Aguero was stunning, the match against Brazil was the best of the tournament, he just needs to do it at a higher level but I believe if he's played in his right position he will. In my opinion Maradona played him too deep to be at his most effective, bringing Zanetti and Cambiasso along wouldn't have hurt either.

I'm sure this new coach will get it right because he's been great in the friendlys so far, where he was not at his best even in those under Maradona.
I'm hoping to see this below@ a n upcoming world cup

Cambiasso/Mascherano Banega/Pastore

Aguero ---Messi--- Di Maria

Lies huh? So this below isn't your post?

Just quit embarrassing yourself.
If anyone one wants proof of how much of a retarded moron Red Indian Cheif Torn Rubber is then please follow this.

He lies and lies rather badly, he actually took someone elses post and put my name on it to try and make himself look good. He's the lowest of the low, please see post #7068 of this very thread for verification of his lying bullshit nature.

The post he claims was mine was actually written by Marcos, so rather than admit to being a lying twat the chief decided to copy his post and put my name on it. Sort of like this.

My name is Red Indian Chief Torn Rubber and i'm a lying twat.

I made an honest mistake with that last bit. I was too eager too prove you wrong so I misrepresented your statements.

That however doesn't change the fact that you claimed I lied about Gio's statement. When you know damn well I didn't. But I expect you to ran with it in your Cal like manner. It's what you do best

Na, he gave genuine reasoning. You just say "no" if you took a little time to explain your reasons and your opinions i would give them the credit and aknowledgement they deserve.

But to misrepresent someone, to blindly lie about what they say? I can't get my head around that.

I have given clear and genuine reasons. I didn't just post 'no' and leave it at that. It's not my fault you chose to not actually read what I posted because I was not agreeing with you.

That is because you are Mr. perfect.

Na, i just think taking someone elses post and putting someone elses name on it to prove your point is beneath you.

Pathetic defense by Almeria.

Its like teams in Spain dont try anymore whenever they play against Barça.

Terrible goalkeeping for the first two goals.

What a pass for the fifth though. Terric stuff.

I think that's part of the strategy actually, something Arsenal were also very good at when they were at their best. Come out all guns blazing from the start, steamroller the opposition and crush all hope. Then turn to cruise control once you have a secure lead.

I was gonna bump this thread and say he's had a so-so game by his standards - and then he scores twice in 2 minutes.

First goal - good

Second goal - brilliant team play finished by Messi

Who has more tap-in goals this season Messi or Ronaldo?
Ronaldo by quite some distance and more pens

anyway it was the worst game I've probably seen from the Messman, kept giving the ball away and running into traffic

and then BANG, sensational goal, he's now Barca's 3rd highest goal scorer ever surpassing Eto'o at 23

Messi is Barca's third highest scorer with 23 goals? Seems a bit low.

37 goals in 32 games total this season so far (32 in 32 for he who shall not be named in this thread).

Think he'll be the first to hit 50 this season. WHo is the last one to have done this playing in one of the major leagues? Even fat Ronaldo only managed 47.

Edit: Jardel managed it twice in Portugal. 54 in 99/00 for Porto and 55 in 01/02 for Sporting. The man must be like a living god in Portugal.

PS. Your 8000th post was 'Ronaldomort'.

Does that seem right to you?

He is. During his 7 peak seasons in Europe (4 at Porto, 1 at Galatasaray and 2 at Sporting) he managed more goals then games. I know the Portuguese League isn't top notch but I don't remember in my lifetime anyone having more goals than games, it probably doesn't happen since the early decades of our league.

As great a player as he is, I'd like to see him challenged more on a weekly/seasonly basis. The fact is that the difference in quality between the team he's playing in and the 19 other club's in their division is chasmic. It's giving him a constant platform to show all his talent with little adversity to overcome. Of course, he'll be chuffed with that service and freedom to express himself and who can blame him but the best way to judge a player's influence and overall level IMO is when he's playing in difficult circumstances or in an ultra-competitive environment(see Maradona leading Napoli to Serie A in a league containing teams like Sacchi's Milan, Juventus, Inter with Bergomi, Matthaus, Klinsmann, Udinese with Zico, Roma, Sampdoria with Vialli and Mancini, Lazio etc). Until Messi is put in that kind of position with either Barca declining or La Liga spreading it's talent further than 2 club's, I'd hold back on all the platitudes of him being an all-time great like Maradona, Cryuff, Pele and co.

He's the best player of his generation by a mile, whether that generation is as demanding of top player's of the past or as competitive as La Liga in the 70's, Serie A in the 80's and 90's is open to debate IMO. We'll only truly know how great he is if/when Barca's standards slip, let's be honest, he's hardly set the world alight with his inferior national team and was nowhere near as prominent during the transitional phase Barca went through during the latter months of Rijkaard's reign, although overcoming his injury problems and maturing as a player has no doubt played a part in his current excellence aswell.

just took me back to how fecking good serie a was. sad that it has lost its luster. IMO serie a's golden years were better than la liga's or the premierships.

Agree with that. Maybe not always in terms of style but it was unbeatable for sheer quality. An astonishing number of top class players in that league. Even the shit teams had star names.

i still really enjoy serie a, some of the most entertaining games i've seen this season have been there.

This new Milan are facinating to watch, its always end to end as they have a shite midfield and suspect defense yet brilliance up front. Robinho is actually playing great...
Robson always had the talent, he conveyed it in 2007/08 where he reached new heights for Madrid before fading off in the latter half of the season

he also showed moments of brilliance for City like his game vs Arsenal, he just needs to get his consistency right, he was probably Brazil's best performer at the world cup
