Given the old record was 58, I'm sure Rodri iwould be ecstatic with that too.I really hope it ends at 115

I don't agree but Pep probably is the one qualified to comment on this. For me, Rodri is better now than Busquets ever was. Gonna be considered one of the best ever defensive mids.
They are very different. For me, Rodri is better now than Busquets ever was. Gonna be considered one of the best ever defensive mids.
Not really, since the difference in the two Spanish up to this point, so 50 caps is it for Rodri?, is remarkably different. Maybe Spain can turn into something over time, but I struggle to believe they'll rebuild that level of depth any time soon. But a starting XI of high quality is definitely possible, so Rodri may have his window yet.Difference is, Busquets won stuff on the international stage, too. To be fair, Rodri did win the Nations League but its not exactly the Euro's or the World Cup.
You could; however, argue that Rodri hasn't got the quality Busquets had around him back then.
Ultimately, I think that's how they (fans) could potentially differentiate between the two.
Rodri is pretty technically superb as well, while having those attributes. The way he schemes around the pitch is like Busquets except quicker and fewer weaknesses in my opinion. They are very different.
I think Busquets was technically better (and cleverer) but Rodri has the physical edge and goal threat too.
Busquets couldn't win any of the big international tournaments without Xavi or Iniesta. His last big win was the Champions League in 2015 when he was 26, while he played a part in Barcelona being overran against PSG, Roma and Liverpool in big games without the other two. Put Rodri in with those two and they're even better. But in terms of being remembered, yes it's true. Rodri is 27 though, you could probably see Spain have a chance to win one of their next three tournaments with the talent they have.Difference is, Busquets won stuff on the international stage, too. Shittier still when we finish 6th even after that. Can’t see City dropping any point besides the Spurs game, and given that Spurs might be home & dry when they play each other, it’s pretty feasible for them to win all 8.
It’s so shit to be in a situation where us somehow beating the Scousers will just let tớ City getting the unprecedented 4th in a row.
Speaking about legacy, not just Rodri - Busquets comparasion, Redondo only has 1993 Copa America in his cabinet (just 29 caps overall as well). Doubt that is the reason people remember him as one of the greatest players in his position, so if Rodri continues with this level going forward (meaning, being City best player), lack of international trophies won't be held against him.Busquets couldn't win any of the big international tournaments without Xavi or Iniesta. City has a harder schedule, when you take all competitions into account, certainly harder than Liverpool, at least.Hard to see where City drop points between now and the end of the season. Arsenal's fixtures look trickier and we have a couple I could see us having difficulty with.
City are still favourites imo.
I don't think you're watching Rodri much.I don't think you watched Busquets much
That's true, especially if Rodri wins another Champions League as well.Speaking about legacy, not just Rodri - Busquets comparasion, Redondo only has 1993 Copa America in his cabinet (just 29 caps overall as well). I don't see it but yeah forgot they still have CL and the FA Cup as well. I'd like an Arsenal City semi final where they can have a go at each other towards the tail end of the season.City has a harder schedule, when you take all competitions into account, certainly harder than Liverpool, at least.
Besides, City has Spurs left away, right?
Might well drop point there.
To be fair looking at all the sides I think Arsenal have perfected killing a game. They are incredible at controlling space and playing the positional football that is statistically the best.Hard to see where City drop points between now and the end of the season. Arsenal's fixtures look trickier and we have a couple I could see us having difficulty with.

They could have a very exhausting run to the champions league final, and a lot of these title run ins are decided by absolutely stupid dropped points somewhere along the line.Hard to see where City drop points between now and the end of the season. Arsenal's fixtures look trickier and we have a couple I could see us having difficulty with.
City are still favourites imo.
Think spurs away will be city’s toughest game. Spurs are kind of like there bogie team the last few years.Hard to see where City drop points between now and the end of the season. Arsenal's fixtures look trickier and we have a couple I could see us having difficulty with.
City are still favourites imo.
You’ve never heard of a generational talent? You and I have very different definitions of a very good player then. Odegaard is a very good player, Foden is world class and would get into any team in the world.Nah, he's a very good player in a very good system for a very good team, but he's certainly not a generational player, whatever that means.
They always struggle at Spurs, haven't scored a goal in the league there since 2018 somehow.Hard to see where City drop points between now and the end of the season. Arsenal's fixtures look trickier and we have a couple I could see us having difficulty with.
City are still favourites imo.
I agree, the kid has stagnated, a lot like our Brandon Williams.Wonder if Smith-Rowe will still be at Arsenal next season? I remember how good he was when he 'burst onto the scene'. Nowadays, he doesn't play much. At 23, he probably needs to try and find a club where he can play regularly, where he can hopefully resurrect the form he showed when he broke through.
Palace, Fulham, Leicester take your pick.I agree, the kid has stagnated, a lot like our Brandon Williams.
Smith Rowe is too good for those clubs, or to be compared to Brandon WilliamsPalace, Fulham, Leicester take your pick.
Reiss Nelson is another who has about 1 start every three months. He used to go on season loans and do o.k. Can't remember if he signed a new long term deal but he seems just happy to be a reserve.
Yeah shambles how easily they cut through us but then most teams have done it all seasonBrentford 31 shots on goal at the weekend against Man United. Tonight against Brighton a mere 5 shots on goal. I'll say no more..
It's us, not them. Would imagine most teams this season have recorded their largest number of shots against us. It certainly feels like that watching games anyway. Even in rare occasions we play well we give up too many shots. And of course Brentford goes on to play below average against Brighton. Brentford got dominated at home. 2 shots on target..
Yep, this isn't 'its their cup final' thing. We've had teams take about 20 shots against us in many games. It's the way we're set up to allow it. We don't try and keep the ball, at all. It's us, not them. Would imagine most teams this season have recorded their largest number of shots against us. It certainly feels like that watching games anyway. Even in rare occasions we play well we give up too many shots.
I was licking my lips when I saw your line up but Arteta did the right thing and he got the right result. He's a very good manager. In terms of entertainment I can't remember worse back-to-back Arsenal games since the lockdown era. I was worried by the team selection but Arteta was proven right in the end. Much tougher game on the horizon and hopefully we will be well rested for it...
Bit of both really. No question this team is their own worst enemy and opponents knows this and some take full advantage of that by bringing the proper attitude - like Brentford and many more before them. It's us, not them. Would imagine most teams this season have recorded their largest number of shots against us. It certainly feels like that watching games anyway. Even in rare occasions we play well we give up too many shots.
Both ESR and Nelson deserve more game time for their development. I hope they can get it in Arsenal.Palace, Fulham, Leicester take your pick.

They're bottom of the league for a reasonHow did Sheffield United miss those two chances?
That's true. But still. You must score there. It is harder to miss. At least the first chance. They're bottom of the league for a reason
