Bruno Fernandes Out? | Staying at Man United

Delighted hes staying. I only wish the manager plays 433 where Bruno can really shine in the cm position.

Would be perfect if we were playing 4-2-3-1, if we’re getting Mbeumo then it’s just not a natural fit at CM in that formation in my opinion. You need a steadier player, not someone who loses the ball every few minutes and plays like a CAM.

The Anti Bruno crowd are weird. We barely scored any goals last season and yet they want to take away our top scorer and main creative force?

You can’t be a centre mid and give the ball away as much as he does, never mind in a 2, it’s really that simple, it’s going to be a complete disaster

I thought Amorim's system was two 6's and two 10's? Interesting that he is deviating. Will be interesting to see what the plan is. I think maybe a pure 6 like Hjulmand might be best. Hjulmand + Gykores please

People forget we're still bereft of quality up front, we haven't signed Mbuemo and Cunha could flop.

Weird reaction seeing people disappointed by this as the club aren't guaranteed to bring in someone better. In fact, getting worse is more likely.

If this isn’t indicative of the modern football fan I don’t know. All we ever want is shiny new toys
No, it says that the fan is prioritizing the club over a player. If they believe it disrupts our ability to get a high class midfield (2 players), then they are not just slinging hate for a loyal player.

If he stays, I assume Romano's tweet isn't a cryptic as people are making out, then surely Bruno's legend is secured at Utd. The man's been an absolute machine for us when everything else in & around the club has been utter chaos.

Think this will put an end to us signing a midfielder this window. Gyökeres and a keeper to go with Cunha and Mbeumo would do nicely.

Next summer we can sign a partner for Heaven and Yoro, in addition to sorting out the midfield.

Yeah, I think that might be true. I was just thinking what would our next move be if we get Mbuemo alongside Cunha and I can only see us getting another CM if we move on Casemiro. The positions we need after those two are, as you say, a striker and keeper. We likely need a RWB and CM but theres only so much will will do in one window.

I imagine that outside of clearing out Sancho, Rashford, Antony and (hopefully) Casemiro (potentially Garnacho) we won't be able to do much more this summer.

Honestly, I think that a keeper is more of a priority than a striker right now. I think Mbuemo and Cunha will give us much more attacking bite and Obi and Hojlund will be able to come up with enough goals in a team thats functional. Depends what we are expecting next season? Top 8? Top 4/5? Who knows.

If he stays and is being shifted to CM then it’s paramount we get the pairing right. Casemiro and Ugarte don’t fill me with confidence long term to cover his game. Needs a prime Toure or Kante type next to him. Who are we even linked to?

It's a lazy narrative, his short and medium range pass completion is actually around the likes of Ederson and higher than Wharton. Players who most here are clamouring for us to sign. He might force it occasionally but he isn't losing the ball more than others.

Then you see people saying he's not defensively good enough but he's in the top 70th percentile for tackling as a midfielder.

I really question how much people are even watching our games.

Gyokeres
Cunha-Mbuemo
Dorgu - Hjulmand - Bruno - Amad
Martinez - De Ligt - Yoro
Keeper with hands & brain

Looks like a massive improvement to me.

Hjulmand any good and would he adapt to the PL?
He received a fair amount of interest from Arsenal and United in the past.

He's no longer going to be our top scorer and CM is not a position where you typically get loads of assists from unless you are still playing loads of risky passes.

Bruno has shown in his time here than when he has less goals and assists he's not had good seasons. He's at his best when he's the focal point of all attacks and can make final passes and shoot without restriction. That is not the role of a CM.

This isn’t football manager we can’t buy everyone. Who’s to say it will be reinvested properly if he went???

We still have rashford, sancho, antony and alvaro money to come through. That’s more than enough for a CM and a ST.

Bruno is literally our most creative player.

I have zero faith in Ineos to actually spent money well, so I am very happy Bruno is staying. our best player by some margin

Toure was a lazy fecker. Agreed in general, though.

There's more to playing CM in a midfield 2 than pass completion, this is why stats only tell half the story.

He's not very press resistant and treats the ball like hot coals when under pressure which leads to situations like the EL final which are mistakes that are extremely costly. He doesn't have the possession or technical skillset to play the position.

If we are going to keep him he needs to play further up the pitch where you make best use of his skillset. If we start with him as CM next season we will be just as dysfunctional.

Mbemo (tbc) and Cunha are both quality signing that we didn't make under the last management

He gave away the ball at key times in the Europa League final which cost the team. He’s good enough to pass the ball but it’s the discipline to do it, can he resist going for a killer ball when it’s not on? I’ve seen him for years now, he struggles with that. And he gets stuck in but I wouldn’t say he’s good positionally for a deep midfielder.

Just when I thought I couldn't love Bruno more.
Feck the Saudi and their sportwashing, Bruno is a red!
