Best game indeed, he was a constant with his deliveries and man the guy can run .
His pace is frightening, is he faster than Ronaldo .?
Is he a better dribbler? is the question.. I love the way he uses his physique and doesn't fall like a pussy.

Better dribbler no, faster yes. I like the way he doesn't fall too, now if he could get his crosses sorted out.

I don't think he's a better dribbler when the ball is "stopped" but at full pace who knows ? The way he kept the ball away from defenders tackles while running was impressive, I just wish there was a variety to his game (like using his left foot, changes of pace and all).Well today he showed variety but I wish him to be more consistent at it

This lad looks like the real deal. He's quick, he's strong, he's agile. Has a great cross and shot on him.
He's a fantastic winger, and is getting better and better with each game.
I think he's becoming one of the first names on the team sheet, to be honest.

My only real issue with him is that he never uses his left. His right foot is fecking deadly but imagine him with a left as well. He'd be unstoppable.

The game and formation suited him today. Not so sure it suits Rooney, but he did score a hat trick... So no complaints from him I'd guess.

I was fairly critical of his signing but I think he's a very good player who offers alot to our attack and will continue to settle in and improve. Overall, he's impressive and wasn't a bad price.

great performance. imagine if he had even the slight semblance of a left foot. could've tried to use it when we were up 3-1 instead of trying to be quaresma.
Exactly what I was thinking, I wanted him to use his left.Or maybe he could have shifted his body better and opened up so that he could it with the inside of his right

going by prices today, i guess 17 million only does get you one foot. so we got a market standard deal by the looks of things. :D

Owned the right flank today and gave the Pompey defence hell all game with his running.

I thought he was very unlucky not to come away with a vital contribution after all the effort he put in. But this performance proves he has got what it takes to be a very useful winger in the near future. There should still be more development to come as the season goes on.

Very good game, even though Portsmouth clearly didn't do their homework on him. Would be nice to see him repeat it against a top team.

And he should try swinging his left foot at a ball for once, just to see what happens.

Did extremely well today! He should have had a goal but when you only have one foot what do you expect.

That instant aside he was a key player today. Deserves the praise he's getting at the moment.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
I reckon he was slightly better last week against Everton, especially during the first half an hour of that game. Today his dribbling was a little better, but last week his passing was that bit more devastating.

But either way, if he keeps up this kind of form we'll be sitting pretty.

Still hasn't discovered that he's got a left foot though.

Would have helped if he could score a few more... But I am not complaining...

He's already scored 4 goals this season. Which is one more than he scored in the whole of last season. He's doing just fine in that regard, and will be winning Brwned his bet.

That's a bit over the top, come on we are afterall talking about Cristiano Ronaldo here not Albert Riera.

But over the last four weeks or so the signs have been more promising from him. He is slowly beginning to come out of his shell and when freed to some extent of defensive duties he proved today that he can be as devastating as his price tag would suggest.

He is beginning to show more awareness with his positioning now, freeing himself up from his markers and generally making himself available for passes. He is also beginning to make a more measured use of the right back behind him. The signs at this moment are very encouraging indeed

Talking about his dribbling, he skipped over a few challenges in a very deft manner today, accelerating into space wonderfully. Eg the build up to the first penalty.

Where Albert Stubbins scored a diving header
Now that was really encouraging. Quick as feck, powerful, direct, good decision-making and generally good delivery.

He may not be able to do that against top class opposition, but rolling over crap teams is vital and without wanting to get into Ronaldo comparisons, it's one of the key assets we got from him.

The one-footedness is unbelievable though. I'd be embarrassed.

Yeah I didn't mean that post to show I see him as better than Ronaldo, but to highlight his ability to take players on.

One of the reasons why the team looked so cumbersome going forwards was that Ronaldo had seemingly lost the desire to take players on and thus we didn't have enough ball-carriers in the team.. whilst Valencia doesn't have Ronnies versatility or goal threat, he gives the team a better balance. Valencia needs to show he can break down defences which sit back and that is the mark of a true top class player.

Do wingers need more feet than strikers? Honestly, its amazing how often people go on about Valencia's lack of a left peg but never made any mention of Berbatov's.

All professional players should be able to use both feet.

The reason no one has mentioned Berbatov is because this thread is about Valencia.

They dont mention it anywhere. When Berbatov uses the outside of his foot when really he's better off using his left foot, its fine, its classy, whatever.

If Valencia does it, complaints. Just trying to understand where people are coming from as I dont think a winger needs to be two footed more than a striker. So if its fine for one player it should be fine for the next. Thats not to say Valencia shouldnt come inside more often, he should, but thats exactly what he did to get his chance to use his left foot today. He should have done a bit better with the shot and ideally would have used his left foot. But using his right and getting it on target would have been fine too.

Thought he had his best game in a United shirt today, it looked as though the shackles had been broken free & was told to get the ball and just run. The pace he has is frightening though. Long may this form continue!

I think one of his main assets is his strength on the ball - you rarely see him knocked off it

I disagree with that, I thought he made a good solid start to his career here from the off, and he's not stopped improving. Jacob got a bit of stick nominating him as a player of the season so far, and maybe that is pushing it, but he's been a cracking acquisition and he's made that right wing spot his own now. I'd be disappointed not seeing his name on the team sheet

He was excellent today. His all-round play was extremely good, and he never stopped causing them problems. He also did a great job in protecting Neville.

People need to forget what our old right winger could do, because, let's face it, he was a bit special. If Valencia keeps going as he is he'll prove any of the remaining doubters wrong. As an old-fashioned right winger, he's got an awful lot going for him.

No it isn't, if he's better off using his left he should bloody well use it. If he can't then he should learn how.

I even said all professional players should be able to use both feet. Gah. Read.

Bollocks, look at Scholes, the number of times today alone he used the outside of his right instead of his left. It's just a question of end result, what matters is the quality of the pass, not which foot you use to do it. I'm not saying Valencia shouldn't work on his off-foot, but whether he chooses to do that by crossing with his left or outside of right is irrelevant as long as the pass reaches the man.
