Final league position and points total

Arsenal (H) draw
Leicester (A) win
Forest (A) loss
City (H) draw
Newcastle (A) loss
Wolves (H) win
Bournemouth (A) loss
Brentford (A) draw
West Ham (H) win
Chelsea (A) loss
Villa (H) draw

46 points, 12th

Highest we can finish is 11th realistically. I think we will finish on around 44 points in 13th..... number 13 seems pretty fitting for this club too

We have seen more positives than negatives in the last month. The underlying numbers are good but individual errors have cost us. I believe we go on a decent run to end the season:

Arsenal (H) - D
Leicester (A) - W
Forest (A) - D
City (H) - W
Newcastle (A) - L
Wolves (H) - W
Bournemouth (A) - W
Brentford (A) - W
West Ham (H) - W
Chelsea (A) - D
Villa (H) -W

57 pts - 10th place finish and winners of the Europa League

Feck it. Really should have won that.

A little bit of confidence and a few teams to play who'll be safe or have nothing to play for and players with one eye already on the holidays, Utd could very easily win 6 or 7 of those remaining games.
Well, we can always hope.

Look at the remaining games, currently on 33 points, Palace are on 39 and I don't think Utd are catching anyone above that.

Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)
Forest (A)
City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Wolves (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Brentford (A)
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (A)
Villa (H)

How many points will Utd finish on in league?

My guess is 11th on 50pts.

Winner gets some plastic patio furniture and a speed boat.

2 down 9 to go.

37 pts with this lot left to play.

Forest (A)
City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Wolves (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Brentford (A)
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (A)
Villa (H)

International break just pops up at the right moment. Still 5 or 6 winnable games in here. Could very easily win the last 6 in a row.

Hard to see us getting too many points from our remaining games. Forest, city, Newcastle is a hideous run and Bournemouth and Brentford away are not the kind of games you expect this team to do well in. Villa, Chelsea the same.

On the other hand, we are improving and hopefully Dorgu will continue providing attacking balance like he did in his last game.

hoping we rotate a bit around Europa League games so not too bothered. if we went for it full pelt we could realistically finish 10th. more likely 12th or 13th

just hope before the Lyon game we give key players a break where possible

League is a dead rubber now that we're not getting relegated nor are we finishing in the top 7. Should we be resting players for the EL?

Doesn’t each position up the table carry substantially more prize money? Maybe I imagined that but I thought it was in the millions.

50 points - 11th place

And that's being very optimistic - woof

4 million per position as per Andy Mitten.

Expect Brentford will pick up 10 points from their last 9 games and Palace 12 from their last 10 games even with their difficult fixture list so don't think we'll finish 11th with 50 points. Not that it really matters.

Chelsea got 44 in 2022-23. We need 8 points in 9 games to beat that this season. Who really cares after that?

When you’re down in the lower half of the table, it’s very difficult to climb back up, unless you can string together a good solid run of wins.

It’s like running in treacle, because the other teams around you are all getting the same mixed bag of results.
Teams end up just jostling for position, up and down by the odd couple of places, but ultimately going nowhere.

Utd would need to win the next 4 in a row, to get into the top half and looking at the fixtures, you’d have to be brave to predict that !

.

Europe has to be the priority. so any game before the European game gets even harder.
Dont care really.. as long as the players dont look lost on the pitch.

Not at this stage. Qualifying for each further knock out stage is a lot more money..
Semi-finals qualification£3.5 million
Reaching the Europa League final£5.9 million
Winning the Europa League£5 million

And that's not counting the ticket sales from OT for the semi finals (if we get there) + guaranteed income for next season with European qualification (if we win)

Europe has to be the priority..

We will finish 11th, the same position Fergie got when he also took over in November

I just hope we can finish with a positive GD this season.

Thats shaw and casamiros wages covered for another 6 months.just need to find Mounts now.

Lyon will be a 60:40 to crash out. If we make it we can go all the way. League is dead, I say we‘ll finish 14th

I took a rough guess on the rest of the results to get an idea of where we might finish. Not ideal but things are looking up.

I don't think we will rise to the top 10, it's way too much ahead and we have a tough run of fixtures til the end of the season. Let's just hope everyone stays fit and we maybe get some back from injuries also and continue on the good form we have now.

The thing is, we have to focus on the Europa League a bit more now and hopefully get past Lyon. Everything else is a bonus and to keep the "good vibes" in the squad on, multiple defeats in a row wouldn't help the team cohesion either.

Momentum is really important in football. We should be treating every game seriously no matter how we're doing in Europa, if we get to the final then we can talk about resting players. But until then every game should be played to win with our strongest 11.

I think we'll do alright, we're starting to click.

If we don't win Europa League and assuming Premier League gets 5th Champions League place, 11th could get Conference League.

If Villa or Arsenal don't win Champions League, that drops to 10th. Though that's only applicable if they win the UCL and finish in the top 6 I believe.

If a team outside the European qualification places win the FA Cup (Palace or Preston) it drops to 9th.

If Chelsea win the Conference League and finish in the top 8, the extra Europa League place goes the next place.

All of this would also rely on Newcastle staying in the top 7 after winning the League Cup.

Still (remarkably) something (however small the prize might be) to play for in the league. I believe it could work like this...

1st - 5th (Champions League)
6th (Champions League if that's where Villa/Arsenal finish and the other side wins UCL)
7th (Europa League if Newcastle finish here )
8th (Europa League if Chelsea finish here and win Conference League)
9th (Europa League if Fulham Bournemouth Forest or City win FA Cup and the winner finishes top 9)
10th (Conference League if Spurs/United don't win Europa League or Spurs/United win UEL but finish outside top 10.
11th (Conference League if Spurs/United win Europa League and finish 10th)

A quick search yielded the results below. Simply put, aprox £3.1mill pr position in the table. Enough that it matters, but priority should still be EL, simply based on a chance of europe next season.
