Garnacho (Out) | Amorim tells him to find new club (Athletic)

I would prefer to keep him, I like his directness and pace. Rather Utd sold outside PL if he has to go to free up funds.

I understand the disappointment of not starting, but feck me he misses so many chances, it’s not like he was in great form.

He is a massive whiner and thinks he is better than he is. Bad combo, need less of this type of personality in the squad. Sell.

There is a lot of reasons I can sympathize with on why he would want to leave. This is not one of them: Player and representatives not happy with his reduced role in the Europa League final or how it was handled.

He should've started, and if he didn't, he should've come on earlier than he did, but lets not act like Brazilian Ronaldo was dropped here so Macheda can start.

One thing I like about him is his tenacity, he does keep trying over and over. I don’t rate him as a tricky winger to take people on, but that winger who can sneak in behind and get into good positions he’s great at.

I’m just worried he will finally put his game together after we sell him.

he was always gonna leave in my opinion

he doesn't quite fit the system and he's one of the only ones we'd get decent money for

Said it in his player thread but he creates too much unnecessary noise around the club. It's not the first time he or his brother have mouthed off. He's not good enough to make it worth it.

He's entitled to be pissed off, but we're also entitled to expect more from him if he's going to act like this. It's a good move for all parties and wish him well - unless he goes Chelsea.

I've flip flopped about whether we should sell him or not all season... and now, well now I just don't give a toss.

Sell him, dont' sell him, who cares.

Missed a sitter in in the quarter final and then another in the semi final when both goals were needed. I like him but think he's only good enough to be a squad option impact sub for a team with top 5 aspirations at this stage in his career and you can tell by his attitude over the years he thinks that's beneath him.

You just know he would sit on the bench with a face like a slapped arse if he stayed next season and was behind Cunha and Amad who are both levels above him at the moment.

Was already likely before but I predicted he’d throw a strop if benched for the final and it happened. Very good player, bags of potential, but quite an ego too by the sounds of things.

Hope we get a good fee.

It doesn’t help when your manager decides to slag you off to the press for missing a chance in a comfortable win.
If you look at the context and the question itself it's not remotely damaging.
Also happened after Garnacho started mouthing off about only playing 20 minutes openly to the press.

Honestly if we have players who are this thin skinned they can feck off. I'm not asking for stone cold managers like Jose but even top managers dig underperforming players out and Garnacho has been chronically dogshite this season.

He is made for warmer weather and football less physical. Cash in and buy some muscle instead. We need that, not blond hair and whining.

This is what happens when you surround yourself with people who won't tell you that haircut and those teeth were a bad idea.

Is he right to feel this way? Maybe but he has an utter shit mentality. Age 20 and feels pretty entitled.
He has every right to feel aggrieved. Its running to the press to express it that is the ridiculous move. I expect Amorim will prefer him gong. He is clearly the type of player who will never do well in a rotation environment.

While I get it, better players than him haven't started finals for us and not kicked up a fuss. Berbatov springs to mind.

There's a bit of a circus around him, but the lad is 20, playing in a mess of a system, in a team that doesn't seem to be coached properly and the manager threw him under the bus after sticking with a player who showed less in 70mins than Garna did in 20mins.

Bye. He is a limited 6.5/10 player and won‘t help us in the physical mid table battle we face the next 2-3 Seasons.

I’m not really comfortable with selling promising young players for a “vision” that currently has us just above relegation

time will tell

Hard to be too attached to any player in this sqaud, and we need to sell someone of high value so might as well be him if he's unhappy.

Garnacho isn't being sold because he doesn't fit into a "vision". He's being sold because he's weak, petulant, inconsistent technically, has poor decision making and can't finish.

If we get can sell him for the same kind of money we're getting Cunha for, we'll have a direct upgrade in every way. Garnacho just has too many holes in his game to make it at the very top level.

Absolutely right to feel disappointed and even angered at the decision to bench him on Wednesday. I would have started him on the bench, but you want someone that wants to play.
Equally appalling that he and his entourage would go to the press with it and not speak to the manager man to man.

I would have no problem with selling Garnacho, I have been one of his biggest critics but the fact of the matter is that aside from Bruno and Amad, we don’t have anyone in the squad that has that X factor, and I have zero belief in our recruitment team to be able to actually sign someone better for us then Garnacho currently performs.

He’s definitely got an ego and entitlement to him which befits a world class player. A shame his performances aren’t equal (at the moment)

On balance, I’d say get rid, a fee north of 65m should do it and hope he doesn’t kick on and become sensational. He might have it in him but probably a risk worth taking. Does not fit Amorim’s ideology and would be wasted here id imagine

Fecking hell you’d think he was prime Ronaldo the way he’s going on. He ain’t all that good, christ. There’s an argument he should have started the final, but it wasn’t some grand omission. Did feck all when he came on anyway. So many modern footballers are dislikable aren’t they.

I agree but I think, you issed a vital part - he is a sellable asset who will garner a bit of attention in the market. The opportunity to bring in a few funds for a player, that has a bit of potential in the right setup but a setup we can't/don't want to stick to is a pragmatic thing to do. There is a useful player in there, but I don't think, we will be able to bring it out of him given our issues as a team.

A player who thinks he is better than he is in real, or bigger than the club, is never gonna reach his full potential. I think he must be sold as long as his value is high. If he shines somewhere else, great for him.

There have been murmurings of Garnacho and Mainoo exits all throughout Amorim’s tenure. Ultimately, I don’t believe this system/vision is maximising the potential of our young players.

Garnacho having poor decision-making being inconsistent technically and in terms of end product is expected. He’s a young player - form and output will fluctuate. I do believe he has qualities and has had periods of good form - that justify me being reticent about his exit.

Cunha is like 6 years older than Garnacho - one would hope he’s at a more advanced development stage.

Besides, my stance isn’t up for debate - I’ll reiterate - I’m not really comfortable with selling promising young players for a “vision” that currently has us just above relegation

Not professional enough yet. Another who seems to look to his family rather than be mentored by his manager. Shame, he's exciting at times but hasn't shown enough to make me wholly disappointed.
