The Europa League is keeping him in a job is all I can think, he'd surely be under pressure otherwise with these results. We may not win another league game this season.
We always needed someone like Ancelotti though as he is a brilliant man manager, gets more out of players that their ability should allow, experienced, tactically flexible, commands respect and would have provided a solid foundation to work from. Results can’t go on as they are as it’ll kill us financially and if Amorim can’t produce results and doesn’t win Europa I don’t see him making it past Christmas and then we’re back to square one.
I think the activity of this thread is a testament that the fans don't have such an easy time accepting it. Or what exactly do you expect? I mean, a lot of the issues aren't new ones. New are some of the injuries that crept in over time but I guess, you agree that those aren't helping the situation but make a dire situation even more dire. For what its worth, it isn't as if critical posts aren't seen. But they were never going to inspire protests or flashmobs or something along those lines. He’s had a way easier ride than Ole, Moyes, ETH and even Jose. I get he’s a likeable guy (Ole was though) but it’s ridiculous how he gets away with a free pass.
I can only think even the media have accepted us loosing half our games, just like half the Caf has.
I am sure we would believe that players can adapt. I'd expect players like Jordi Alba or Marcelo, Davies or the the portugese LB from PSG whose name escapes me right now to be able to play wingbacks. The issue is that we have talked ourselves to much into Shaw and Dalot as good fullbacks even though they lack quality in the very important attacking aspects of that role. And as we've experienced over the years, those things did have negative effects on us (at least in the sense of missing out on something) no matter what the formation was before. The reason why we need wingbacks in the first place is that we don’t believe players can necessarily adapt to a new position.
The point is that the team is only as good as the sum of its parts.Eh, I didn’t think Madrid were unreal last year, at all. And I also think too much is being made of their supposed “crisis”.
Copa del Rey final
Second in the league
Knocked out in the quarters vs a very good team
It happens
Sporting scored over 70 goals last season while only conceding 25 using this system with the correct players for it.Exactly, this is a system that a bottom 6 team in the EPL uses to try and draw and nick as many games as it can, 1-0 to survive in the Premier League, not a system that looks to attack the league and finish in the first 4/5 positions.
Even if we buy A new GK, a new CM, New RWB, New CF and new 10, there’s absolutely no guarantee that this would be significantly better, we might improve 20% so we have 27/28 pints from 22 games, that’s simply unacceptable as a Man United Coach and Omar Berrada should also lose his job with him, if we don’t see a vast improve next season, all it will take is two or three defeats in the first six or seven matches and the pressure to fire him will be too much for the board to ignore.
Possibly, but we would need 20 extra points to be in the top 4 at the moment. That's a lot to ask for.Every team has a couple of star players upfront that drag them through a season and those two above are meant to be ours on something like 300k+ a week. Change those two for two top class attackers on 200k+ a week who earn their money and we will instantly be challenging for the champions league spots which is a start.
The point is that the team is only as good as the sum of its parts.
Copa del rey final and 2nd in the league isn’t really that much to write home about considering it’s pretty much a two horse race most years and noting the quality of the rest of the league. Also, they struggled in the league stage of the Champs league.
Last season they won the league, won the champs league and won the cup, this year they are probably on course for only one due to the lack of depth of players in certain positions.
He’s been diabolically shit, 11 losses in 22 games in the league. The fan base wanted ETN out for finishing 8th and winning the fa cup, this guy has us fighting just above relegation (with the same/better squad) and apparently we couldn’t hope for better, clownshow.
Nobody cares about the Portuguese league. He didn't do anything in Europe either.Sporting scored over 70 goals last season while only conceding 25 using this system with the correct players for it.

United fans are a strange bunch. Always putting the manager on a pedestal. He’s been diabolically shit, 11 losses in 22 games in the league. 50% loss rate in the PL is absolutely dreadful, yet he needs more time?
If he’s still here come August then the season will be another write off.
