No, we pushed DDG out because his time was up. Two completely separate decisions.
There are more than two keepers in football.

Yes, like I said signing Onana was a very poor decision which goes back to the boneheaded idea of giving ETH carte blanche to sign his mates. We chose Onana because of his ball playing ability. Unfortunately he is poor at that anyway while also being vastly worse at shot stopping.
Currently DDG is a better keeper.
Agree. Just because Onana is so bad, doesn’t mean we should have kept DDG.No, we pushed DDG out because his time was up. Two completely separate decisions.

No.Perhaps, but he’s from the same school of chaotic goalkeeping.
No.
You had a "past it" version of him. I saw him play at Marseilles and Monaco.
Barthez was one of the best goalkeepers in the world in his prime and a fantastic shot stopper, despite his lack of height.
Onana is nowhere near his level and never will.
He can't get his feet in a position to make that jump. The keeper makes the save and the defenders should then be clearing it.He had time to take three steps backwards. He had time to take one step forward and easily catch the ball. Crap from Maguire and awful from Onana.
Defending that shot that could have led to a penalty also?
Like I said before, he is a taller version of Barthez. Unfortunatly for a GK he is also a confidence player and usually plays well when team plays good and vice versa.
He is the number 2. We need a starter.I think we are stuck with him for obvious reasons but we should get a number 2 that can compete with him.
Yes. I think we should be in the market this summer for a cheap, reliable transitional keeper who can get us through the next few seasons as we clean up our finances and other parts of the squad. I wouldn't break the bank on a big keeper signing until after that.He is the number 2. We need a starter.
Think you need to watch the second goal again.
Wow. No, he definitely could have. He was able to take three steps backwards, so one forward and a jump is doable. He can't get his feet in a position to make that jump. The keeper makes the save and the defenders should then be clearing it.
I really dont understand the hate for Barthez.No.

Barthez was one of the best goalkeepers in the world in his prime, in a stacked era, and a fantastic shot stopper despite his lack of height.

None of the saves he made was anything but bread and butter.Just watched the highlights of the game - he had some decent reflex saves but the amount of times he parried the ball back into the danger area is unacceptable.
IIRC he was great his first season and poor after that, but gets remembered primarily for the poor moments. Similar situation with Howard as well.I really dont understand the hate for Barthez.
He was nowhere near as bad for us as people seem to make him out here.
Two of those steps are him trying to regain balance, his last step is the only where he could've made that decision and stepping forward would've been the wrong one.Wow. No, he definitely could have. He was able to take three steps backwards, so one forward and a jump is doable.
And his ridiculous parries into dangerous areas are costing us almost on a weekly basis.
He’s a calamity. He had some decent moments where he more or less made me think again and decide he was good enough. Unfortunately, that was merely a purple patch.
If you think he’s good enough then by all means; you are still wrong.
There are plenty of fans who want to do the same thing this summer, and give Amorim carte blanche to bring in his old Portuguese league mates, so clearly we don't learn our lessons easily.
Firstly, the save was another questionable parry. Seondly, he needs to get up quicker and be more proactive. Two of those steps are him trying to regain balance, his last step is the only where he could've made that decision and stepping forward would've been the wrong one.
Whether or not he's good enough doesn't change whether or not he was at fault for the goal.
He’s basically Barthez.
