Darron Gibson - is he good enough for Everton?

It's not like throwing random shit, he actually aims and he's doing pretty good at it... Throwing shit on the wall would probably be like getting Gaz trying to shooting...

He has come close in scoring in nearly everygame...

That does mean that his shooting can be counted as good in a way... If he wasn't good at it SAF would be screaming at his head asking for an explanation on why he's throwing that random shit on the brickwall...

I wonder if all those "shoot!!!" from the crowd play on his mind when instead of having a crack he could try something else
We all can see it, but still he's allowed to do the same over and over. He's good at it, and obviously SAF have seen enough to let him do it a lot of the time whenever he plays.

I think this is wrong, the word generally mature should not be used... it's really up to the styles of play from the footballer and the team he is in...

Was Lampard really super good for Westham playing 4-4-2 ? I thought he lacked discipline and he didn't really look outstanding but his shooting tecnique was always there and once he moved to Chelsea it really shined.

Fabregas to me, was just superb at the age of 18, he's still only 23 now but plays like a Xavi already...

Not to mention Wilshere who is 18 but damn, looks so mature... But I mean Arsenal is Arsenal, however they play they will always have a MF that will make them flow... Denilson looked bad but he was actually decent in most games I've seen, Flamini ? Viera ? Gilberto Silva ? Who actually failed at Arsenal ? Lass ? he just wanted to play and was a wuss complaining every time...

As a United player, of course Scholes has spoilt us for like 15 years as his passing has been ever so phenomenal since i ever started to watch United...

Gibson for me has all the chances to succeed, given the luck and hopes he continuously improves his game... His movment, his passing, his understanding... If he doesn't I'm sure if he gets the right move, gets a good team and if they possibly play 4-3-3, I'm sure Gibson will be a MF who consistently Scores 10 goals a season.
There are some exceptions of course. Cesc is one, Rooney is another, same with Messi, and even Ronaldo probably, Giggs etc who you knew had it from a very young age and would be able to perform well consistently right from the start. But most players take longer to have that confidence and belief in their ability to show it consistently especially playing for a top club.

Was Lampard the player he is today before he was 25? He was always good at the scoring goals department, but apart from that, he didn't have anything else to his game that you would say outstanding. Just another good player, but unlike others, he could guarantee goals. But since Roman came, he just exploded. He was 25 then. I still remember how SAF said a few seasons back that he always knew Lampard was a good player before then, but he never thought Lampard would improve so much to be the player that he is today.

Arsenal can make changes to the team, and they would still perform as well. That's how good they are. Seems their academy>reserve>first team plays the same way and in sync so that whenever someone step ups a level, they're able to play the role well enough to keep the team playing the Arsenal way.

I hope we keep him and he continues to get games.

That is all.

i think folks under-rate his long range passing game. its better than he gets credit for.
i think he will come good. if anything his progress is way ahead of Fletcher was game for game.

I am amused by the comparisons of Gibson with Lampard. Lampard, Chelsea scum though he is, is so much a better and more effective player than Gibson is, and ever will be.
I accept Gibson has a hard shot, but how many of his shots were on target against Rangers? In contrast, Lampard often scuffs his shots and they STILL go in. In any event, Lampard is better than Gibson.

agreed. i don;t see the lampard comparisons.
it always amuses me too when lads compare our midfielders to scholesy - people forget that scholes broke into the team as a striker originally.

I'm not a big fan of Gibson, but some of you lot are massive Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime. He was one of our better players in the Rangers game, and all you could moan was inept he was when established players like Wayne Rooney was having a rubbish night.

Rooney WAS rubbish, and has been this season thus far.

So if Rooney et al were having poor games, then the fact that Gibson played better is no indicator of his "good enough" quality for United.

I just don't think he is very good.

He is not very good indeed, but he was one of our better players on the night and the only few players in red to play with urgency. How good can you expect him to be when he isn't Bryan Robson?

I don't blame him, but I don't understand why he keeps getting played in a position he simply can't play.

Especially times like today when we had someone who CAN play that position stuck out on the wing and then subbed off, just to accomodate him.

Why deliberately weaken yourselves as a team like that?...stupid

We should wait another 5 years for him to become the next Xavi. Meanwhile City with their billions and spuds who have found their balls and given their bottle to us will have over taken us. Good plan.

I always give young players a chance, but in his case im really starting to lose any faith. Purely because i cant remember the last time either of them has had a good game, not just a few nice passes here and there but in a game show some signs of control. Ando manages it with his driving runs but Gibson just stands about not trying to step on anyones toes, and that annoys me.

Time to stand up and be counted son.

If in 5 years he becomes the next Xavi that would just be testimont to how United go about their business

He can only play in a 3 man midfield. He is not mobile enough to get around the pitch in a two man midfield.
