There is the sum of zero players that can competently pass the ball at utd. If you let that sink in, you'll realise how impossible a job it is for Amorim. Anyone who watched that half cannot possibly come to any other conclusions.
I agree. But why the feck he was ok with signing Dorgu then? He is another one who is major problem for keeping possession .

Give Mantato 20 minutes if Hojlund hasn't done anything by then, the element of surprise !

Nervous second half if we concede early. Don’t get why the passing is so bad on professionals that get paid thousands. Sunday league players pass better

It's just the same thing we have seen for years really isn't it. Any half decent press makes us incredibly nervous.

Amad would he a big help just purely for press resistance to calm things down.

    The technical floor is hilarious.

Lindelof plays a back pass to Onana and hits it the other side of him.
Maguire passes to no one and results in a goal.
Hojlund only has to touch the ball to keep it in play but he trips over his own feet and it goes out.

    Same shit, different game.

Basic technical stuff that Championship players don't f**k up.

There’s a few issues through the team, the keeper being a clear one but my god the biggest is Hojlund. It honestly feels like playing with ten men at this stage. His confidence is shot to pieces and he’s regressed so much it’s actually insane. Anybody up there ahead of him will be better at this stage.

Who said anything about wingers? You mentioned his age.. age is not an issue here. It's his finishing, dribbling and decision making.

Well that his position and age is a massive factor in finishing, dribbling and decision making.

There are two attacking players in Europe that are more effective at his age or younger so maybe stop talking nonsense.

I want to think we can't lose the tie from this position but we've sunk so low the past decade I only wonder if there are depths we haven't fallen yet

Wouldn’t say undeserved. They’ve looked more sharper and aggressive than we have. We can’t keep possession for more than a minute. I worried about getting complacent after our first leg lead and it’s what we’ve been so far.

We’ve had as many or better chances.

Good: Bilbao are vulnerable at the back. One moment and its game over at 1:1 so you can switch to Premierleague darts.
Bad: United dont control the game. Bilbao scoring the second and it would get a bit tense.

They look crap but we look scared to go forward. Show some backbone and put them in their place, they're naff.

That's easy to say, these players will be aware that they usually have to create a boat load of chances until the likes of Garnacho and Hojlund ever manage to score one.

It's the same reason Lyon and now Bilbao are so confident, they can throw men forward and expect us to waste the few good chances we will create.

Get Shaw for Lindelof and push Yoro to the right and I'll be more calm at the back.

Garnacho should've just rounded the keeper. Had the run, had the speed, was going across the defender's path. Simple, yet he chose the daftest option, of course.

I want to blame Garnacho for the misses, but he made such good runs which you never see Hojlund does.

Maguire is the culprit for that goal. Hope he redeem himself by keeping the defence tight in the 2nd half.

Hojlund.....can we replace this man asap?

Part of the reason he makes runs Hojlund doesn't is because the later is the one that's dropping to create it in the first place.

Hojlund has been bad but conversely Garnacho is not exactly creating anything progressive with his dribbling or passing. Bruno is doing hollywood first time loft balls on the edge of the box and you're not getting consistent passing or build up play from Garnacho or Dorgu. It's shitshow all around.

Why did TNT have to say that "no club has overturned a 3 goal deficit in the Europa League", we love breaking all the wrong records.

Just can't take chances and it is so frustrating.

We don't back each other because of it.

One goal and we're gravy but can definitely see us being turned over Coventry style.

That's our shape when in defense. Wingbacks are in attacking positions when we have the ball in the middle and final third.

It’s not just the shape. The players are defenders. Whether you tell them to play forward when we have the ball, that doesn’t give them any attacking quality. Unfortunately, the construction of our team is such that our front three is basically a 9 with a left back and a right back either side of him. It takes far more attempts than it should do to get the necessary quality to make a difference. Dorgu or Mazraoui may eventually get the pass right once after 10 attempts, but if we actually have forwards in forward positions instead, perhaps that cross is better first time.

