It was all looking so good when we were back to a positive goal difference.
It isn't his responsibility to bring in players, although we don't really know whose it is.
Im actually in agreement with the view that a manager should be more flexible. He should adapt and show variations. But if his ceiling is elite in this system, we should support it and stick through the pain.
Keane for me. If not sorting it out on the pitch he'd at least knock a few out in the dressing room. I feel these players need to be reminded of which club they're playing for.

It's just Groundhog Day, isn't it? United play a game, we play 343 even though we don't have the players to play in such a system, we concede, we don't look like scoring, we don't score, we're comfortably beaten, "yeah but he needs time" is repeated and then United play a few days later and the same cycle begins again. It's not working, that much is simple. Yes, I fully agree that this current crop of Manchester United players, to a man, have to be the most unlikeable, least talented and thoroughly disgraceful group of players we've had, however, they're also not the one's selecting themselves in positions that don't suit inside of formations that don't suit and with tactics that don't suit and yes, I also agree that these players also didn't suit anything that Erik Ten Hag was apparently doing during his tenure.

The thing is, there is no signs of development or signs of improvement in this tactic or style that is preferred by Amorim. The results to boot are, frankly, abysmal and the way this is going, a relegation scrap is genuinely a threat given whatever it is that Amorim is doing. Is it stubbornness? Ignorance? Arrogance because it worked at Sporting? Sheer incompetence? I just don't know.

It wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination but not this bad in terms of results. The situation is so dire that facing 20+ shots but finding a way to get a result here and there is better than this crazy stretch we're on.
We don't have the luxury of waiting anymore for a system that clearly doesn't suit this set of shit players.

He shoulders a lot of blame for that performance. In his pre match comments, he acknowledged that Newcastle play with intensity and speed. What does he do? He fields the slowest starting 11 ever. The result? We are completely overrun and create nothing - just like many of us predicted.

At this very moment, it could be applicable to the manager too. We haven't seen heaps of evidence to the contrary yet.

I don't think I'm ever going to get over how our recruitment managed to build the most one paced, slow and unathletic squad you are ever likely to see in the league that demands it the most. Add to that so many lacking in height and/or weak in the air. Who thought this would be a good idea.

Part of the new footballing structure is that Wilcox (and perhaps Berrada) will have a say on tactics and where the system is not working. Ultimately Amorim has the final say, but he would be wise to be open to input from footballing people with experience working in the PL. His system got brutally exposed today in the 1st half (missing players aside), and he needs to take more risks with perhaps Amad and Mazaroui playing the wing back positions instead of Dalot who offers nothing in the role.
Amorim doesn't have the players to play his system. We have both WB that are completely useless in attack. Dalot is shit of the left and Mazrouai isn't great moving forward. We have a striker who just isn't clinical and spends half his time wrestling the CB. If Ineos can somehow magically get in these 3 players, our form might improve immediately. It will be a struggle to watch United now as we find ourselves closer to the relegation battle than upper half of the table.
Casemiro, Eriksen, Zirkzee shouldn't play anymore full stop. Why aren't our talented youngsters playing from the youth squad? they'd give a better account than most of the plodders out there tonight.

He's come in mid season, with none of his own players and is trying to implement a system that is totally alien to this squad. There's nothing wrong with being pragmatic and trying to buy yourself some time when the odds are completely stacked against you.

To me, what we've been doing for years now, is playing pragmatic football with low/mediocre short-term success and zero long-term success.

That's why I said the starting lineup is his mistake. Mainoo should've started regardless of form. He is finding out quickly just how bad we are at the basics of football, like running and passing.

Only so many terrible performances that can be excused. The team are doing even worse under Amorim than under ETH. The performances have gotten worse instead of better the more games Amorim has had. We showed some positives with Amad at rwb. Since we changed Mazraoui there we've been awful in every game yet Amorim keeps doing it. People can say he hasn't got the players all they want but we're going to be relegated if it continues like this. If you seriously think Amorim will be allowed to get the club relegated you're delusional.

Amorim has won two leagues to Slot's one. The difference between the two is the former inherited a broken club in transition, whilst the latter was handed a club in relatively good shape.
