My lineup:

At home:

Aguero---------Torres---------------Messi

Schweinsteiger--------------- Lampard--------------Alonso

Sakho--------------Vermielen------------Rodwell----------------Ivanovic

Cech

Away:

Torres

Bale-------------Wilshere------ Schweinsteiger-----Alonso--------Messi

Sakho--------------Vermielen------------Rodwell----------------Ivanovic

Cech
Pretty happy with both line-ups. First one has a bench of Bale,Wilshere and Adler while the second has Lampard,Aguero and Adler.

Ok I chose your 'home' line up as first choice and sent the info to Dwayne - I guess the 3rd poll will be up whenever he next logs on!

Right I've got one sub left to pick and then I'm PMing my tactics for the new thread
Nice one Sharky - you got lucky in the draw as Fort Boyard doesnt have a full team and hasnt logged in for over 2 months!

Tried to post in mine and Stobz' match thread but turns out it's closed.

Wow, wasn't sure I'd come through that one. Not too much to call between the two and credit to Stobzilla for his awesome midefield. Think if I was a neutral I may have given him the nod but really could have gone either way.

I like the sound of the FIFA idea, would be interesting for sure. If anyone does it they'll have to upload the highlights!

Are we allowed to change our 11 for the semis?

If you want to change formation then just post it in here

The FIFA thing does sound interesting but I have no idea about how that kind of thing works !

My new approach. Nice and tight in the midfield, full backs bombing on.

Does he though? Maicon and Marcelo make pretty good wing-backs, and Masch can hold in front of Carvalho/Vida.

Hmmm true. Still some pretty good players left: Forlan, Benzema, Pastore, Suarez, Heskey...

It is amazing to see some of the random names that were picked when players like that are still available

so what should we do about Fort Boyard's subs?

Have each of the other 7 players (who do so within a reasonably short time frame) submit 3 names (1 keeper and 2 outfielders) with it entirely up to the player whether they want to put in someone good or someone funny, then randomly draw three.

Never going to happen by tomorrow ! I'll tell you what, you pick 3 players, White Pele already put a couple of names forward and I'll pick a couple then randomly choose 3 from there.

So one of my players scored an own goal, another got sent off and another missed a penalty - yet I still won

i then used the scientific method of asking my wife to pick 1 of the keepers and 2 of the others - and thus we get a subs bench of:

Green, Pedro, Dempsey

Job done !

To be fair Excal was basically playing with 10 aswell. Donovan kept standing doing stepovers and then kicking the ball out of play.

I'll simulate me vs Stobzilla tomorrow

If I make it to the semi-finals do you think it would be okay if I unpicked Dempsey and Green? I fancy to complete the squad I had originally intended, some surprisingly good players left.

No I reckon you have to stick with what you have now, didnt seem to hurt you in your first match anyway!
Some people have picked players weeks and months ago so it would give you an unfair advantage to pick now - if you just turned up a day or two before you could have done it yourself

Conversely I missed all my opportunities to pick so I am getting the dregs of the bunch.

It's hardly an advantage to complete my picks, considering i kindly let everyone pick ahead of me.

But fair enough.

Huge advantage to pick now - everyone would be picking completely different players today than they picked 3 months ago

Clint Dempsey on the bench. FML.

It's fitting because I often espouse a belief that he is the worst player in the PL.

Why was this such a thrashing?! Excal had an amazing back five, amazing front two, Nani and Ozil to back them up, Y.Toure anchoring and only Landon Donovan as a stand out weakness.

Not saying he should've won, but 55-7 is a landslide! Looked closer to me.
I blame anti-American bias.

(More seriously, I think people were looking at a slightly different thing than I was when I picked players. If you take Rood's players from 2008-09, he absolutely destroys me with a come-into-his-own Ronaldo, and Kaka, Eto'o, and Terry still at the top of their game. 2011 though I think is a much closer affair.)

nowhere near the worst, he's a fantasy football legend - always one of the best value midfielders!

In fact you got him because he was one of the highest scoring Fantasy Premier League players who hadnt been picked yet (it was between him and Charlie Adam) - cant say fairer than that.

He scores headers granted. That's it, that's all the man does.

Hence the FF points.

Oh yeah and he shoots badly, though as an Irishman I do thank him for that moment.

How could I forget?! And given it never finished, I reckon you (we?!) won with the moral victory.

You always seem to get in on these whilst I'm napping...

Fair point. I couldn't work out what it was. When I saw the score I thought you must have had the Derby 2007/08 team out and the votes you got were because Rood is so unpopular... ;)

Too right. Dempsey's always brilliant well priced. Good player.