Our players don't know how to be in a comfortable position, do they?

This has been the case since Ole's time. We het praised in the press, get ready for the boys to drop a clanger next game, we have a comfortable lead in a tie, same thing.

It just feels like in a favourable position, our players do not naturally stay switched on.

We seem to switch on when in trouble as evidenced by the fact that we only started attacking after conceding, and even then, so inconsistent in key moments. We need a couple of senior players in this attack.

We're in serious trouble if we dont score next. Ref is putting on a show to the millions watching to tell them he won't be intimated by a home crowd and giving everything the opposite way. Some of those fouls not given were just hard to fathom, and mazraoui yellow just absurd.

But all that said, it's one the most pitiful big game performances ive ever seen in a half.

Let’s hope he gives the side a hairdryer treatment in dressing room. Even if we somehow make the final, does anyone have any confidence we can win?

Yeah. And after the game, there will be posts in Dorgu's performance thread saying how bad he is and how he contributes nothing.
It was a decent pass but a better technician would be creating far more chances than he is given how much space he has

Or maybe Harry Maguire shouldn't play that absolute hospital pass when there's a simple pass back to keeper available...
Yeah goal is mostly on Maguire. It's a shame as it was mostly a solid half other than that. Defensive mistake to concede a goal and terrible finishing, otherwise we'd have scored a few. This way we can still be worried going into 2nd half.

Or maybe Harry Maguire shouldn't play that absolute hospital pass when there's a simple pass back to keeper available...
Both things can be true. Was saying to my other half that most keepers save that. As usual his technique is poor, and savage points out that he goes with two hands. Check out the saves from yesterday’s game, one handed - because you have much more reach. Poor goalkeeping fundamentals.

This coach radiates negativity your 0-3 up and he plays 5221, Jesus surely we can’t let this continue next season, we just can’t keep this guy next season, their whole attacking Unit has not travelled, I’m genuinely starting to detest our coach, go 3421 attacking kill the tie, he’s playing to try and not lose 0-3 seriously we need to bin 5221 system or bin Ruben, someone at the club needs to tell him 5 defenders and 2 CDM’s can no longer be tolerated at old Trafford ever again!

Have you watched the game? Dorgu has been our biggest threat going forward. Yet you describe him as part of a defensive 5 as if we’re just sitting back. Just bad faith arguments.

It's nothing but Maguire and the midfield's fault. It is an excellent finish. TNT are determined to do anything but blame Maguire.
They do it every game, last night any time Lewis Skelly or Rice did something good they waxed lyrical about it, then shut up completely when they lost the ball in bad areas or made mistakes.

We don't need to change much, just stay solid with no mistakes at both ends. Hopefully we can take one of the chances that should come as the clock runs down.
If they get one bring Amad on immediately

Practically the same team that won 0-3 to Bilbao so that's a weak argument you have there. Real issue is that majority of players playing with tails between their legs, which explains sloppy passing and even sloppier finishing. Two good subs will change the game for the better. Need better ball controllers like Amad to disrupt Bilbao's defensive shape.
3-0 against 10 men, we would have lost that game had it stayed 11 x 11, we struggled to keep the ball for more than 2 passes and had all the luck on our side, no need to delude ourselves

2 much more complicated shots were saved with one hand, Sommer v Yamal, and Donaruma last night v Saka. Onana goes with both hands, gets fingertips on the shot. Something tells me that he had to go with 1 hand. It just didn't look natural to go with both hands.

As critical as anyone on Amorim, but that's a bit over the top
I’m not so sure it is to be honest. Even against the relegation teams I remember we could/should have drawn against Ipswich, Southampton out played us for a lot of one of the games. The EL run in the knock outs we’ve had some very fortunate decisions. I’m happy we did, but imo we’ve been lucky to win a lot of them and this performance is no different to a large percentage of this season.
