He's better at wingback but it might not be specifically because of him, but because Maz is terrible at wingback. Doesn't make the right runs to create space and doesn't maintain width. As of right now, I'd keep Maz at RCB and Amad at RWB. Both will be better for it.

If we have to play Amad at #10, Dalot is the least worst option for RCB (creates space, makes runs, will actually cross when he's on his right foot vs the thing he does on the left)

Yes, we looked like we were building some kind of decent attacking unit with Amad playing almost as a RW at RWB. Now we have ruined it by playing two defensive players at both wingback positions by moving him at #10. Better?

Maybe, but I also think teams are clearly adjusting the defense to his side of the pitch and ensuring he doesn’t get many 1v1s and instead daring Dalot/Bruno to do something on the opposite side because they know neither are going to be a threat in space to take on a defender.

Maz has also been disappointing in that WB role behind him.

Would like to see either Antony/Garnacho get a spot in one of the two WB roles to give us some sort of attacking support. We look completely toothless right now.

As a 10, Amad needs to be in a side that understands patterns, and that can play technical balls into the right spaces. That’s why he doesn’t shine as much in the AM role. But as a RWB, he gets more room to operate.


I think his future is at attacking mid, potentially when we have the right players around him. But for now let’s keep him at RWB.

19/20 was probably the last time. Rashford, Martial, Greenwood all got comfortable double digit G/As with Fernandes not far behind.

He’s played through ball to Rashford earlier this season and he played a through ball last game chipped through towards Bruno and Højlund. There are no through balls to be played because Højlund is no that guy mate.

Not one of his better games. I thought he struggled against Wolves as well, but this seems to reflect a broader issue with the team and the environment around our players. Too often, we see individuals being dragged down by the collective struggles. We've seen it happen with Martinez. I hope Amad doesn’t follow the same pattern.

I think more that Gordon really supports his FB, I'm not sure they specifically 'put two on him' like we used to see with Ronaldo every game. We're just used to watching Rashford, Garnacho as wide men who like to walk back and watch their FB getting roasted.

Love how you play devil's advocate to everything Amad does right and miss context entirely. All of your posts in this thread and iirc last year's performance are 'yeah but..'. The poster you're quoting didn't even say he gets a pass yet here you are telling them to criticise Amad 'equally'.

Amad was indeed mediocre, except everyone else was a level below and shite. If he's our best performing/most offensive threat player for the past 10 or so games, then yes it's also up to the other players to step up and recognise the attention he's getting. He was literally covered by 2-5 players when he got the ball and more often than not, laid it off to retain or recycle possession progressively. He was also selfish and made quite a few mistakes but still did more than most.

Just say you don't like Amad and stop with insidious comments. It's very clear you're not a fan, admit it.