The fanbase wanted Eth out for spending over half a billion on his shite Ajax players and achieving very little with it.He’s been diabolically shit, 11 losses in 22 games in the league. Have we seen any real improvements since his appointment, I know we have real problems scoring but even so, we really aren't playing any better than 6 months ago, something you would expect from a good coach.
Yes, the fanbase wanted ETH out because ETH had spent a fecking fortune and we were utterly shite. Amorim has inherited a comedy show of a squad and has had barely any backing so far in the transfer market. Patience is required, if we're still terrible come Christmas then questions will be justified but until then he gets a free pass for me.

I meant as progressing in tournaments. As for city - well who didn't this year?Believe his Sporting side beat City 4-1 this year. City are obviously not their usual selves, but it was a good result nonetheless.
Managers have gone into other premier league teams with shit teams and done better though.
And have we seen any improvement in this change of play? They don't go in seeking to change the entire way a club plays. I would also argue that we have one of the worst forward lines in the PL this season. We simply don't have a goalscorer in the squad.
The point of a manager is to get the best out of a group of players inherited primarily, this is how it is for every club in ever tier of the football league, only the CAf have this strange perception where we need buy a whole new squad for a manager before we can dream of winning a few games or dare to challenge the likes Bournemouth.Yes, the fanbase wanted ETH out because ETH had spent a fecking fortune and we were utterly shite. Instead of tanking in the league by accident we're now tanking the league on purpose, I see the value in putting his eggs in the Europa basket but he better have a better game plan than we've seen him have since hes been here but I have zero faith in him or his methods so I remain very sceptical
They would be mid table at best in the EPL even with Gykores, they would be very similar to Wolves.Sporting scored over 70 goals last season while only conceding 25 using this system with the correct players for it.
To what extent? As has been said many times since he was appointed, he is not going to be sacked, because the club wants to back him and understand the circumstances he is in. I know that’ll be disappointing to many, but he isn’t going anywhere.
Neither of them would entertain playing dead ball for Ruben Amorim! What if we sign Kane and Mbappe and still average a point a game. Then what ?
Is that too much to ask? Or am I terrible fan for wanting my team to have the best chance of winning?Did you want us to play a full strength team today so we stood a better chance of winning?
Remember the season when Guardiola won the league without a recognized striker up front before they signed Haaland? And tweaked his system to accommodate Haaland and won the league again? Good managers apparently adapt to the players they have and don't rigidly stick to a single system. Who knew.
Then why keep themHe's losing for the reasons that have already been discussed ad nauseum earlier in this and other threads. His #9 isn't scoring goals, which is subervting our attacks and preventing us from being effective in the final 3rd. He is stuck with Hojlund this year. If Hojlund isn't up for the job, then the entire team will suffer since Zirkzee isn't a goal scorer either.
Read a stat its the 2nd Belarus division where the most own goals are scored per game. So technically you dont need to score yourselves to win games over there. But I really doubt any club from those shores could afford Rubens wage demands. We'd meme the shit out of that statement if it came from a rival's manager
They would be mid table at best in the EPL even with Gykores, they would be very similar to Wolves.
Preserving player fitness is paramount at this point, so obviously that means playing less starters and more kids. Not sure if that could logically be construed as "tanking the league", as much as a strategic necessity to maximize our chances of CL qualification.
Why change the entire way? Amorim must realize that his job is to win games, then he can focus on the style. There is no guarantee that this suffering will lead to something better down the road. And why on earth didn't he bring in a striker on loan in January after losing Rashford? They don't go in seeking to change the entire way a club plays. I would also argue that we have one of the worst forward lines in the PL this season. We simply don't have a goalscorer in the squad.
He has done the sameI see Bilbao resting players for the Europa League and I’m confused as to why Amorim won’t do the same. Play the fecking kids - the league is over.
Taking Hojlund out of the firing line might do him some good. Taking Maz out and playing Evans would surely be beneficial. Maybe even playing Mount over Garnacho since one would expect him to start games now.
Then why keep them
Both in January when he could have swapped at least one out and got a CF in?
