, just need to focus on getting our house in order now to get to 21 before them. They're going to be a much worse side from next season so it's doable.

Sure. But if you're one of the many many Liverpool fans who celebrated that title win for City, I'm afraid you have fewer legs to stand on than a seal.
You'll get titles too if they are stripped of theirs as they should be.

What I know is that if Everton had been bought instead of Manchester City, there's no way I'd be rooting for them to even win a throw in against your lot, let alone titles.

Easy to say, but we'll probably never know. I never thought I'd be cheering a wonder goal by Kompany either.

You don't know how you'd react until it actually happened.

It's easy to pontificate whilst on top, but it's when 'push comes to shove' which matters more.

I know that dropping points to Everton winds me up more than dropping points to your lot.

And honestly, there's the whole blatant cheating. I don't understand the "let them win, it means nothing". It's literally ruining the sport and making it a hollow sportswashed spectacle. We've posters losing their minds about a drop ball wrongly called who are all laissez Faire about one of the biggest organized cheating endeavors in the sport.

I'm tired of watching City win the league. Would also hate seeing Liverpool get their 20th. It's all become too painful to watch while we languish in mediocrity.

It's going to be a tight one this season. Ideally Arsenal win it.

I mentioned this in my match-day thread post, but figured it's better to post it here as well, just to try and calm people down in here

-We're only two-thirds of the way through the season, there's a lot of football to be played

-Liverpool are the third best team in the league, whilst suffering from an injury crisis. I'd still have them coming third at the end of the season as every stat points towards them just being very lucky this season, so far.

-Their remaining fixtures aren't easy at all, they play City, Spurs, us, Villa, Everton, also West Ham and Fulham can be tricky fixtures for them

Yet you have some of your own on here rooting to get beat by City. The panic is just baffling to say the least.

I feel like a win against City today would be so much more important for our own season than the title race.

Also, I really don't want City to win it either. At the same time, Liverpool getting number 20 and equalling our number of titles wouldn't be a happy moment either.

I feel like Arsenal have a real chance again, just like last season, and for me they are without a doubt the best option for United fans, even though they admittedly have a generally pretty insufferable online fanbase. Also, I think it would be better for the league itself if Arsenal won in the end. They haven't won in 20 years, so it would be like having a new winner.

It is quite easy to understand. The one thing this forum has always oozed was a feeling of superiority.

That was easy to maintain during the glory years, but how do you keep laughing at Liverpool when you have won feck all for more than 10 years ?

Well, easy. Adopt City as your second team. You can still laugh at everyone as your second team is winning everything AND laugh at the actual fans of your second team as all of their trophies mean nothing.

It is a quite brilliant coping mechanism, really.

Hypothetical scenario: City are 4 points clear after 37 games played, but Liverpool and Arsenal are level on points.

Will it be in the back of everyone's mind that second place could later be awarded the title, in case City really do get severely punished with a points reduction or titles stripped?

Would be a unique and crazy scenario, but probably won't happen.

A little naughty. You'll confuse your fellow caftards who haven't bothered following the fixture list properly:

1. After City game, there's only 10 games left. Countdown mode.

2. Check the Peter's alternative league table thread.

3. Those remaining fixtures you mentioned are nearly all at home. Anfield. With it's roar. Arsenal have almost the same teams, AWAY.

The difference is at one point Everton was a great team. City never were. Everton was my number one rival growing up, not united. Then again I’m older. Anyway if Everton were doing what City are doing now it would do my head in. They would quickly be enemy number one again and there would be no way I would adopt them as a second team just to keep united at bay.

United, Villa, Everton, West Ham and Fulham are all away games.

I also back City not to lose at Anfield, just because of all the injuries you have at the moment.

Btw, Everton have Arsenal away in the last game. Imagine if they still aren't safe from relegation, but taking points off Arsenal would likely mean a Liverpool title win. That would be a crazy game for sure.

We tend to be on the losing end of those scripts (Gerrard 14, Kompany 20, countinho 22).
2019. And I was rooting for City over you in 2014, 2019, and 2022, which is kinda sad in a way. But this season, I’m not rooting for them because of the possibility that they might win four in a row and a second consecutive treble. They were the lesser evil in the aforementioned seasons. But yes, their success, even if it was gained by cheating, is still success, and could become self-sustaining. There are plenty of younger City fans. If I were ten years younger, I’d probably be a City fan because they’ve been the biggest team in the country for at least half a decade. I hate City just as much as I hate Liverpool, as they’re our city rivals and I’ve experienced much more of their success proportionately as I’m younger and started following football only in 2010 (when I was 11).

I think whoever wins at Anfield next week wins the league. If Liverpool win they'll go 4 (or 7) points clear and it's hard to see where they're dropping that many points in their remaining fixtures.
I mean, they effectively dropped points against 17th-placed Forest just yesterday but were handed the win by the ref (a happy little accident that the media will have forgotten about by this afternoon, you can be sure). If we imagined that they had played that game without a ref who chooses to ignore the rules in order to gift them the points, they would have drawn against one of the league's worst teams. No reason that can't happen again.

I suspect that the title will not be decided by the relative performances of the challengers but by curious VAR decisions and even more curious decisions by the onfield officials. I can’t remember a time when referees generally were so bad as those today
