Matheus Cunha | Deal close with United (Sky Sports)

Olise, Raphinha, Rodrygo, Jesus, on ~250k p/w
Saka, Williams brothers on ~200k p/w (Saka def deserves more)
Madison, Martinelli, Son on 170-200k p/w
Gordon, Palmer, Vardy, Chiesa, Jota on ~150k p/w
Solanke, Jackson, Eze ~100k p/w

Make of that what you will.

Star player wage under INEOS for players like Bruno seems to be 300k p/w. I doubt many of our players will make that. 180k p/w for a first team attacker seems to be where we land these days.. I don't know how this plays into other contracts like Delap this year.

Generally INEOS are pretty stingy, so I don't think they'll make huge mistakes with wages but 160k p/w putting him in line with a guy like Gordon seems like an appropriate wage for me.

He'll be hoping United win the Europa then...won't want to start with a 25% reduction before he even kicks a ball.

Scholes will always be respected for his on field stuff. His punditry can be taken with a grain of salt. You can tell he’s still chuffed if the team does well

100% this. Love him as a player, hate him as a pundit. He's just so fecking miserable.

Isn't he on 90k and that is with the new deal/extension he signed with Wolves, do we really need to be doubling his wages to get this over the line.
We do when City and other PL teams with guaranteed CL football to offer him are also interested, just cause the player favours United, we still need to offer fair rate of pay.

Only one journalist say his current salary is 150K at the moment and that is Laurie Whitwell
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6270254/2025/04/11/manchester-united-transfers-delap-cunha/

But 2 other say he is on 90k per week, Jamie Jackson and Samuel Luckhurst

While Mike Mcgrath and John Percy think doubling his salary will put him in the 200k bracket.

I think Whitwell is wrong

I'd choose to believe Whitwell over the other two clowns

My dad is the father of data analytics. Why he called my sister that I’ll never know.

Well we definitely aren't paying him £300k a week.

Then doubling his wages is not possible and he will not get more than 200k.
He will get a big signing on fee though. There’s a reason why Zlatan was moving around everywhere at one stage, and it wasn’t because clubs were offering much more wages.

It doesn't, at least if the release clause reports are true.
Exactly. I am not as sold on this transfer as most here but what say should Mendes have if the release clause is met. Cunha isn’t even a Mendes client.

Makes me itchy(er).

He can create something out of nowhere. He plays with such a confidence, 2 backheel passes, one to set Ait Nouri for his woodwork shot.

Hmmm. Whitwell or… dumb and dumber?

Tough choice.

He was unlucky not to score that. His movement has been great and he should have an assist too.

Please show me where you're getting the data for open play XG for all these players, because you keep citing XG numbers that include set pieces/penalties.

I'm literally a data analyst who works in football recruitment so I can say with full confidence I know far more than both of you, and will happily bet any amount of money on it.
Oh great we’ve reached the “my Xg is bigger than yours”

Why don’t you all bore off

Just got back from the game, what a very odd bunch of supporters the city lot are, I was on level 3 right on the end right by them, I upset a few saying they’ll forever be in United shadow, it didn’t go down well.

Anyway, back to the subject…I thought Cunha had one of his quieter games today to be honest, save for his strike against the post out of nothing.

He was quieter but as you say, still managed a moment of magic that almost produced a cracking goal.

Yeah he has that in him, he will do nothing for 10 minutes then go on a ridiculous run and produce a goal or an assist.

One thing I’ll say which I’m not sure has been mentioned is for all his spats he’s had this season he is a very very popular member of the dressing room, all the players seem to love him, being a wolves fan we see a lot of press of the players and he always seems to be at the centre of their get togethers

Do you think he’d be good for us? Do you think the weight of the red shirt would affect him?

Promote this one.

Had a great pass as well where he played someone from the right through.

I do yes, I think some people react to the people around them and I think Cunha is that type of player, the attacking players in the United squad will help him come out of his shell.

Don’t get me wrong there will be times when you will be pulling your hair out with him because he can come across as lazy but he’s not, he just won’t chase the ball all game but he will then suddenly explode and have you off your seat with some brilliance.

I think he’s reached his ceiling with us and he’s as big as he can get but given the correct platform he will get better and better, I just hope it’s united and not Liverpool, Arsenal or City, he should look closely at Neto who went to Chelsea and IMO stagnated.

Is this some kind of weird flex or inside joke?

This is exactly what I've been saying. Many think that having an intense character or being hot headed equates having bad character but as our history should have thought them, it can have positive effects among your teammates. Players like Cunha can be passionate when it comes to defending themselves and their teammates which really helps in the dressing room. Cantona had that effect when he came as not only did he have the ability to drag the team to victory when needed, character meant his teammate's could also count on him to defend them even off the pitch.
