Even during the Rafa regime... I can't remember the last time Liverpool have played this badly.

Literally dominated in every single way.

The 4-4-2 isn't working and their midfield is getting destroyed so and I'm very surprised Woy has not changed things around

tough times ahead for Liverpool especially with Masherano leaving, as he provides so much energy in their midfield.

TBF its his second game with a few players not exactly 100% against a determined City team

It certainly isn't looking good for them, if Hodgson doesn't do well would they ship him out quickly like Newcastle did Allardyce?

Support the PRICKS Campaign.
Persevere Roy, it can keep succeeding

It's only 2 games into the season, under a new manager. Talk about kneejerk of the highest order (not aimed at you Boss).

I think they will be much better at the end.

I just can't remember the time they have played so poorly, the ball keeps coming back to them, the players are not even giving their all

this is embarrassing

Not Hodgson's fault that every decent player they have is leaving or not in form or not arsed.

4-4-2 was a dire idea though.

We are playing them in a few weeks. They'll actually be up for that game.

reminds me of the last 6 months of last season

the players have lost belief and definately aren't fighting for the team the way they used to

in saying that city do look well up for it though

Liverpool always played poorly but they had Gerrard and Torres to break and punish teams, i remember against United last season you saw that they were just set up to frustrate us and get us on the counter... it worked but i dont think they played well

Who even decides whether to sack Hodgson or not at Liverpool?:houllier:

The club is a mess both on and off the pitch.

I don't understand why Gerrard plays just infront of their back four. They have limited offensive qualities with only Torres and maybe Kuyt as their main threats but still plays Gerrard as a defensive midfielder.

Roy got it horribly wrong tonight. The Masch news would not have been ideal but then why on Earth didnt he start Poulsen?

Errors like this go unnoticed at the likes of Fulham.

I don't think they have anyone else TBF. I liked their shape last week with Gerrard playing as a "passer" alongside Mascherano. But with Mascherano gone they are pretty much fecked. Lucas isn't in the same class nor is he that type of player. Poulsen must be really shit for him not to feature.

I want them to continue their downward spiral into oblivion. I don't care for history/rivalries/banter.

I simply want LFC to no longer exist.

But I'm sure they will have a few less challenging matches coming up, Torres a bit more up to speed, Cole back from suspension, and the Mascherano issue settled, they will look more cohesive. It's not all doom and gloom for them.

Watch them still get results against us.

After two games Liverpool are five points and fifteen goals down on first place, not likely to be their year.

A bad start but it doesn't necessarily define their season no matter how much we hope it does. That's 2 of the trickiest teams out of the way early. 2 teams that can take 3 points off anybody.

Let's see where they are in 10, 20, 38 games time.

Can't believe how rapidly they've declined. They could have really pushed on after 08/09 as they had a very strong core to their team; Reina, Agger, Masch, Alonso, Gerrard, Torres. They also had much more strength in depth. All been downhill since then.

That said we shouldn't look too much into this result. City beat Arsenal 4-1 last season, beat Chelsea home and away, scored 3 v us at Old Trafford. Liverpool just got their set up completely wrong today. Their first XI is probably the 6th best in the league, beyond that though they really are awful. As Spammy said it's still Rafa's team so I don't think Hodgson deserves too much stick, other than setting up the way he did.

I think a lot of their players just dont look like they have the heart at times.

Let me refresh your memory:

A great game to watch. Rarely has such a "tactical master" in his pomp been torn apart so efficiently through sheer superior tactics.

One of my favourite Liverpool matches of recent times. Benitez' Liverpool never recovered from this tactical annihilation. This in my opinion is the match that decided their season. What an abject mess.

Ludicrous decision to play 4-4-2 tonight against a central midfield as combative as Citys with the 3 of De Jong, Barry and Toure. Its quite a hard working unit but theres a serious lack of flair in the side. With Mascherano seemingly on the way out i cant for the life of me see how they will finish in the top 4 this season, and possibly not even the top 7. Woy has got his work cut out

To be fair to Woy, Tottenham's 4-4-2 shat all over City last weekend.

Well done he’s 13
A woeful, passionless deprived performance from the Scousers tonight.

The timing of Masch saying he didn't want to travel did not help at all, considering he is a vital player for them. Brave of Roy trying the 4-4-2 but it simply did not work. Out played by a very new formed team.
Will we see more of the same? I can't see them challenging the top 4, talking about the title is laughable. Similar league position to last year it looks like.

About time we do the double over them this year. Owe them one at Anfield!
