Erik ten Hag | Bayer Leverkusen Manager

I despise him,not because he bought turds with with record fees, sign mount for £55M,with less one tear left fir him to be a free agent.

I despise him because something is fishy with those transfers Hojlund changed his Agency to SEG where ETH son works who 'coincidentally' represent ETH.
What is it you think Højlund switching agency indicates? Come on, spell it out.

Some of guys have such an irrational dislike for someone who clearly did their best, had to deal with Ronaldo, won trophies but ultimately wasn’t good enough.

he set us back so much and wasted time and money, it's not irrational. you could say Woodward did their best, too

Nobody in the past 10+ years has gone to United and not looked shit sooner rather than later.

That's true for the majority of clubs though. The vast majority of football managers get sacked from their position rather than leave.

I don't hate Ten Hag at all, I don't even dislike him. But he did a lot of things at United that contributed massively to where we currently find ourselves.

Yeah I saw a quote from Brian Brobbey recently that didn't exactly dispel perceptions of Ten Hag being shady as shit.
That’s unbelievable if true, and the nature of his shocking player recruitment should be looked into if theirs a clear conflict of interest

He could end up at Juventus. He needs another big job to restore his reputation.

So you dislike Ole and Mou just as much I assume?
Dude, why don’t you get some perspective?

Ole and Jose spent 90 million per annum on average but this dutch fraud wasted close to 600 million in 3 years.

I don’t hate anyone associated with our club but this guy wasted so much money and largely responsible for our todays situation

Imagine if we gave that 600M to Ralf or a proper sports director

Ivsaid it's shady if it's not shady enough for you.

Is this quote from Brian Brobbey shady enough for you?

"Erik ten Hag called me and said that at United, my agent would get millions of Euros and I could earn a multiple of my Ajax salary."-

Embezzlement. To me the whole transfer actually sounds like Ten Hag and his agent embezzled a massive amount of Manchester United money. I know it's crazy but that's what it sounds like.
Obviously, executives of the club okayed the transfer so we don't really have much to complain about.

Manager tells player they will earn more in the PL, so shady

I really wish someone find the proofs of all his shady deals (if we could) and lock him up in jail, that guy deserves it for the list of transfers happened under him.

I know we are utterly stupid these days, I still hope we are not hopeless stupid though.

Edit: it also seems we are Conte 2.0 bound again.

I know. Every Juve fan wants Conte or Kiopp.

It is very odd to see how many are willing to defend Ten Hag and his failures at our club. I don't remember that sympathy when he was removed.
The toxic atmosphere in his last months was tangible and I had the impression that there was huge relief when he was gone. Reading through the last pages is so strange.

I'd be seriously interested in an insider view of the situation whether it be a documentary or a memoir or anything really of what happened between his first and second seasons and just what was going on inside his head.

He came in, tried to implement a different style and saw it wouldn't work off the bat and switched to a more practical approach that saw relatively speaking decent success and bar that abysmal result at anfield it seemed to be going well.

And then he went batshit crazy the following season.

How many of the signings made by Manchester United in the period Erik ten Hag was manager had SEG as agent? Come now, it’s not that uncommon for a player and a manager to share an agent. The fact that his son works there shouldn’t really factor into it. He’s a lowly analyst, not an actual agent.

Look, I’m not a fan of Erik ten Hag and the transfers he made, most of which I think were due to poor process. But accusing him of embezzlement because he shares an agent with a player is stretching it too far. Most agent business seem to significantly more shady than that. If you can dig up some meaningful evidence beyond hearsay I’m all ears. This kind of thing surely happens from time to time, but the evidence you’ve presented so far is just too flimsy.

Never understood why he did such a sharp U-turn on tactics compared to Ajax.
We hired him for those tactics and he just abandoned them.

Did we? I'm not convinced the club had much of a plan beyond "let's hire the biggest name we can feasibly attract".

Good post..Its ironic that Ajax had its best season in ages with a coach that is so anti-Ajax football wise to begin with.. his Utrecht days show his true ideas and philosophy.. Ten Hag is a good coach but massively benefited from the club structure and the foundations left from Peter Bosz as playstyle and personnel..
Foundations from Overmars and Bosz, more specifically.

Even if the clowns couldn't run the circus they must have been impressed by his Ajax tactics.
It'd be like hiring him to manage the team and then giving him a broom to sweep the stadium.

Look at the changes he made at Ajax, not at the resulting tactics.

Ajax under Bosz -> Ajax under ETH -> United under ETH looks like a pretty natural evolution if you watch all three play.

ETH was never really an example of classic Ajax style, he always stood for a much more direct and transitional approach.

I think he is poor and inherited an Ajax generation with some excellent players and one which were coached well prior to his arrival.

His United set up was a nonsensical mess, but if there is one thing United have shown post-Ferguson, they can still win trophies given the chance, whether the coach is in the way or not.

Only Ole couldn’t manage a trophy and he was a complete novice with no real skills outside of his relaxed attitude to discipline and feel good vibes.

Everyone else has won a trophy in spite of themselves and nobody had the help that Ten Hag had.

He would fail horribly after someone like Alonso at Leverkusen, I don’t even think he would last the season. They don’t have that many top players, and his system would make them look daft.

He didn't just share an agent with a player.
His agent whose agency also employs Ten Hag's son IIRC pushed to take over Hojlund as a client just in time to facilitate a 80m € transfer to Ten Hag's United, a transfer fee which we can all agree on is just fecking nuts and which will obviously have brought the agency a massive fee. The agent also negotiated on United's behalf with Atalanta so he was basically dishing that fee out on himself.
There's lots of shady shit about that transfer and how Ten Hag used United money in it.

Eh. He did good with United in season one, then had a pretty clear idea of what he wanted to do in year two and injuries blew that idea up before he could try it out. His biggest flaw at United was squad building, and that's not gonna be an issue elsewhere. He likely also won't be under some delusion that the team needs to play a certain way to keep the fans happy

It's genuinely possible that this is a case of "everything United touch turns to shite". We'll see. The donut formation was really fecking hilarious, I hope he brings it back wherever he goes

Manager tells player they will earn more in the PL, so shady
Managers sell their/or the club's project to a pospective player,or tell the player how he us going to use or bring out the best out of the player.

But ETH Sold ££££ to Brobbey and his agent. And that is not shady to you?

As did the others. Each manager spent more and more than the one before them, all failed to varying degrees.

They all wasted stupid amounts, most bought mercenaries and guys who lasted 2-3 seasons tops. Will be interesting to see once things settle who actually spent the most as the majority of ETH’s names have at least least some value as he didn’t go for 30+ year olds for the most part.

Financial incentive is about the most normal enticement you can find to get someone to join your club. How many players have we tried to tempt throughout the years with a pay rise? That’s not the least bit shady to me.

Managers always also include the fact that a bigger club means more money don’t be silly. You do not just sell a project alone, players don’t move to bigger clubs to play for free

In any other industry this would be an enormous conflict of interest, possibly even rising to the point of criminal charges.
